What does Troponin train for? Football? BBing? PLing?
BPK

it is a good lift, impressive
-
LOL!!!
How does everyone here compare to that? With the same subjective intensity and form, I would say I do 405 for three like he did the 635. To be honest, I think Justin could have had four.
Justin is scary strong.

Very nice. Squadfather, what will you have to say if I can duplicate the feat with no straps, belt, and using a hook grip?
Chris

you have to understand the dime store psychology behind a character like Chris, Count, his body looks like the average 170lb. guy who works in a factory who considers breakfast a Mountain Dew and a cigarrette so any chance to show off his "strength" he will scream from the mountaintops, "LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!!!!! I'M STRONG TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK, I'M LIFTING A BIG WEIGHT TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I just find it amusing that you want to credit others but don't give me the same. I can perform a more impressive feat than this guy (I weigh a lot less and can do it without the equipment and with a total reset between reps) yet you don't want to give me my due. THAT is why I mentioned it. Of course, I also like to mention when I am competitive with someone. You will note I won't say a word if the feat is way beyond my abilities.

DC training is rack deads, simple as that and if you are doing DC training, you are simply doing a modified Heavy Duty program. Yet you tout volume training.
hhahaha, you better go back to the drawing board Mr 405 x 3 hahahahahahahhaha

Alex, anyone using stuff should be a couple hundred pounds from a super heavy world record? haha, most guys using juice can't even do 315.
Chris Mason if you could do that with a hook grip that is very impressive, don't worry too much about the nobody, squad father.

There are a bunch of vids you guys can look thru here
os?user=skuclo
Trop is ungodly strong and feels he has an 800 floor deadlift in him down the road in the future. The video starting this thread was his start of the his floor deadlifting plan (first deadlifting workout after a layoff) He pulled 700 previously I believe.
He also got very close to a 500 for 20 rep squat a couple months back (think he got 17 or 18) but they werent filming that day.
Theres so much info on my methods out there I dont know how Count Grishnack always gets everything all so wrong. Natural Al on this site is someones posts on this site that should be listened to DC wise. Most of my guys floor deadlift, rack deadlift, sumo deadlift, hammer machine low handle deadlift or do a combination of many of those.
Alexxx any more movie parts? ( I still think its great your getting various parts in movies and other media...keep pursuing that my friend )

Yup, most steroid users can't even pull 405lbs. If anyone thinks they could pull 800 by doing a few cycles... well, they are welcome to try. Even juiced to the gills it's an extremely rare feat.
Chris Mason is a very strong deadlifter. Period.
-
I seriously doubt that Chris could outlift this Troponin guy. Trop looks like he could deadlift near 700 with a conventional stance. He's also got crazy squatting and bench pressing strength. I wouldn't be surprised if he could bench 500 or more.
-
I thought chris posted a clip of 600 for 1, that's a long way from 3 reps. Plus Trop looked like he could have done more.
-
Hey DC, I've got a question. In one of those videos, I think the clean and press one, it mentions a modified DC training style. Does this mean they're doing something different from what's been laid over the internet over the years, i.e. to cater more to their goals? I remember reading that most DC trainers don't do clean and presses but maybe I'm mistaken.

Troponin is a strong guy, no doubt, but i would think his bench would be near the mid 4's or just below. He posted a video of him inclining 315 and got 12 and looked like he could have gotten another 1 or two. Still very good, but over 5 is alot.
-
Trop is a beast. Where's that jap who makes training videos of pros? Forget those lazy pros, make a vid of Trop!!

Why are Kuclo and Justin not using rest-pause on upper body movements? I thought DC training took every set to complete and absolute failure (and past that) ???

they do (except for the widowmaker sets) what your seeing is the first part of their rest pause. Noone really wants to wait to see Steve and Justin breathe in and out 10-15 times during the 3 rest pauses, the vids would be way too long.

No way. He could probably do low 400's on the incline, which would put his flat bench very close to 500.
-
So how are the guys progressing with the deads?
Bump!
So Dante, has Kucklo gotten even stronger on the deads?
-

If he didn't do any other movement before hand and just banged out a single I'm sure he could hit 500 for a nice "touch n go" single.

probably what they mean is they are doing a more advanced split. the normal split is:
chest, shoulders, tris, back width and back thickness for workout 1
bi's, forearms, calfs, hams and quads for workout 2
this is usually called a "two way split" by guys who use DC. there is a "3 way split" that's set up a little different and that's probably what they are doing. I'll get into the specifics of the 3 way if you want via PM.

Justin Harris is no doubt as strong as they come...my question is does that freaky strength come from the DC style of training as if DC, over time, makes your body stronger and stronger over time vs 'traditional' type of training? I'd imagine that naturally Justin Harris as a person outside of that kind of training is just a strong mthrfkr PEROID.
Steve K is another DC'er and is also known for inhuman strength. Is he another just genetically strong kid or is it the training? I guess my question is...how much of an influence does DC have on brutish strength and what can most people expect to gain strength-wise with DC?
-
In no way would I ever be selfish enough to say Justin Harris or Steve Kuclo are where they are with my help.....they have done everything 100% themselves and they and they alone created that strength/physique.
The sad thing is I could answer the incline bench press question on Trop but I think he would like me to leave a little bit of mystery in all this for the future. (ill say this: Its way up there in a ChrisCormieresque kind of way!)
-

I know a lot of guys dog dc but in all honesty of you can't get stronger with this type of system and a little common sense you're never gonna get stronger. You constantly push you're poundage or rep "goals" up each workout, you never really stagnate cause if you do you drop that movement and rotate in a new one. I've moved some pretty big poundages since starting and everyone who knows me knows that I've not been able to train how I would like to for the last 2.5 years due to all the personal shit I've had to deal with.
-

I don't know alot about this program, however, any structured, progressive lifting program with basic compound exercises will make you stronger...look at the great powerlifters and it all goes back to the basics, progressive resistance. With that said, does this approach make for a better bodybuilder, in my opinion based on over 25 years training and 22 years competing, no. Of course I think everyone should include basic exercises into their training, incorporate different technques such as rest pause and streching (which have both been corner stones of bodybuilding training programs forever), but the approach of challenging the log book ( not sure exact phrase they use) is not a good one for bodybuilding. Will some people be successful with it? Of course, but remember their are bdybuilders, especially today with chemical warfare, that are extremely successfull with a program that has no structure, includes limited food and lots of protein drinks, involves partying, and machines with realtively easy reps are the corner stone of their training. Wth the drugs today ANYONE can build muscle!!! 100% I mean any healthy person can build significant amounts of muscle...is it good quality, striated, dense muscle? not usually, but tell Paul Dilett that, haha.
Back to your question yes anyone can gain strength with a progressive resistance program..obviously not everyone will end up as strong with these lifts as these two but they should and will get stronger. I trained for years in the same gym as Chris Confesore (bench press record holder in many class'), he has a book on weight training. Will you get stronger using it? Of course, if your healthy, but you probably won't become a record holder.
-
I know what its like to have personal drama...it's like a cancer that infests your thoughts and the ability to get a quality growth producing workout is next to impossible. Usually the culprit are WOMEN.
Check it out, natural al...last week I trained delts with a MAYHEMer (E.C. Illa) and he does DC and I agreed to train delts "his way" so we started off with smith machine shoulder pressing...this is what I did.
1 plate a side...12 reps(warmup) 1 plate a side...5 reps (warmup)
1 plate and 25 a side...8 reps, 2 plates a side...5 reps 2 plates and 25 a side...6 hard reps...focusing on the negative with him giving me 3 forced reps so I finished with 9...racked the weight took 15 breaths and he added a 5 on each end so I did 3 more...racked it...15 breathes he added another 5 on each end I barely got 3 as he had his hands on my elbows giving me a little nudge.
I racked it and he stripped off some weight so it was a plate, a quater and a 5 on each end and he let me rest for 90 seconds then he made me do that for 20 reps. I gotta say...after rep 14 I couldnt hear the music in the backround anymore and I wanted to quit after rep 17 but he pushed me until I got 20. I was wrecked.
I wanted to do laterals afterwards but he wouldnt let me eplaing to me to keep the faith as I did more than enough. I'll admit...I usually never ever get sore in my shoulders but the next day I felt like I had bad sunburn all over my torso, my LATS, triceps, abs, neck and delts.
-
In no way would I ever be selfish enough to say Justin Harris or Steve Kuclo are where they are with my help.....they have done everything 100% themselves and they and they alone created that strength/physique.

Dog crapp, why is that a sad thing? It's really no big deal, it's a guy with a incline press video and others speculating on what he can bench...happens all the time. Do you think, from that video not months later, that Troponin could get more than say 14-15 reps with the 315? maybe now he can but in that video I would say it would have been right about 14 or so. That's obviously very good, but usually that would correlate with a mid 4's bench. If you were to guess, where would you place a bench press if a guy could get 315/incline for 12-14 reps?
-
Cormier is a really strong PRESSER. He has a really good incline press, I believe. Some people are stronger on the incline press than flat presses. I dont think there's a secret to Justin pressing that 12 times...dude is just a fkn strong raging bull...bottom line.
I wouldnt ever put Justin Harris and Cormier in the same sentence. I reckon that if Cormier trained with 1/8th the focus and intensity of Justin he'd be a 3 time ASC winner...instead of being distracted by 'drama'.
I'm fascinated by DC training but I also know it probably doesnt work for everyone and there is more than one way to skin a cat. Like legbreaker said...tell Paul Dillet all of this. He's as big as they get and it was rumored he trained light and trained with half a heart and only one ball.
-

Dear John
Ronnie Coleman does that 800 lb dead with straps, a ton of drugs and weighs close to 300 lbs. There are many powerlifters who have much more impressive lifts than that one. Without straps and a suit. While impressive Ronnies lifts are not the strongest out there. Also, your post written to look like a letter was being done on here 4 years ago. Maybe a new, up to date method of posting can help you on your quest to sound funny.
You friend forever

i had a training partner who could do 10 reps with 315 on a high incline and 20 reps with 315 on the flat bench and his max single on flat bench was exactly 500.
-
I trained using DC style principles for a while so that's what I was thinking. I was wondering why they were using the clean and presses seeing as most people seem to be against it.
I used the clean and press earlier this year for a couple of months but my low back is trashed from working in a shop for 10 years so it didn't handle that movement real well. I worked up to some "decent" poundages in the time I used them, considering I started at never doing them before.
I've heard of people working some things into thier dc routines that I would never even consider but if they can make it work then go with it.

you guys are talking utter shit, if you wanna see how a real bodybuilder trains for mass and extreme size,
I reccomend you watch shari kamalis training video,
he squats and deadlifts over 800 pounds for reps.

Bro, theres a kid who trains with him itnthe video, that is actually physically sick from the intenesity,
I am actually of the opinion that shari could have set world powerlifting records and won WSM if he hadnt taken up the extreme sport of bodybuilding.

yeah kamali could have been a fatty boy 365days of the year then as opposed to 361

I'm not saying he doesn't work "hard" I'm saying he doesn't work "smart"
take 100lbs off some of those movements and at least try to do some full reps, or something.

DC is a lot of fun, and very intense.
It's like anything though, you get what you put into it.
The hardest part of DC is that you have to be motivated to go all out every single time you go to the gym. You only really get one chance to "grow." You get your set, and that's pretty much it, so you have to be ready to put a whole workout into that set.
For me, the part I enjoy most about training is the progress. I never began lifting to be a bodybuilder, it was the furthest from my mind. I wanted to get bigger and stronger for sports. And for the first 8 years or so of my lifting, that was the main goal.
So, I still enjoy seeing progress and improvements in strength more than improvements in physique, even though I compete in bodybuilding competitions.
As for DC training, it has really brought up my strength in some movements. Chest strength has been the biggest improvement.
I was stuck at around 315lbs for 8 reps for a few years. My chest is a weak point on my physique, and I had been trying many things to bring it up. My last DC workout before my most recent "cruise," was incline bench. I did 355lbs for 10/4/3 in a rest pause fashion. So, I've jumped up around 50lbs in that movement in the past year, which has been great. Hopefully it will correspond to new chest size the next time I compete.

Troop, lots of guys are asking why you guys chose the clean and press as part of your rotation and how it worked for you.
speak on this if you can.

We were starting a new rotation, and needed a shoulder movement. It just seemed like a difficult movement. We really didn't put any thought into it. lol

how'd it work out for ya? I tried it but my low back couldn't handle it so I dropped it kinda quickly.

Made me realize just how horrible my cardiovascular conditioning is. lol
We kept them in for a whole "blast," but we really didn't get much stronger on them. It ended up being breathing as a limitation for the exercise, as opposed to strength.

I'll admit...I usually never ever get sore in my shoulders but the next day I felt like I had bad sunburn all over my torso, my LATS, triceps, abs, neck and delts.
as I understand it that's not really how a dc session for shoulders should go. Seems like you did a little too much work and DC guys usually don't do strip sets.
I woulda just did my warm ups and taken weight I could get 8 good reps with and get my 8, nice slow controlled negatives and when I failed I'd rack it take 12-15 deep breaths and go again-you should get 2-4 reps and when you faill, rack it again, another 12-15 deep breaths and go again, this time when you fail rack it, wait abot 10 seconds and do a static hold for about 20 seconds-you'd only lower the weight about 1/4 of the way and hold it...once you're done there, that's it then you do you're stretch.
Next time up the wieght or shoot for more reps, trust me it don't seem like much on paper but going heavier and heavier for more and more reps will kick you're ass.

i didn't realize his legs were that big, awesome sweep.

I remember reading about Troops pre, during and post workout nutrition...I was wondering if he would be kind enough to post it here. It was a good read but I can't remember where I read it, I know he takes in a shake before, during and after training but I can't remember the carbs to protien ratio's.

Well, it's understandable why he can squat 500 for 15-20 reps. :o

Here is what I currently do on my "high carb" days. I alternate carb amounts all year, even in the offseason. Obviously each person will be different, so out of respect for my clients, I will only say what I am currently doing.
I train at 9:30 in the morning, so I will give the timing of the meals here:
9:00: 50g waxy maize, 30g whey isolate ion-exchange, 10g BCAA's
during workout: (I finish about 15min before I'm done training) 50g waxy maize, 10g BCAA's, 5g whey isolate, 5g L-leucine
10:45: 110g waxy maize, 10g BCAA's, 5g L-leucine, 45g whey isolate ion exchange
I have 2 cups white rice and 6oz of cooked chicken breast at 12:30
For a long time I had been taking the 45g whey isolate about 15min after the waxy maize post workout, in an attempt to keep the osmolality of the Waxy Maize as low as possible. I've experimented both ways, and I'm currently adding the protein into that meal to see if I notice a difference.
-
Trop, what do u honestly think of the taste of waxy maize?
-
FAWK!
I could read this guys teaching like...all fkn day long. If MD was smart they'd lose that guy...what's his name? Loves mountains of ebony muscle. I forget his name and get Justin here his own monthly column.
Isn't vitargo the same as waxy maize?
Sf and BF...I am glad to see as an associate and stockholder in The Squad that Justin and Stevie K are 100% Squad APPROVED.

Mixed with crystal light, it tastes good. The texture doesn't change, but that texture is why it works well, so I deal with it.

Waxy Maize and Vitargo are both high molecular weight carbohydrates (which is why they work well), but they are different. Vitargo has changed it's formula at some point in recent years. It now tastes less sweet, and mixes more easily. I think they changed from a waxy maize starch to a barley starch.
There are many versions of a waxy maize starch. I don't know the specifics, as I don't produce it, but I know that trueprotein went through at least 13 variations of waxy maize before they found one that worked and was palatable.
You can also get a high molecular weight carb from potato sources, if I'm told correctly.

No comment. I get into enough trouble on here.
Straight up. I know Ironman Magazine did a feature on Trop maybe a year ago. This guy has a whole fkn cult following. In my eyes Chad and eh...yea that other guy are like...corporate franchise "gurus". I'd rather have Chad cover GEAR and bodybuilding pharmecuticals more often than plugging NutrX and constantly constantly talking about Ronnie being full and correcting Ronnies offseason diet. Guys like Ronnie are NOT in a category as 99% of us. Ronnie eats fkn french fries and pizza during his pre-contest prep as he told Jay Leno in 2002.
Fk advice from Dexter. He has a typical metabolism of a eh...ummm...all I'm saying is he doesnt have to do cardio and BRAGS about it and diets for like 2 weeks before a show so when he says..."Yea, do 40 minutes of treadmill and lower your carbs" it's as meaningful to me as a Pauly Shore movie.
Ruhl, Henry...it's ludacris to even read thier 'Q&A'. Outside of Palumbo and Lewyllen and the Romano Factor...there's nothing els worth reading. Nothing. I think I buy it out of habit.
Imagine a column by Justin. 'Trop Says'. That's be GREAT! I'd buy it just for that...he can talk about trueprotein.com that's fine because from what my research shows me is that trueprotein is the most honest and legit company around with one goal in mind...quality.
Sure beats Gustavo telling us that he loves anatorp70 and CELL TECH is what made him gain 40lbs in 4 years.

Hahahahahaha! Yea...or how the reason why Jay finally wont he 'O' is because he used 'Adoplan' to switch on the dormant muscle fibers.
Lately I've been picking up Ironman Magazine. I noticed there are hardly EVER MuscleTech ads in it and I am not sure whybut it's probably why I've been buying that mag despite 'MuscleLinks' supps.

seems like the training info is more HIT related in Ironman, i kind of like that training series that Steve Holman and Jonathan Lawson had going in ther, Train, Eat and Grow or something like that, it was kind of fun to read.

Ron Harris has a good thing going with that 'A Bodybuilder is Born' series.
As of late I've been reading IM. It's a little bit more practical and has more scientific info. At least it doesnt have a 'Ask The Pros' Q/A section. The 'Q/A' are from more realistic people that we have a chance to build a physique similar to like John Hansen(who's a good friend of mine) rather than Markus Ruhl telling us..'Yea, do wide grip bench presses and eat 6 times a day and I do preacher curls for 3 sets of 16 '.
Latest issue as ZERO MuscleTech ads. Thank God.
I'd LOVE to see Jutin Harris with his own column in Ironman. Fawk MD...forget I even suggested that. Trop is too good for it. Maybe Trop should start his own thing. The mofo has enough street cred and following. At least it wont be month after month of Ronnie Coleman was too relaxed with his prep and his carbs were holding steady and he filled out better with yams or that other knucklehead BRAGGING about how great he is and how he likes mountains of ebony muscle.

It's not a shame. I would not mind looking like he does. He is a huge guy and very strong. That look is just not in the cards for me naturally and I don't plan to anything else so I will just have to live with how I look now.
As for me justifying my existence, that is just a lame comment. I would think you might conjure up something better before typing it.
One more time for the dim-witted, he is a VERY strong guy and I think that is an impressive feat. My comments had little to do with him and were not intended to belittle him in any way.
-
you don't eat a solid food meal before you train Trop?
I have a meal at 7:30-8:00am. 1 scoop egg white protein, 1 scoop whey isolate, and either grits or lower sugar oatmeal. Occasionally some cereal if the wife buys something good, which is rare.

No reason to eat "clean" like that.
-
How would you approach your 'low carb' days as far as what you use before, during and after training? How much would the waxy maize serving be lowered and would the protein amount increase?
In the offseason, I'll either drop the carbs from pre and during post workout, drop the during workout all together, or keep it the same and drastically cut carbs the rest of the day.
I'm only training 4x a week right now, and having between 3-4 high carb/cal days, so most of my training days are high carb.
Precontest, I drop the pre and during carb drink for the most part, unless I'm way ahead of schedule, and want to fill out some.
-

Why not?

Why not?
Because a calorie is a calorie and you only need so much protein. Your body can use simple carbs and fat just fine for energy.
Mike Mentzer knew that and did pretty well as a bodybuilder.

Explain to me how a calorie is a calorie?
Protein is nitrogen based, fat is carbon and hydrogen based, as are carbohydrates. How do they not differ in the body?
Just because you can use something for energy doesn't make it the most effective for that role.
Obviously protein can be used for energy, and in reality, the human body doesn't even need carbohydrates to survive, but the conversion of protein to useable glucose, or use of BCAA's directly by the body is a much less effective method of energy production than using glucose.
simple sugars are a great source of energy, and in fact, all carbohydrates are broken down to monosaccharides when they are absorbed through the small intestine, but when ingesting simple sugars, you have to deal with varied levels of blood sugar.
Glucose is only an effective energy source when it is available, so shortly after ingesting simple sugars, you're back to lacking an efficient energy source.
It's fun to say that a calorie is a calorie, and it's much more fun to eat that way obviously, but as far as an applicable use for bodybuilding, I don't buy it.
-
oh, sorry to interrupt your circle jerk over your dream muscleman.
go back to blowin you're hero adonis, it's better for your image cause everytime you post something you sound dumber and dumber. It's amazing how a guy who's in decent shape like you has no self esteem what so ever and has to be led around in life by another dude. You wanna talk about a circle jerk? Take his dick out of your mouth and start being a man for God's sake, it would be so much better for you.

I ate clean for a long time, and I don't anymore and find there is no difference.
Have you ever tried it Trop.?

I haven't said a word about him until you came in here being a dick, there was good practical advice being given out. Non of this "I eat anything I want but there's science behind it....but I won't tell you bullshit."

of course I've tried it. I didn't even think about being a bodybuilder for the first 8 years I trained. And I looked like I didn't eat like a bodybuilder.
There is a difference between eating clean, and detailing a diet to achieve your goals.

I don't know what Chris looks like, but if what you say is true then that is exactly the most basic example of how strength increases do not correlate with larger muscles. At my strongest, I was not my biggest and many powerlifters are perfect examples of this as well. Anyone that handles big weight deserves credit just as anyone that's developed a legit high level physique. This thread is about Troponin and should stay that way.
-
Getbig is lucky to have Trop here.
Not only is he a beast in the gym but he knows his stuff when it comes to nutrition.
Here are several good threads by Trop on waxy maize for those interested.

Come on now, you can't compare like that between two individuals, you should only compare the individual to himself. Do you think Chris Mason was bigger when he was pulling 200lbs less? What are the chances of that?
Do you think Troponin could increase his pull by say 100lbs while getting smaller?!! Like I said, if he ever gets a 800 pull I think it's safe to say he will be bigger than he is now.

Maybe in Troponin's case it's safe to say (because he is a bodybuilder and getting bigger/better is probably a concern) but in most strength athletes case it is NOT safe to assume that a increase of 100 pounds on a deadlift will correspond with increase in size...not at all. Just look at the experts in the field of powerlifting, they can increase poundages while maintaining a weight class. I've handled many big weights and definitly was NOT my biggest when I did. A 17 year old football player that got a scholorship to Florida State last year came to me benching 335 at 270, 6 months later he was over 4 hundred but weighed in at 275...That's simple and very well understood among strength coaches and bodybuilders. Vin, are you a competitor in bodybuilding or powerlifting or weightlifting? If so you should understand this and if not then I understand why it's not believeable to you....It's the things you learn when actually hands on that defy logic, although this is very logical.

I have competed in bb a long time ago but I'm just a student of weight lifting nowadays LOL.
I know perfectly well that it's possible to increase your max without increasing bodyweight. A powerlifter trains his nervous system, polishes his technique, learns to use the gear better and on and on. The guy you're talking about sounds like a novice at best, and research tells us that during the first 6 months of training the strength gains are neural in nature. Just an example.
If we take an advanced bodybuilder like trop, who does deadlifts or benches in a bodybuilding context, which includes a higher rep range compared to a powerlifter, a different execution of the lift etc he will get bigger as he gets stronger. It is extremely unlikely he could add 100lbs to his dead at this stage of his lifting career without adding mass.
If he decided to become a pure powerlifter and did a bunch of low rep work only and polished his technique he could add some strength without getting bigger, but not in the context we are talking about where the exercises are done within a bodybuilding program.

While I understand the logic it really isn't that simple. The football player is a kid that has been training since age 14 so, yes, he is a novice weight lifter, but still at it 4 years and will be a pro lineman one day.
I certainitly am not a novice and have been training 25 years. I was probably my strongest (in basic lifts) in 2002 at a bodyweight of 260 and not 2003 at a bodyweight of 320...were my muscles bigger at 320, yes, but not stronger in a total max effort. In Troponin's case, like I said he probably will be bigger as he gets stronger because that is his focus, I believe, however if getting bigger was NOT his focus he could still get stronger. In any case it's an interesting discussion.
Actually I need to add that I was my strongest in many lifts in 95-6 at about 250- 60 and not 02.

Fixed it for you. Nobody is stealing my lunch.
Well if he eats you then it looks like he gets your lunch too!
Troponon,
Do you think you could deadlift 225 x 112 like TA claims to?

I dont get the example given....many powerlifters are trying to stay in weight classes while increasing their strength. How does trying to keep at the same bodyweight coerelate here. Ive yet to see anyone get muscularly larger who didnt have to eat up to the next level in bodyweight. A powerlifter who does everything in his power to stay in the 242 or 275 class eating wise is going to remain a 242 or 275 pound powerlifter regardless of his strength increase. But have a 242'er who wants to become a 275'er by actually eating his way up there and "not limit nutritional intake" and IMO youll see someone gain a great deal of muscle mass. I always see people use "well i know this strong ass individual" or "look at so and so powerlifter" as examples in this strength/size argument and I dont get the relationship it has to the argument. Are they actually trying to get muscularly larger eatingwise?
I use strength "gains" over time while eating up to the next level in size as tools with my guys. I could care less about a 176 pound guy deadlifting 455 who eats to stay at 176 pounds. Thats absolute strength, not strength gains over time (with the aforementioned eating to get larger). Im not going to overlook the fact that there are 400 pro bodybuilders and the 2 guys with the most incredible 800 pound deadlifts also have the largest traps and 2 inch thick muscle mass on their upper backs compared to their compadres.
Flex Wheeler and Chris Cormier, both incredible genetics, the ergo playing field was equal, one guy lifted very heavy weights (Cormier) and one guy lifted moderate (Wheeler). Wheeler actually was proven to have a myostatin mutation even. His heaviest bodyweight onstage? I believe it was 238 and he usually competed at 223 to 228. Cormier? 248 to 262 (25lbs more of muscle mass) and I doubt youll find many people that would give the edge to Cormier there genetically.
They are all using the same things ergowise and they are all elite with genetics but I havent seen too many pro's who were known as "lighter training blood volume pumping" bodybuilders noted for being ungodly massive.......while Yates, Mike Francois, Branch Warren, Victor Richards, and Coleman who trained like "powerbuilders" have taken muscular size up to new levels. Heck if strength gains has nothing to do with muscle mass we might as well stick with the 135lb deadlifts, 135lbs bench press and 135lbs squats for the entire lifting career....why risk injury?

Is this guy a bber?

go back to blowin you're hero adonis, it's better for your image cause everytime you post something you sound dumber and dumber. It's amazing how a guy who's in decent shape like you has no self esteem what so ever and has to be led around in life by another dude. You wanna talk about a circle jerk? EVerytime someone posts about your boy you come running to the rescue.
Take his dick out of your mouth and start being a man for God's sake, it would be so much better for you.
Hahaha, watch out natural al, he might divulge some cutting edge info on carb depletion. ::)

Doggcrapp, because of the back and forth a while ago I want to say I am not trying to discredit your program here. There are many different discussion that could go on here so I will keep it to the positives. I agree 100% about stimulus and food intake to build big muscles. I also do not believe in the "light, pumping " theory or way to train. I do believe in volume for experienced bodybuilders, but in no way does that mean light weight and pumping type speed on reps. As for the parts of the d.c. program that I'm familiar with and agree with is the need to do lots of stretching (active, passive, between sets etc and therapy stretching as well). I do not agree with the basic and simple doggcrap priniciple of the beating the log book. I've been around a long time, trained with many mr america, universe winners, competed and won and lost shows, gained muscle, lost muscle, had training periods from training for sports, bodybuilding, fitness etc and trained (as you have) many competitors and winners of teen nats, juniors and many shows over the years and have my own opinions. Once again, I do not discredit your program, to each their own and honestly from what I know there are only a couple things I do not agree with.
This is a good discussion. Others can put their thoughts as well and maybe Trop can stay around.

I'm kinda sorry that I posted that as this thread was moving along pretty well and I didn't mean to ruin it.
anyway, I wanted to give it the old "bumperoni" cause I think there was some pretty good information in here...not just dc information but good information for anyone to take out of here and at least look at.
I'm using DC-no secret there-and I just started hack squatting for the first time in my life. I'm starting off super light to save my lower back and keeping the reps pretty high for now, right at 20. I'm going ass to ankles. I started off with 2 45's total and have been adding a little weight each time. It'll be real interesting to see where I end up. I did the same thing on the hammer v-squat, this is kinda a hybrid squat/hack squat machine. I started really light and kept the reps high to save my lower back. Last workout I hit 405 for 22 reps. Next blast starts on Tuesday and I'm hoping to get up over 500lbs before all is said and done. I'm also looking to break 1000lbs on the leg press before the end of the year.
