Think straight bar DLs are my favorite lift currently.

I used the Hex bar this time.

I used the Hex bar this time.

I had been using the hex.

Switched back.

Also, had my hex for five year, was told it weighed 57lbs when I bought it.......the other day I weighed it because I just thought it felt heavy.

It was 75lbs......all my lifts over the last five years are now 18lbs heavier than I thought.

It’s a different kind of sore when you haven’t done squats in awhile.

I did a set of squats today (well one "working" (oh brother) set, preceded by several "warm-up" sets).

My program called for back squats, so I switched it up and decided for once was going to do high bar squats and force myself to go full ass to the ground.

It is humbling.

Hoping it forces mobility/flexibility on me because I am putrid in that category.

The most humbling squat I've ever tried is overhead squats. Any tight spot you have will be revealed. I use them to warm up now before squats.

That is actually what I'm hoping to progress to.

Can't even do it with a piece of PVC pipe.

For the first time, I noticed my hips not engaging at the end of the baseball season, and hitting the golf ball.

I have to fix that shit.

Overhead squats will stretch your whole hip socket crazy and also pull your scapula back. I never realized how much that single move involves.

Once I tried overhead squats it gave me a whole new respect for people that do Olympic snatches.

I will continue to work on mobility (it's part of my program, but i always skipped it) so I can eventually do one of those fucking things.
