ground and pound is a tactic that can be used by any striker

i disagree, you do understand that it takes alot of technique to mount someone while trying to rain down effective strikes, trust me,if you tried to mount aguy that has some grappling backround you we be swept in a second, whether its side mount or full mount you must have a basic grappling backround to understand position and balance before anything, not counting gnp

Well then you would be against most of the world population! I think that just because you went to AA meetings and found "GOD" you are under the impression that you have solved your issues. Sorry bro, but you attitude issues that you still have to deal with.

I hear where your coming from bro, but I think as a Christian you would agree if you saw how gay this guy looked. He wad even wearing a chain that hung down to his knees and it was attached to his wallet. I don't think they should let people in the bank with chains. The chinese triads use chains for weapons.

Strikers can't elbow and headbutt people on the ground? I was not aware of this. You sound like you know everything Mussolini.

I am well versed in MMA knowledge as it is my favorite sport.

In Pride, you can kick and knee a downed opponent, but know elbows or headbutts. In UFC, you can elbow a downed opponent, but no kicks or knees.

It doesn't take a wrestling background to punch someone to the ground, jump on them and continue to punch/headbutt/elbow/stomp them untill they are KOd. It does help though. That's why the UFC is biased against strikers. It kind of makes sense because there would be to many serious injuries otherwise. In Pride or Vale Tude with their more liberal rules, strikers like Silva and Cro Crop dominate.

Cro Cop dominates because he has a sprawl that is on par with an olympic wrestlers. Silve has trouble with wrestlers, as seen with Arona, but he does dominate Japanese "cans" whom he outweighs by 30 lbs.

Oh yah buddy, I wrestled through highschool and UNi, and have been working on my BJJ for over two years now.

BJJ and wrestler together is the best mix IMO

He dominates because he knocks people out simple as that.

Alot of Japanese fighters are small, but not all of them. There are some big ones. They are usually quite skilled too. The talent in Pride is better than UFC.

I do agree with your post man, Pride owns UFC, but the reason Cro Cop is able to keep his fights standing is because of his wrestling ability, same as Chuck. People forget that Chuck Lidells is a division one wrestlers.

I think it is the man more so than the art though, that is the main factor.

I don't think I'll be coming back. It was fun answering your questions. I was glad to share my knowledge as a black belt in Karate. There's a general lack of respect on this board combined with blatant blasphemy and alot of homosexual talk that makes me sick to my stomach.

I agree completely. Like anything else, if you have no inclination whatsoever you are hopless. Don't run track if you're 500 pounds. I don't have any ground training background but I know it's very important. Just remember though, standup fighters are fighting with a handicap in the UFC and Pride to a lesser extent.

silva and cro cop spend just as much time on the ground training as they do standing up,its just a fact.ill repeat it again, you cant do well in mma or street fighting if you dont have ground experiance, lets put it this way,id take a division 1 wrestler who cant strike to save his life against a 1000 degree blackbelt in karate who cant fight on the ground to save his life  and ill guarantee the wrestler will maul the hell out of the karate dude in the cage or street

I've been in street fights and knocked people out cold. I was minding my own business and someone tried to mug me. Dropped him like a sack of potatoes.

Like I said, tell that to Andy Hug or Bas. Tell them Karate is useless in the real world.

They could in the first UFC's and they still got owned. a wrestler would simply take them down and have there way with them

With eye gouging and ball striked the Karate fighters would get killed even worse than they were already

Eye gouging and biting were both illegal in the first UFC.

I gladly would and I would fight any karate Black belt at any time and anwhere without even a thought that I had the slightest chance of loosing.

News flash, Bas was taught at golden glory fight club in Holland which is a kickboxing/muat Thai school, he is also well rounded and versed in subs.
Andy Hug would get owned by any BJJ blue belt or wrestler in a street fight.
