It's a direct correlation. If the government continues to keep raising minimum wage it kills small business by having them raise prices on products, in turn the higher prices (depending on the product or service) will drive away business, force layoffs and eventually drive them out of business. I'm all for people making a living wage but when the government forces a certain minimum set amount that kills business, it's not right.

The responsibility for this is on the consumer.   Nobody makes them join.

If they do and they feel it's beneficial, then the price is fine, as there is obviously a market for it.
