Title: Tiger King - on Netflix - Discuss
Post by: POB on March 23, 2020, 08:10:20 PM
Great documentary on Netflix. Sure it’s trashy tv but I’m a get bigger and enjoy trashy tv from time to time :D It’s dog the bounty hunter if he was a tiger trainer, to good won’t spoil the ending. Any other trashy shows I should be watching? I’m running out of stuff in this “quarantine”

I only watched this because my girlfriend wanted too but I'm glad I did. The most entertaining documentary I've ever seen. It's hard to fathom that people like this exist but at the same time you're glad they do because of the entertainment value!

Carole Baskin is a vindictive bitch I absolutely hate everything about her. Vile woman.

Totally agree, and I believe she did kill her husband amazing she was able to get power of attorney the way she did. Should be a dateline special. Her park looks like shit to she preaches about open space for the cats and her cages look so small and cheap I’m surprised they don’t escape and I’m surprised her fans don’t see she’s the same as the rest actually worse.

Took half an old ass edible gummie I had last night and watched the first episode and about five minutes into the second episode before I fell asleep. When I watched the trailer, it really did nothing to explain the premise of what it was really about. One episode in and I’m still not really sure of the point, but it is entertaining and I’ll watch the rest. Not sure how many episodes there are though.

I knew a tiger lady in NJ. Keep tigers in a compound. I haven't seen the series and I wonder if it's one in the same. She lived off of donations I believe for the tigers. I would doubt there is a lot of money to be had from donations.

I bet you think Covid 19 was man made by the Chinese too.

Sounds like you’re only upset and offended because you sincerely enjoyed your little tiger movie.

I practice social distancing. I'm hygenic and sanitary. I'm definitely avoiding everyone and not going out except for essentials like groceries and outdoor cardio (since la gym is closed).

Yet I'm not afraid to go through a drive thru. I have no problem going to a park. I browse Canadian Tire without being fearful. I avoid others in the narrow isles for their sake; not for mine.

I'm doing the right thing. Yet everybody is shaming everybody for everything.

If you're susceptible to this virus than stay the fuck in. There are services to help get you essentials. I am not susceptible. I'm a healthy male in his 40's with no existing illnesses. So stop fucking shaming me for doing what is asked.

The people that could die of it are the ones that need to stay the fuck in. Not the rest of the world.

Blast me. See if I give a fuck.

Wow what a fake tough guy and rebel you are! You go you.....fag

Documentaries are often slanted and designed to lead the watcher to a conclusion. The watcher assumes they are getting all the information in an unbiased format. They usually aren't. I was at one point for a couple years assigned to a Missing Persons unit while I was a Detective. After watching the episodes I don't have enough information to conclude anything but that he disappeared. One of the witnesses said during the series interview that shortly before the husband went missing he was working with him on the property and the husband said something like "If I can pull this off it will be the greatest thing I've ever done". He never finished the thought. The witness certainly wasn't a fan of Carols so it's not likely he would make it up to cover for her. I do agree the documentary wants us to think she did it. She might have, but he might have faked his death as well.

Wait you mean an entertainment based medium isnt truthful and has underlying motives?

Its good we have CNN, MSNBC and FOX NEWS to feed us unbiased truth. And the internet.

As for the husband why would he have faked his death so the wife could wait 5 years, claim his fortune and remarry 3 months later?

I guess it makes sense if he hated his adult children so much that he wanted to see them suffer, thinking he was dead .

Netflix’s ‘Tiger King’ prompts sheriff to seek leads in cold case

A Florida sheriff is scratching for new leads in a 23-year-old missing person case — thanks to the popular Netflix series “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.”

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister turned to the show in search for clues into what happened to Jack “Don” Lewis, who disappeared in 1997, with some viewers of the true crime drama wondering if he was murdered

Thats a good question. When they were talking about how much he was worth, it varied from 5 million to 10 million I think.Even his lawyer didn't really know. If I'm not mistaken some also spoke of him hiding money around. If he did fake his death, I would imagine he had taken the time to accumulate enough cash to live comfortably. Even if it were 4 million, you can live pretty comfortably in Costa Rica and other places on that. They didn't really cover his relationship with his children that much from what I recall. I'm not sure how much that would factor in.

Were you assuming the money he hid was illegal? In that case faking his death isn’t crazy and considering he wanted a divorce he may have wanted to hide those assets?

The police said they spent a week in Costa Rica and they didn’t find anything unusual.

It’s all interesting. Obviously as you said it an entertainment piece.

But the police are re examining the case so they’re obviously facing pressure and or embarrassment.

Yeah I was just reading an update from the Hillsborough SD. Apparently when they visited Costa Rica back then one of the security guards on Dons property said he had seen him since the disappearance.  The other security guard said he hadn't.

It could be a mixture of both certainly. Today we have technology like cell phone tracking, DNA testing that could have helped solve it. It's rare a 20+ year cold case gets solved but it does happen. Maybe the popularity of the series will be a key in it.

About 1/2 now. These are the totally US models - http://www.redwingshoes.com/footwear/filter-usa .

Danner still makes a good amount in the US - https://www.danner.com/men/usa-made?sortId=position-asc .

And about 3/4 of Thorogood's stuff is still US - https://www.thorogoodusa.com/ .

Chippewa, who I've had luck with, still has a small selection of US models - www.chippewaboots.com/footwear/footwear_outdoor_shop-made-in-the-usa-outdoor-styles .

I think White's and WESCO are the only ones left that are near 100% US made now, granted they are a fair amount more expensive.

Just finished episode 2, and really like it so far.  Spoilers ahead:

I disliked Carol within 1 minute of her being on camera.  She has to be the biggest hypocrite in the history of the world.  Her park is the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen, but is able to get dozens of far left volunteers to work for her because they think they are doing a good thing.  Unreal!

Neither of Joe "guys" husbands appeared to be gay on camera, and I honestly wonder if they married the  bastard because they loved working with the animals so much, and had nothing else to turn to.

arent red wings made in china now?

I’ll have to look that up. I haven’t bought them in a year or two and went with some Carhartt waterproof boots that were lightweight and on sale for my latest pair. And the color is called “soggy brown”, so it’s Primemuscle approved!  :D

Rambone would you mind dressing up in those soggy brown boots and matching coveralls and taking a trip to Big Cat Rescue for a little reconnaissance mission on behalf of your GB brethren?

I can’t offer you anything monetary, but you will have as much time to spend working with the cats as you like as well as my respect.

I’d love to big guy. I have no bias on this topic and also live in Florida, so I was meant for this job. After throwing on my pair of soggies, can I pick up fellow getbiggers before my journey west? I’ve got Shizzo to the north of me and big Mike Arvilla, Lurkernomore, and Ronnie Rep to the south!

EXCELLENT IDEA!

The more brothers the better. If it’s not to much maybe you can grab Grant, PJ, Wiggs and Pamith as well? Going with a diverse group of individuals will really help us what is taking place on Carols ranch. I ve always believed you need as many perspectives as possible, it’s similar to assembling a jury.

I have a rule in life and it’s you can judge a person based on their treatment of Getbiggers in real life. Carol and Big Cat Rescue won’t be able to fake their opinions at out of this encounter.

I ended up finishing the entire series last night.  Show was pretty addicting and really good overall.

Spoilers ahead:

In the end I felt for Joe, as there were multiple people who should have gone down with him, yet they worked with the feds and all of them walked scot free, wtf!??!  The only thing Joe did wrong was that he should have killed Carol himself.  Shit,  I would have killed the bitch if I was him lol.

And there is no way that Carol didn't kill her husband.  99.99% chance she did.

Didn't know it was legal to own tigers(outside legal Zoo's) in USA.

Feels like something only done in third world shithole countries. But maybe that's what US is becoming.

By  now you may have reached the episode where they both reveal they aren't gay. One of them runs off with the secretary the other Darwins himself. But..... I don't know how that works... I love animals, but I can't even fathom being in a intimate relationship with another man to be able to hang with them.

Yep, I finished the series last night.
I think it was a combination of loving the animals and being a massive drug addict, and having no one else to hook you up with meth other than good old Joe.
You could tell that Travis didn't want anything to do with Joe physically.  Pushing him away in several scenes.  The poor bastard must have really loved the meth if he's willing to screw a dude over it! lol

But what if the animal bought you meth? And cars and guns? At that point your only choice is to have sex with the animal.

Yes. The fact that people like that exist in real life is fascinating.

Absolutely. It's trashy entertainment that keeps you engaged. The people in this documentary are real life Getbiggers.

For pure pulp entertainment, this is the best thing I've seen in a while. Also the amount of pussy and bussy these guys get is shocking, a lot of it high quality too.

Intriguing and provocative premise, but I could tolerate only the first three episodes.  The main
characters were so loathsome that I had to stop watching.  That poor gal (now a guy!) who lost
her arm to a big cat was interesting, though.

BTW, Carol (one of the main figures), has speech and mannerisms a lot like Hillary Clinton.  There
might be something nefarious with her.

I got the rest of the story from reading articles about the mess.

Tiger King: Human Remains Allegedly Discovered at Joe Exotic's Zoo

If you thought the tale of the Tiger King was over, you should know you haven't seen anything yet. A bizarre new report Friday night from TMZ suggests cadaver dogs have picked up the scent of human remains on the same property Joe Exotic once owned as his own personal petting zoo. According to the report, the dogs were on-site for Zak Bagan's Ghost Adventures when they picked up the scent in the Wynnewood zoo's alligator pit.

As seen in Netflix's Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness, Joe Exotic — real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage — was forced to sell the location to Jeff Lowe, another one of the big cat collectors shown in the docuseries. TMZ has images of law enforcement officials from Garvin County on-scene at the zoo as they reportedly discuss ways to get to the remains.

Most recently, Carole Baskin was awarded the zoo as part of a $1 million judgment against Exotic and his late mother. It's unclear if she's currently in control of the land or it remains in Lowe's hands as of now.

"You know we knew about 2 and a half years ago that Joe's mother had basically confessed on her death bed that she helped Joe orchestrate an illegal transfer of assets to hide the zoo property from Carole's attorneys, so once that happened the writing was kind of on the wall, and we knew it was only a matter of time before Carole would pursue the property, and that's why we acquired the land," Lowe said about the judgment in a recent interview.

"In all honesty and people probably won't believe me but she deserves this property," Lowe said. "She beat Joe, he didn't defend himself and she's entitled to the judgment. We didn't defend this suit because we knew 1 the law would be on her side and 2 it wasn't worth us defending this property because we didn't want it. Lauren and I tried to donate it to the Indian Nation about a year ago because we knew that there were the remains of a young Indian boy buried here and we thought that the nation should have the first opportunity to protect this land and his grave."
