I'm going to buy one of those jap bikes and build a bobber, probably this summer.  Something like this...

I love the classic bikes.  The ducks and the honda magna are cool.  The BSA is a classic.  I would love to find the 2 stroke Kawaski 750. They were top dog at one point.  Remember when Honda came out with the 6 cylinder ride?  It was 100 horse power but at the time that was sick.  Now 600CC bikes have 100 horse power in really light bikes.

Now with age I appreciate refinement.  The honda intercepter is the ride I crave.  Power with a refined ride and handling is what I want.

Understood.  The 6 cylinder sucked they never got it right. Now Triumphs those were some cool bikes along the line of BSA.

The Triumph Bonneville and Trident were ultra cool bikes.  I'm talking about the original company and not the one that just bought the name.  The first time I saw a Can am go by I couldn't believe how cool it looked.

The 1000 cc six cylinder Honda was cool but it was to heavy and had poor handling. Trying to keep 6 carburetors in sync was nearling impossible at the time.  Fuel injection with a computer chip was only a pipe dream at the time. It is still one dream bike to own.

Ok here is the workout routine 3 times a week in my garage gym works everytime.

A few jumping jacks for warmup.
Crank the cycle for warmup.
Light a Lucky Strike and pour a Jack Daniels.
One set of 20 reps squats until failure.
Ride the cycle to the store for more Lucky Strikes.
Pour another Jack Daniels after return.
One set of Bench Presses 6 to 10.
Rest.
Light a Lucky Strike.
One set of Barbell Rows 6 to 10.
Rest
Take a nap = 2 hours.
Light a Lucky Strike and pour a Jack Daniels.
Take a shower.
One set of Barbell Curls to get pumped for the Club.
Go pickup up strippers on the cycle and bring the them back for action.
Light a Lucky Strike and pour a Jack Daniels then sleep.

who's gimmick  do i have the privilege of speaking to right now?

bench
just me. No gimmick. Sorry if that makes it harder for you. Less than 1000 posts isn't always a gimmick. I'm just a vet that looks in once in awhile. Getting shot down by anti aircraft guns isn't considered failure by most people's standards. Especially in military circles. That's what makes me think that you know nothing about it. At any rate, the man endured much more adversity than 99% of the population ever will, and didn't break. He deserves all of our respect.

Until you get pulled over for some half assed excuse like loud pipes and have them confiscate your bike for riding without a license.

Besides taking the class gets you a discount on insurance.

And yes, you douchebags, I did take the class after the guy at the DMV fucked me on my test.

Baltimore is overrun with people like this...gangs of them on dirt bikes and quads, going in and out of traffic. One time, I was passed by approx 60-80 kids on dirtbikes in downtown b-more. Just google Baltimore's dirtbike problem. In fact stolen bikes is big business up and down the East Coast corridor just to sell to kids in B-more.

Chaos, that is why my dad at age 62 took the motorcycle class. When he got louuudddddd pipes on his fatboy, he said these fuckers would probably pull him over so he had to take the 2 and half day class. Mind you he taught motorcycle classes in the navy in San Diego but still he never had a motorcycle license and he has been riding since 16.
That is why I am taking the class, hell never rode a bike before, so I will learn somethings. Tommorow he is letting me ride around in the driveway just to see if the fatboy is gonna be to much for me. I hope I dont drop the thing.

If you're ging to get a sportster at least pick up a cool old ironhead and buy yourself an aftermarket frame, you can build something quick and nimble, while getting a frame to fit your body size better. Tons of websites and sportster specialty places to get you exactly wehat you want.

And for what it's worth, you should be able to build yourself a full custom for about the same price as buying a new piece of shit from Harley.

Well, rode a fatboy for the first time today. Just in a empty parking lot at a nearby park. I only went into 2nd gear but I think and my boy thought I did pretty good. The first time i picked my feet up I kept moving the handlebars back and forth, (nerves i think). Gotta learn to lean in a bit more, but as far as shifting I seemed ok.

You need to have some forward momentum before you pick your feet up, you need to be accelerating.

well I passed the first part of the course on the bike as well as written. Didn't dump the bike and only stalled a few times. My dad snuck on the course and took pictures so I will have them soon. Tommorow is all day on the bike, and its supposed to rain but there is no restrictions with weather, we are on the course rain or shine.

well tommorow is 8-2 on the bike course and its supposed to rain..great..but after you pass sundays course you get a certificate. Go to any dmv with the certificate, take the written exam and there ya go..easy peasy. My dad is taking his sweet ass time with the pictures. He rolled up on his fatboy. So on break, I rode the bike and put it in 3rd gear. He was impressed. Even did a u-turn on that big ass bike. I really surprised myself. Few times when I was shifting into 2nd, it was in neutral but none the less did good.

The Ecosse Spirit is another attempt by F1 car guys to build a bike (see Ilmor, Aprilia Cube etc.). Even on paper (3D CAD) it's light years behind where the MotoCzysz is at this point.

Motorcycles are all about what makes you want to go out in the garage and put the key in them. Some guys like Busas and ZX-10s, some guys like the look of blood red Italian. Makes no difference to me - just ride!

I was Johnny O'mara's bodyguard once.  I recognize Ricky Carmichael's name.  And someone said Supercross was awesome.  It sure is.  I grew up with Mark Blackwell who is in the Hall of Fame.  His brother Greg was my best friend back when I was a little kid.  Motocross was very popular in our neighborhood.  We all had dirt bikes.  One guy rode factory for Bulltaco and another for Suzuki.  They were all my brothers age but had younger brothers my age.  We all loved it.  Amazing even 35+ years ago

a few of my boys have offered to let me borrow, but I wouldn't be able to deal with if I dropped or got an a accident with their bikes. Not sure about other states, but in CT, to rent you have to put a 2k deposit on a credit card plus the cost of renting. I dont mind the deposit at all, but the only thing that was available was a goldwing..FUCK THAT

Shit I forget we also had Mark Morrison who rode for Husqvarna factory. All these guys were my heroes.  We had an area about 4 miles from our house that was several hundred acres of dirt and hills in El Segundo, CA.  On weekends we would all ride our bikes there.  All MX bikes riding in the street.  It was loud sometimes.  Things I remember from back then were expansion chambers.  I think those were the fancy exhaust systems.  I had the pussy bike of them all a yamaha 250 mx.  I really liked the Honda Trials bike from back then though.  My bro had a Suzuki 400.  Man it was fun back then.  Remember the Honda 50.  I raced go karts when I was around 12 and the 1st prize was a Honda 50.  We raced through the streets of El Segundo.  They set it up like the do the Grand Prix nowadays but for carts that went 100+ mph.

Bodybuilding is not a "sport"...it is a deviant subculture fueled by narcissism and schmoe lust.

Sounds like some kind of deal going down here, soon as you seem him leave ride for 10 days, make sure the gas level is the same when he returns he'll never know.

Well maybe not as much as you cause I was a city kid but we had a cabin in the mountains in So. Cal that we went to alot and riding the bikes on the back trails was something I really loved.  I loved just all of a sudden making a right turn and going off trail.  I love that kind of stuff.  There was a show growing up called Then Came Bronson about a guy who lived on his Harley and just traveled around the country.  I always wanted to do that.  I do plan on buying one of those $100,000+ 40'+ motor homes when I am around 58 or so and traveling with a Harley on the back.

Sounds like a good plan, I lived in the country so could ride anytime as a kid. Was Bronson kinda based of the movie Easy Rider ? By the way a fucking classic biker movie.

first off dipshit, at least I own up to my downfalls so dont bust my labia. That bike is fine for my height, trust me my pops wouldn't let me ride it if I were not be able to have both feet completely flat on the ground. I did just order at the harley shop engine guards, just in case. Remember technically its not my bike its pops. I cant really alter it

I think retraining is in order.
1. sidecar for feel of the outdoor road.
2. training wheels 2 weeks
3. a ride to the local gas station less than 1/2 mile.

Young man, there's no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, 'cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy.

Young man, there's a place you can go.
I said, young man, when you're short on your dough.
You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.

No big bike rally was today, but me and little one at the beach, where we are right now.
Todays run was pappys run. Pops said there must of been 1000 bigs. Pappy overturned the helmet law in CT, hence no helmet law.
Tommorow is a long ride bout 90 min each way to a place in nothern CT to have lunch. Today is 85 tommorow the same

Good deal thats a long ride for a rookie = enjoy = riding is freedom from society and it's problems. I dont enjoy the long rides just around town and stuff.

I rode the BMW S 1000 RR at the track two weekends ago (194 hp and 403 lbs stock - bike I rode had a pipe and power commander).

Made my pee pee tingle like when we used to climb the rope in gym class.

Les are you saying Japanese bikes own Harley's? Now on a flat track Harley's rule but on a track like Daytona or others on the series Harley's dont stand a chance. Why is this honest question.

Depends on what you're looking to do...

For flat tracking the Harley XR750's pulsed power delivery is advantageous to traction. Others can and do mimic it (Aprilia, Suzuki, and now Ducati). Over the years many people have felt the AMA have "tweaked" their flat track rules to benefit HD. Yamaha and Honda both quit the Series for that very reason. In the old Grand National Series days the disciplines were combined and an overall title was awarded....so the roadracers and flattrackers had to ride across disciplines to win an overall title. That is why the most famous group of American roadracers had flat track backgrounds. A true XR750 is one of the purest forms of race bike....140 mph into turns with basically no brakes. For the 1/2 mile and mile races having huge HP is not a major concern if you can't put the power to the ground.

At Daytona....the "roval" type track is really one big dynamometer. HP rules on the high banks and a true Harley (air-cooled, push rod engine, big twin) just doesn't have the power (HP for a given displacement) to be competitive. The new Buells are close - under "tweaked" AMA rules. On road courses the Harley VR1000 was overweight and underpowered. I'm pretty sure HD could build a competitive race bike for roadracing IF they wanted to commit the resources to it. This really isn't their market niche and it would be prohibitively expensive to take on the Japanese and Italian manufacturers at their game.

For taking a bike down to the local establishment for a beer and a burger...HD corners that market and does so at a much higher profit level than the 600 cc sport bike market could ever return.

Great explanation. So summary is Harley has no interest in "roval" type racing because the market isnt there. It's just amazing that they still dominate short flat tracks I guess the Japs and Italians arent that interested in that venue so its like a stand off.

Harley no longer needs to roadrace - for companies like Ducati racing is in their DNA.
For HD the cost of competitive entry into the sportbike market would be considerable.
Having a HD sportbike line would alienate the "true Harley faithful" - see the liquid cooled VRod.
HD dominate in flat track by favorable rules.....and those crazy goddamn hillbillies are only interested in American iron.  ;D
Roadracing = huge in Europe, small following here.
Flat track = exists in pockets of America, non-existent in the rest of the world.

I believe that if American engineering wanted to build a sportbike to take on the big four they could.

You're a tiny little shit aren't you? You need something like a sportster in an aftermarket frame, small, mid controls and some pullbacks.

Yup, especially in comparison to someone of your size.  Its always been so, but you get used to it.  If my IQ were taken into account, I reckon I'd be at least 5'2".  ;D ;D ;D
To my credit, I have a sense of humor about it.  Its best as there really is nothing I can do about it.  The Sportster Low is a new model I sat on but man is it heavy for me.  I know...short and weak.   ;D Thanks for recommendations on mods.  I appreciate it.

Actually, the chrome on a Harley is of high quality and its chromed metal, not plastic.  That may be why the Sportster seems so heavy.  Nah!  I'm just relatively weak.   ;D

Not like I work for Suzuki or anything  ;D, but the Suzuki Boulevard/Savage is surprisingly small, and light.

Sweet.  Thanks again!

Might as well build ground up custom, get yourself a frame that fits you or you won't be happy with it.

Unfortunately, I am a "geezer".  Not a fag though.  Yuck!

That bike you put up looks way too big/tall for me.  I'm not all that tall you know.  I was researching a new bike from Aprilia but its not available yet.  Its a 125 and is coming to America later this year.  Thought about a scooter but not too sure.  The Aprilia looks fast but being a 125 it should be manageable for someone like me.  I do like that Suzuki Savage and will have a look at them later.  Different style bikes I know, but I am just going to ride around town and maybe on the freeway a bit.  Talking a course from the MSF should help me out and they said they have small bikes for us to use.

Other than the weight, I would really like a Sportster.  I just worry about dropping it and being unable to pick it up.  The next thing would be a woman would come over and lift it like it was nothing.   ;D  Ouch! ;)
