Title: Best Workout In Years.
Post by: suckmymuscle on July 11, 2011, 04:45:13 PM
Here's the thing. Yesterday, I was at a dinner with friends, and they served French cheeses with Cabernet as an appetizer. I ate massive amounts of Camembert, Gruyére and Comté. I started to feel dizzy and full, so I excused myself and went home to sleep. Today, I went to the gym to do a chest/shoulders wokout and I was massively stronger. I benched 315 lbs for 6 clean reps with the bar touching my chest. The previous workout, I did 3 reps with this weight. I front military pressed 180 lbs for 8 reps. This is a rep less than I did in my previous workout...but with 50 extra pounds stacked on the bar!!!!!! Not only that, I felt a lot fuller after the workout and I am feeling no soreness whatsoever.

Here is my theory: cheese, and especially French cheeses, are extremely rich in CLA. And unlike the CLA in supplements which the body does not absorb and utilize at all, the CLA in cheese is extremely bioavailable. Cheese and raw whole milk contain a lot of other fatty acids and co-factors that dramatically increase the body's ability to utilize CLA. The problem is that eating fatty French cheeses every day is not a solution, not only because these cheeses are extremely expensive, but also because, given the amount of saturated fats and Sodium they have, eating them every day is almost a garanteed myocardial infarction or stroke in less than a year. You should eat something that is 50% saturated fat in massive amounts no more than a few times a year.

I have come to the conclusion that CLA is the best bodybuilding supplement. End of story. Nothing else comes even close. Forget nitric oxide. Forget creatine, HMB, Glutamine, etc. This shit is for real. What supplement companies need to do is figure out a CLA in synthetic form that the body can actually absorb dammit.

French cheeses have over twice the amount of CLA that Americans cheeses have due to the fact that French cows graze and eat grass whilst American cows are raised in confinement and eat mostly grains:

I suspect that EFAs won't work. Cheese has little EFAs but a lot of saturated fatty acids. Unfortuntely, it seems like what increases CLA absorption are saturated fats.

So, since I eat a lot of saturated fats in the morning (usually 4 whole eggs with 4-5 oz of cheese, sharp cheddar or pepperjack, maybe it would be ideal to down a huge dose of CLA every morning with breakfast? Do you think this will be effective? What dose of CLA? Maybe cook my eggs in butter instead of olive oil? Then eat clean rest of the day?

You shouldn't be eating saturated fats anyway except for maybe palmitic and lauric acids which are healthy, Eating saturated fatty acids offer no health benefits besides slightly increasing the absorption of vitamins D and A. It might also increase the absorption of CLA, which is healthy and anabolic, but whatever health benefits it gives you are far outweighted by the deleterious effects on your cardiovascular system and insulin sensitivity. It is not worth it.

Saturated fats won't hurt you. Fats that will hurt you are any overly processed ones or tampered with ones. Avoid: Vegetable oils, canola oil, margarine, any sort of trans fat or deep fried fats. Also fats from animals raised with conventional farming methods.

Saturated fats from animals raised on grass without pesticides, hormones, antibiotics etc are all good.

People have been eating those sort of animal fats for a very, very long time. Instances of heart disease have increased with the introduction of wheat flour products and sugar and then increased further with the introduction of vegetable oils.

Yeah...but people used to exercise a lot before cars and most machines were invented...and there was no high-fructose corn syrup and sucrose(fructose + glucose) to raise blood tryglyceride levels even further than what a diet high in saturated fats already raise them. So a diet high in saturated fats was not as harmful then as it is now. You are comparing apples and oranges.

Sure, but we are discussing why your example doesen't apply: in a World where most people do eat a lot of sugar and exercise little, eating a diet rich in saturated fats is a diaster. Eating a lot of sugar in a diet poor in saturated fats is not harmful to your cardiovascular system.. But eating saturated fat with such a diet is disastrous due to the increase in LDL cholesterol caused by saturated fats, which gets oxidized because you are burning sugar instead of fats for energy. You cannot compare this to a Pleolithic tribe in the cold of winter that gets all its energy from saturated fats and burns it all because there are no carbs in their diet and they walk all day long. Apples and oranges. Your advice in our modern era is disastrous.

You seem awfully aggressive for a female. That is what I assumed, since you call yourself a "widow" and not a "widower". Or maybe you are just an angry stupid guy like I suspected you to be. Anyways, never have I stated that I added 100 lbs to my lifts by eating cheese. I made the observation that I was much stronger the day aftr eating a lot of cheese, and I hypothesized that the CLA in cheese might explain it.

Exactly! What I don't get is why all the hate. So you ate cheese and had a great workout. It's not like you're trying to sell anyone snake oil or anything. And like I said, I like cheese, specially French cheese. In fact Camembert is one of my all time favorite cheeses.

For a real treat, take a couple of slices of really good French bread, spread butter on them then spread a nice sized slice of Camembert on the bread, pair this sandwich with a good glass of wine and you'll feel like you've died and gone to heaven.

He is just a troll looking for attention, using a lot of meanie words to tell everyone that he is a "real man", or an "alpha male" and that he can curse more than other guys and use more potty language.

Preaching to the choir, bro. This weekend I plan on eating some fondue and I will use a variety of French cheeses for the dip. I will wash it down with a Caballo Loco Nb 3, a wine that I have been saving in my cellar for almost 10 years. It is Carmenére based, so it should go perfectly with strong French cheeses.

Not as bad as using the picture of your boyfriend as your avatar and telling the whole World you are into bestiality - I understand he is the only male that'll ever love you, but still you shouldn't advertise such a taste publicly .   If you read what I wrote, you would see that I stated that I would never do this on a regular basis for health reasons and that supplement companies need to figure out a way to get the CLA in supplement form to be more bioavailable. Learn to read, dumby.

I said it wouldn't hurt you to include saturated fats in your diet. You stated that it wouldn't be good for health reasons with the reasoning that it would be "disasterous" in this day and age to include these fats due to sedentary lifestyle and a diet high in high fructose corn syrup and sucrose. You have included yourself in this group of people as you stated you are concerned about a garaunteed heart attack. If you don't eat that stuff then there shouldn't be a problem.

My diet is fairly high on carbs, and I am not giving them up to eat saturated fats because ketogenic diets don't work for me. I need carbs to run. Therefore, I am included in the group of people who shouldn't eat saturated fats. I am not a hunter from the Paleolithic era who walks 20 miles a day and is exposed to the freezing cold of winter.

Unsaturated and polyunsatured have to do with the amount of bonds your body can easily break. Unsaturated has one point where the structure can be broken, poly usually has 2. It decreases the amount of work your body has to do to break the fat down. Unsaturated is technically better for you.

Forget creatine, HMB, Glutamine, etc. This shit is for real. What supplement companies need to do is figure out a CLA in synthetic form that the body can actually absorb dammit.
