Branch has already beaten half of the top 6. With his performance at this year's Arnold, he's shown he can beat many of the front runners to the crown. It's arguable that he could have even beaten Dex, which puts him as high as 2nd or 3rd in the world (a bit of a stretch I know  ;) )

As for Warren's back, I really do think he can improve it. But consider his performance at the ASC once more. Victor's got the widest back I've ever seen, and Branch beat him handily. It's all about overall consistency and Branch has that covered.

This is what you fail to understand.

Mr. Olympia has the best back in the world. Period. Haney. Yates. Coleman.

Warren is not, and will never be in that company.

The question is whether Branch can win the Olympia. The Olympia is a different contest than the others. I think Branch has the ability to win any contest but the Olympia. I just don't think there's any chance he'll ever win the Olympia. Even with a better back, he has horrible shape, his body is one of the most unaestetic competing today. I like Branch but in my opinion he'll never come close to the Olympia crown. Top 5 possibly, but never win.

Dorian beat Flex Wheeler. In the olympia, Aesthetics matter not. Hope this helps

I never said he was. Just that aesthetics take a back seat at the olympia.

Aesthetics might take a back seat if you have overpowering size and conditioning, like Dorian. And even Dorian was much more aestethic than Branch.

Even with a better back, he has horrible shape, his body is one of the most unaestetic competing today.

Dorian's shape was far from the greatest and he still beat the likes of Flex Wheeler, Shawn Ray, and other legends of aesthetic appeal. I think superior conditioning and a shit-load of mass can overide these qualities. Branch is thick and always competes dry and ripped.

If guys with better physiques come in with poor conditioning, Branch has what it takes to beat them. Dorian probably wouldn't have won after 93 if his conditioning hadn't been superior to everyone else [who mattered].

Besides, how unnasthetic can Warren be with a tight midsection?

Dorian beat those guys because he weighed 30 pounds more than them and had great conditioning. What does Branch weigh 240, 245. Who's he going to overpower at the Olympia weighing that?  We're talking about the Mr. Olympia. Branch is never going to sniff the Olympia crown. At his best he might challenge for the top 5. The Olympia is a whole new ball game. And if you think Branch is aestetic, well, we're just going to have to agree to disagree on that.

branch is too short to win the Olympia.

sure, franco won - but only after arnold retired.

branch being 5'7, at most he can go up to 250 without loosing his conditioning or having an outrageous gut, but i if someone is taller and heavier, while in great shape...

he and dorian are similiar, but branch, as much as i like him, aint even close to dorian.

ruhl could be the next mr. olympia, if he improves his hamstrings and gets his back more seperated.  it doesnt have to be the best onstage, but close to it.  he has the size, height, stage presence, freaky bodyparts - bi's and chest.  in 04, his midsection was fine.  ruhl just needs to get a bit harder, dryer, and more seperated in the back.  but that's a tall order to fill.  time will tell if he will do that.

agreed. anybody under 5'8" will have a hard time winning the O from here on out.  the best "taller" guys will always win the O.

waiting for all the short guys to chime in...................... ......

Although ironagers never admit this - pros like Branch Warren have one major flaw - they are TOO muscular.  Ironagers will go on about lack of aesthetics of proportions or some other BS excuse, but the reality is that it IS possible to have too much muscle.  Branch is just too thick to look aesthetic, regardless of how balanced his proportions are.

Ditto.

He's 5'6" isn't he?  'nuff said.

I am a short guy chiming in LoL...I have to agree though, history has proven that a short guy will never win at the big show...All us short guys can do is hope and dream of it one day...Although, we do have quite a contender in our corner now with Dex.....
