Got to bed around 11-11:30 get up at 7.
-
sleep at midnight, wake up 5am
horrible for recovery they say
-
I only get about five hrs a night and work 7days a week so rest isn't great. My ideal week off work would be each day training, back to bed, watch some films and eat loads and sleep loads
-
roughly trying to keep 7-8 hours
-
Sleep less, quality goes up. Sleep longer, quality goes down.
It's like the grams-per-pound protein rule, it doesn't matter except when it's excessive....
-
Another interesting subject, so I GOOGLED to find out what the experts have to say ...
Infants …….14 to 15 hours
Toddlers ….12 to 14 hours
School-age children ……10 to 11 hours
Adults …..7 to 9 hours
ANd that is what they said.

Depends on what time your mom has breakfast ready....

I have never woken up feeling rested in my entire life

Ok, but a bodybuilder doesn't need more sleep, maybe more rest but that's a different thing.

I have never woken up feeling rested in my entire life
That's kind of sad. I am far from a ball of fire in the morning but a good night's sleep followed by a cup of coffee and I'm ready to go. The coffee isn't a necessity either

I guess it would be worse if I knew how feeling rested actually felt and never felt it again.
-
I tried working out early in the morning one time (because I read Bill Pearl did it, I think), but it's horrible. I can hardly lift my toothbrush, let alone a dumbell... :-\
-
My whole life I have never slept well. I am a very light sleeper.
I could set an alarm, but that is pointless. I'm gonna wake up before it goes off anyway.
I can take naps after a workout, but not for long.
-

i fell asleep this after noon and went to the gym 10 minutes after waking up
i could only squat my 10 rm squat for 3
sleep kills strength

From 6 to 12 hours.
It's all in the head... though I would recommend 8 hours to be safe.

7 hours.

But I can workout late at night, take a quick shower and sleep like a baby immediately. Friend of mine can't sleep if he trains after 7 PM...

Asleep by 10:00PM up by 4:30AM

SWEDE!
This may help ..... (I did not write it though. I just copied and pasted it!
It could be stress, which thoughts are keeping you mentally alert at all times. Or it could be an external thing: bedroom/sleeping environment, physical activity during the day, what you consume through the day, if you develop a routine in the evening. All these things could contribute to the quality of sleep you're getting. So, your sleeping environment: it should be cool, but not uncomfortably so. Comfortable with PJs and covers on. It should be calming colors like blue, brown, cream, marroon, soft orange. Also, try some kind of "white noise" like clear radio static or put a little fan in your room. Next, try to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, and not more than 2 hours before bed. Your body may still be running on adrenaline 2 hours after your exercise. Then, what about what you're eating? No eating after dinner, if you can help it. And, if you can develop a bedtime routine, it will help put you into a mental flow of "now it's time for bed". Also, if on big test days, or big event days, it's okay to take a OTC sleep aid, but try not to take it everyday. If you feel like stress is the cause, exercise, journal, watch a funny tv show before bed, talk to a loved one on the phone before bed. But, if instincts tell you that you have something else going on, listen.

8-8.5hrs. Less, and I build up sleep debt. More, and my lower back takes longer to uncoil.

Speaking of SLEEP .... How bout DREAMS?
I have dreams in which I could swear I was actually there.
Most of them are about losing my rifle while getting overrun but others are about being in our summer home while it fell into the river .... an actual ocurrance a while back.
I also had three occasions where the dreams I 'dreampt' became reality ... one was the death of a relative who passed away the day after I drempt it.
The other was someone or something falling from a high-rise balcony to the street below.
My cousin and her three kids happened to live on the 23rd floor of a high rise apartment building so I called her on the phone and told her to lock the sliding door to that balcony.
She did lock it but she unknowingly also locked Boots (the family cat) out on that balcony and the next morning Boots was splattered all over the parking lot.
That cat only had one live to give to his country but he did it pretty spectacularly if anyone had the opportunity to see that fall.
The other dream is too damn long for this Board but someday I'll condense it.

Lucid dreaming. Take advantage of them but stay Calm or you will wake up. You can littartly make Anything happen. People have even gotten over depression because of learning how to lucid dream and talk to recently passed on family members etc.
-
In modern psychology the explanation of dreams is kind of abandonned. It seems to be just brain waste being processed. Dreams predicting the future do not exist. You just remember the ones that seem to do it....it's coincidence.
-
You guys fly in your dreams? Happens to me almost every 2nd or 3rd day and I love it ;D

What if dreams is the true dimension and "reality" is actually a dream my son?

My dreams are better than my real life. Very cartoon-like, and gravity-defying. They're awesome.

Bunch of times.
But only Once in a Lucid dream. Apparently its hard to do it without waking up but I managed it once. Threw myself forward and managed to stop an inch or two over the ground and just floated and after a little while I learned how to actually fly!
-
"LUCID DREAM" ... I gotta research that.
How about .... the most hours anyone has remained awake?
I can't think of any time that I have remained away for over 36 hours and that was fooking miserable in the desert at Twenty Nine Palms watching the clouds turn into people and places I had known many years earlier.
-

Well maybe it is. Cogito ergo sum, that's about it..

"its memories" and thats about it

I have three recurring dreams and sometimes they're lucid dreams:
1) Dream I'm being pursued. I never get caught, but sometimes I get confronted and I always escape.
2) Dream I'm flying. I always start flying high, but towards the end I can't get more than a few feet off the ground.
3) Dream of a worldwide disaster involving water and having to flee the planet.
-

It's happening to me at least 3-4 times a week now, for the last 2-3 years. It's either that or I just levitate around a foot or so above the ground and glide, while everyone else is walking (and staring at me, while I glide past, lol). I've also had the same dream a few times, where I'm gliding down a gentle, but long slope that looks like the Great wall of China (never been there). Amazing feeling when you recall it and "remember" the sensation of flight.

Those are about the most common recurring dreams.

I knew there was a reason she had such a big smile during breakfast this morning.

Not always, but more times than not. Flying is damn near impossible to control most times, but the gliding is always cool.

I just researched FLYING DREAMS because I do that a lot and here is what one "expert" has to say ..
Flying dreams fall under a category of dreams known as lucid dreams. Lucid dreams occur when you become aware that you are dreaming. Many dreamers describe the ability to fly in their dreams as an exhilarating, joyful, and liberating experience.
If you are flying with ease and are enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation. You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a new and different perspective on things. Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight is representative of your own personal sense of power.
Having difficulties staying in flight indicates a lack of power in controlling your own circumstances. You may be struggling to stay aloft or stay on set course. Things like power lines, trees, or mountains may be obstacles that you encounter in flight. These obstacles symbolize something or someone who is standing in your way in your waking life. You need to identify what or who is trying to prevent you from moving forward. Difficulty flying may also be an indication of a lack of confidence or some hesitation on your part. You need to believe in yourself and not be afraid.
If you are feeling fear when you are flying or that you are flying too high, then it suggests that you are afraid of challenges and of success. Perhaps you are not ready to take the next step.
In reality, we cannot really fly, of course. Thus, such dreams can be representative of things that are beyond your physical limitations. In your mind, you can be anybody and do anything. Another way of interpreting flying dreams is that these dreams symbolize your strong mind and will. You feel undefeatable and that nobody can tell you what you cannot do and accomplish. Such dreams are sure to leave you with a great sense of freedom.

Not true. You can defenitly fly without it being a lucid dream :) I actually think thats more common then not.

Don't apologize to me, send my mom some flowers instead, you brute ;D

Not enough, but anywhere from 0-6, never sleep more than 6 and always wake up multiple times during the night.

I had lots of flying dreams, but only one of those was lucid. That one was very cool, when I woke up I tried to get it back but it never happened again...

I don't sleep while any traveling. Air travel means the bar. Not the hardy aviator I used to be. :-\

No details here but I've been in way too many aircraft mishaps to be comfortable during flights any more.
I'm one of those passengers who think that the pilot will fall asleep as soon as I close my eyes, so I'm wide awake the entire flight.
But a short while back my brother gave me a pill that was supposed to be divided into four equal parts and I was supposed to take one of those four parts, but I was in a rush and forgot to break it into four parts and took the whole dame pill as I got on my 6 hour flight.
I fell asleep before taking off and had to be shaken awake after all the other passengers had departed.
And then good friends met me at the baggage claim area and wanted to go out drinking and I was still too damn stupored to say,"No!".
So after a couple of very strong Margaritas at a high class Mexican restaurant, my head fell asleep into my enchaladas and I ended up getting carried out of the hacienda and woke up two days later feeling like I was ready to start the 'party' all over once again.
So we hopped in the car and drove to Las Vegas.
What the hell was in that pill anyway!?

I mean, for a transatlantic flight, whatever, it's fine but really long ones like 12 hours+...it sucks.
-
No, SWEDE! That particular episode I described above was ZANEX Part 1. (Wrong spelling maybe)
But I can write many hundreds of Hangover episodes.
-
Speaking of transatlantic flights (transpacific) a family member just flew down to NZ direct from LAX and the 13 hour flight cost $14,000 dollars. It was something like Ultra First Class which of course includes pajamas and little bunny slippers and a private sleeping area.
I am told that if I fly down to see them while they are in NZ, they'll pay for my $900 ticket. Those cheap bastids!!!

Bet you have sleep apnea too...with a wicked snore.

damn I wish I could get a FULL 5 hours of sleep for once.

I remember when i was training in school and growing the best i ever did in those first few years, i would need a lot more sleep. Now i can't sleep in unless i have multiple late nights in a row.
-
6-8 here, but when undisturbed i can sleep for 12 hours or more.
-
I love sleep. Schooldays, I get around 8. Weekend, 10+ hours, easily.
-
I sleep anywhere between 7 and 9 hours. Occassionally I will sleep 10 hours though.

no usually i devide it into two parts (happens naturally because i have to piss ;) )
usullay i take this interruption also to eat a quick protein snack, what actually makes a big difference
i think sleeping more than 8 hours without a snack is to catabolic

3-14. I'm that hardcore. Until I'm that exhausted. Repeat. Learn nothing.
You guys fly in your dreams? Happens to me almost every 2nd or 3rd day and I love it ;D
Only 3 or 4 times in my life that I recall. The one swooping over a forest and practicing tilting my hands and getting awesome results sticks with me the most.

I sleep anywhere from 4 - 10 hours depending on what I have to or not have to do the next day... I suck at getting in bed early enough, and I pay the price by waking up early the next day. 7-8 hours is what my "mind" is always shooting for, as it is the bodybuilding rule of thumb, but I know damn well that Im not even close sometimes. However, sleep can be overrated and if you sleep too long, it will only backfire on you. Once in a while it can be good to let the body rest properly, but its not advicable to wake up late in the morning as your metabolism will be much more slower than your used to, and you miss important hours/meals during the day. Sleep is not as important for growth as nutrition is. It is better to have your nutrition in check and sleep less, than it is to have your nutrition screwed and sleep more.
True approved.

Where is he?
He died in his sleep...

A couple minutes and I'm good
Is this the key massive gains on upright rows BDB?

I managed 42 hours straight couple weeks ago when school started. I promptly quit my night stocking job haha. I am a little poorer (hardly possible but it's somehow happened) but I feel 10000x better for it.
-
I have gone 3 days with no sleep a few times, was a zombie and weak as a baby. Finally got sleep from 7mg of Zopiclone
-
How much do you sleep is genetic IMO. My dad and my brother sleep around 9 hours per night BUT they also take an afternoon nap of 2-3 hours. In the other hand, I sleep about 7 hours per night, and if I take an afternoon nap then I can't sleep at night. My mom is the same as me.
-
Not enough.
-
8 hours
-
lately for the past few weeks its been..3-4oclock in the morning to 11-12. Horrible. :'( I woke up at 6 am today, nice to see what the morning looks like again. You just get into those bad patterns. Gotta pull an allnighter this week to reset my internal clock
