As the saying goes, "it's not what you do; it's what you get done". It doesn't matter if Centopani supposedly trains harder than Heath or "90% of pros nowadays". Heath has the Sandow; that's the bottom line.

Yes I use machines AFTER free weight
Eg pull downs to finish a back workout after the rows deads and chins...
From that vid you'd never believe wolf is critiqued  for having a lacking back
Watch Evan  low past a lot of guys this year

I know because that's what people want to believe because it gives them a easy way out...
Which is why that gh character is so famous he tells people what they want to hear....
But the proof is there to be seen all the guys with the thick dense muscle train hard
Eg Coleman Dorian ... In comparison to Heath and to some extent jay... The difference is clear

Yeah, the difference is clear to the people who know what to look for and have a good eye for the type of thing. Everything you said is true, hit the nail right on the head.

nothing is promised for tomorrow...there are tons of guys who are the "gym Mr. O" or the "2 weeks out Mr. O". Heath is the current Mr. O.

evan is the tomorrow Mr. O.  Than and $1 still adds up to $1.

he should win the arnold over 1-leg branch and dex.  my guess if he wins the A, he'll skip the O til 2013, doesn't have interest in doing 2 shows a year.  and there is no reason to get rocked by phil, jay and kai.  he's 2-3 yrs from giving phil any trouble.

Relatively strict form, but still with some explosiveness each rep.  Trains hard too.  Great work ethic.  Reminds me of how Dorian used to train, which is a good thing.  Saw the delt training video too; 80 lbs Arnold presses; this showed me that he's not into ego training; awesome.  Not sure if he'll ever win the Olympia, but seems like he'll be happy as long as he knows he gave it his all.

training is the most important thing but as long as you are going to failure or beyond, it doesn't matter how much weight is on the bar. i believe the haney approach is the best way, all the benefits of going heavy without getting injuries

For anyone to give two shits about the 'intensity' with which a pro trains is ridiculous. As if the pros owe it to themselves and the 'fans'  to be 'hardcore', lmao!! What are you, 12 years old?

So Smellthepanties trains hard? That is one of the most surprising things out there considering he's a pro BB. What a disgrace this sport is. Good to know that he invests some time in the gym in between two "lurking in the dark" sessions. He can win the AC no doubt, he's marketable. The 'O, only if they secure him a top 6 or even 4 spot and all expenses are covered. Otherwise, why would he even bother?

That's irrelevant. The real issue here is why anyone gives a shit about how a pro trains? I keep seeing this over and over, where people are "disgusted", "disappointed", "he's got no work ethic," "if he only did this and that he could be mr O" etc etc and it's weird/creepy that a grown man actually can be concerned about these things. You seem to have this idea that pros should only train to satisfy the criteria set by their schmoesfans.

probably because they feel like these pros are wasting their potential and once they got their pro card they just stopped really caring and just doing it for the money at that point. which isn't entirely out of the realm of reality considering how these pieces of shit talk about their steroid usage or non-usage.

hard to respect someone when they weigh 280 pounds and you see them curling 40 pounds for 1/4th rep "only for a pump" because they stopped trying and just resorted to abusing synthol.

i read online a guy trains in victor martino's gym and said he just does a few exercises with zero intensity, poses a little, and goes away and only trains like once every two weeks

Dont believe that one.....
you cant suddenly build up the intensity to deadlift 800lbs or bb row 600lb for video
... has to be common place before

Many, many people have commented on Ronnie doing deadlifts with 805 multiple times. It's not something he just did "for the camera". You don't fake intensity like that.

lol hard training...

HOW THE FUCK IS THAT HARD TRAINING?  DOING A SET OR  TWO OF DEADLIFTS WITH STRICT FORM IS SOMEHOW HARD?

haahahahahhahahhah and this is supposedly the key factor in a great physique?  a video of a guy doing  two taxing sets of deadlifts?

TRULY MINDBENDING WILLPOWER ON DISPLAY HERE!  HOW CAN HE ENDURE SUCH PUNISHMENT?

meso, you are a clown.  every thread you make is about "hard work" and "real training"... who gives a shit how you pick something up and put it down?  you, and people like you, get off on "training" because you have absolutely nothing else going for you in life, and have to pretend as if you're somehow great by endlessly yapping about this supposed distinction between "hard" and "lazy" trainers.

i see ten guys working out just as "hard" every time i step into the gym.  most of them are kids who think that monster physiques are built from pure willpower and nothing more, thanks to loser bodybuilders who hide their pathetic lives behind the mask of the self-sacrificing ascetic.  these sick souls deceive entire generations, entire cultures, into thinking bodybuilding is all about willpower, because no one would afford them any respect if they knew the truth...

It's because training is sacred to them, since they have no other merit in life.  And since training itself is a trivial activity, like cooking or gardening or picking rocks out of a dirt field, they have to lie to make it seem important, and get pissed off when high level bodybuilders show that you don't need these "heavy weights" or amazing "work ethics" and otherwise punch holes through the bullshit fantasies that these lowlife "trainers" build their image upon.

To be honest with you, I don't understand sport fans either. It's one thing to watch a game and enjoy the excitement that comes with it(I do that about once a year), but to criticize how professional athletes do their thing while you're sitting on your fucking couch is beyond me. It's the zenith of hypocrisy and douchebaggery.

Again I ask you or anyone else for that matter; how specifically does the training protocol of a drugged bodybuilder and how it's carried out affect you in any way, shape or form?

I always lol @ guys who post here that if certain pro used different form, intensity, rep ranges, or different exercises for certain bodyparts they would have built a better physique!

I guess if they only had the average getbig gym-rat to advise them how to work out who knows how much better pro physiques would be  ::)

Very poor example / logic.  The football field or the octagon is where the athlete performs, showing the result of their training.  That's analogous to the bodybuilder's stage, not the gym.  i.e. criticisms of how bodybuilders work out is analogous to criticizing how overeem spars or works out to get in shape for a fight.  Hardly any MMA fan will do this.  Discussing how brazil plays fotball is analogous to discussing how the bodybuilder holds certain poses, not how they work out when at home or their intensity, form, etc. in the gym.

We could all arrive at pretty much the same conclusions you do. I could look at a video of Flex and after careful analysis say that he's 'lazier' than average.

But I don't. Why? Because I don't give two shits and even if I did it would be pathetic to suggest that I hold the key to their greater success. If only they knew  ::)

Why do you care about the way they train? You obviously had enough incentive to make this thread and that's saying a lot so don't deny it. You don't merely analyze, you also give a shit. Why?

I also used to somewhat care about this stuff(when I was 19)... how the pro's look, who lifts more weight, who's going to win the O, does Jay inject synthol etcetc. But once you get something else to focus on in life(education perhaps?) then bodybuilding is of marginal interest.. ESPECIALLY how they train, rofl!

I obviously didn't set out to say that you don't have a right to you own opinion which is none of my business anyway... but I'm just curious why a grown man would start a thread calling out a professional bodybuilder on the intensity he lifts with  ::)

not really take shaqs free throw.... scenario....
you will hear 1000 people say he could do this or that to improve doesnt mean they all know what they are talking about.....
but people have opinions..
and my opinion is wolf is a lazy trainer.... same as flex and dillet....
and other bbers have the same opinions..... even flex wheeler when he became natural... said He doesnt know how people train without drugs.... he has said on many videos......watch me on this set or Ill cheat......
chris lund has commented on paul dillets laziness tooo
so not because these guys are huge mean they are above critique
....
wolf is as lazy as shit..
IMO
and that will stand no matter what is said...
and like i said ... watch EVAN

you obviously didn't understand what I said.  Nowhere did I say pro bb's are above critique.  I said how they train for their competition day (analogous to however a football player chosesto train/practice before their season or in between games) is often not cared about enough to critique.

Many, many people have commented on Ronnie doing deadlifts with 805 multiple times. It's not something he just did "for the camera". You don't fake intensity like that.

agreed. thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard.

how you train is far less important than how many drugs you take

for the time being, but it seems the guys with powerlifting backgrounds and who have trained everyday regardless, keep alot of their size into their older years.

training is the most important thing but as long as you are going to failure or beyond, it doesn't matter how much weight is on the bar. i believe the haney approach is the best way, all the benefits of going heavy without getting injuries

what I dont get is how do these guys you guys have energy to even train hard? I feel like shit on cycle, lethragic as all hell no way I could train until failure day in and day out. I mean maybe it's necessary past a certain point, but in order to get  a good solid build is easily attainable without training hard assuming your on drugs. Steroids make your body more sensitive to weight training anyways

Dorian said himself that back in the day, if he could've brought Flex back to England and trained him for a whole year, that Flex could've been Mr O.  I don't believe Dorian meant that he was going to work miracles on Flex's physique.  Just that he could've provided that little bit extra (physically and most of all mentally) with his training to get him over that hump.  Who here would tell Dorian in his face "BS" regarding his own workout intensity and that it wasn't necessary for his success?  Yes, drugs are a HUGE factor in upper-echelon bodybuilding.  But I'm pretty sure there's much more to it than that.

Haney's back was built with 185-225 pound barbell rows.....no ego training.

These guys today couldn't carry Lee's jock strap. IMHO

Deadlifting in socks or flat shoes is nothing new.

I`m sure he took off his shoes just to deadlift, then put them back on after he was done and moved on to the resat of his workout.

Years ago, lots of powerlifters pulled in their stocking feet or wore gymnastic shoes/slippers.

taking shoes off for deadlifts is the final desperate act of reducing range of motion
