i think getting strong as fuck is a priority when off drugs. if you want to get big you got to take gear but if you want to get pretty good strength, you can do this naturally and its probably a great base before taking drugs. I think strength progression is the priority with good form obviously if you want to get bigger naturally.

Old pic, but its the best shape I got in during my "career". Could of been harder, but it is what it is. I was on a diet for like 7 months and was pretty fed up at the end. Can it be done? Of course it can, but you have to sacrifice A LOT in order to get there. Basicly dont have a life.

I won`t get into this with you again,but remember,you can only speak for yourself and your experiences, which I believe are true, as you look good and look strong,but there are tons of young guys with better genetics than you and me who will gain muscle on more of a bodybuilding type of routine,rather than a 5 X 5 power type set up.

By no means am I a bodybuilder in the true sense of the world but I like to eat and like to lift.

Fine - I do not drink anyway. I have have 2x jobs. One FT for a Govt agency and another as a part-time doorman. I enjoy both. I get to see friends when I want pretty much.
How do you set up your diet?
Both my jobs enable me to eat as and when i want. I do not take protein shakes to work as I do find it a little awkward and embarrassing but I will generally take 1-2 shakes a day in the house. I bring a packed lunch to work and some fruit and I can buy extra sandwiches etc in shops near my work if I need to. I also drinka lot of water now.
How do you train (always relatively heavy)?
Gnerally I train heavy on at least one exercise per bodypart. I prefer to train smart rather than heavy and have found by cycling training poundages I can continuously make gains. I am aware they will become smaller over time but that is the way of things.
Do you rely heavily on supplementation?
I only havhe one functioning kidney so I limit myself to 1-2 protein shakes a day max. I do like to take ZMA occassionally as it is cheap and I do get very good sleeps and I will sometimes take a caffine supplement before training.
Do you stay relatively lean? Can it be done?
Yes, genetics and I think heavy training does play a part. I do not gorge myself on food nor do I starve myself. I do not have veins in my abs but i am lean. My arms are vascular and I have a 6 pack when I tense.

I am a TRUE natural but i am not posting a picture. I am not an inshape bodybuilder. Just a guy who likes to lift weights and train.

if you have a balanced diet and a moderate apetitite while being active being lean should not be very hard
maybe it depends on your age and body type as well (if body types exist or not i dont know)

My shape is very similar to this these days, and I am very pleased with that, but as far as mass go - I cant get much bigger than this naturally. These pictures were taking 5 years ago, and allthough I feel I have improved in many areas in my body compared to these pictures - I am basicly the same size. But thats ok, because I really dont want/need to get any bigger anyways. I am more concerned about staying lean these days, and do a lot of cardio compared to weight lifting. I have to go now, my family is here, but I can share more information later if needed. :)

I guess I should learn self control and not always eat so much. But I have a big appetite

I met a guy in my hometown gym back around 2000,he was about 23 years old, and had done one small cycle when he lived in California in the early 1990`s......he was training with IFBB pro Jeff Poulin at that time....Poulin saw potential then got him started on gear.
After that,he moved to Massachusettes which is where I met him.
Now one small cycle a few years before isn`t gonna` give you a ton of lasting muscle,plus he had stopped training for a couple of years and was a BMX bike champion.
Anyway,I got this kid competing in all natural contests where he kicked ass..............he had good limbs,and not so good torso muscles, but dieted strictly,did cardio,trained hard,and smart,and even entered some untested NPC shows where he always did OK in his weightclass.
He made sure to get a decent warmup,did 2-3 work sets,and 3-5 exercises per bodypart.
Had a life outside the gym too.
Another guy I trained,had been training over 20 years,I got him into contest condition,and he kicked ass on the natty as well as NPC stages.......never did gear,but was a former heroin user instead ............... one of the best Welterweight bodybuilders in the country,drugs or not.
Genetic freaks are out there and training hard,wish I was blessed in the muscle department instead of just being handsome with a big pecker! :(

Just by saying 'pathetic' means you have disdain for the gains you get drug free. For all the talk you do against naturals....you also bitch out when it comes to taking anything.
I was drug free up from the time I started in 1986 through the time I first pinned myself some 15-16 mos ago. NEVER did I have the thought that my gains were pathetic. I knew that the reality was if I gained 1 - 2lbs a year...of muscle, not this delusional permabulker shit weight, that I was ahead of the game. When I first did a show in 1989 my contest weight was something like 174.....my last show in 2008 my contest weight was 188 or so. Did I get all butt hurt about it? Nope. Stop trashing YOUR own choice and do something about it. Otherwise shut the fuck up.

depends on what i want to do, cut or bulk, adjust my macros and eat w.e i want , try to eat mostly unprocessed healthy shit, but having some sweets is fine if it fits your macros.
train hard, first off in the workout, i work my way up to a heavy set to bring up my big 3 lifts, and the rest is pretty heavy, good form hypertrophy.
maybe i take some fishoil.. ill start tommorow :D
not lean atm, but will get lean and stay there and just aim to get stronger until i get on gear

I posted my 'diet' a while back and was todl I ate like a figure competitor (LOL....had to laugh about that...seriously...was fucking funny).
I know what I should eat day in and day out. My cheat day is sunday...and sometimes, when I come home on Monday night I am so damn exhausted I say fuck it and have some m&m's.....otherwise its clean mon - thur with last meal on thursday being a cheat meal. Then back to clean friday and sat....My best meal of the week is my saturday night steak....I seriously look forward to that more than I do my thur night meal.
I am TOTALLY ADD when it comes to eating. I am loose about things, but other than that...I stick to what I know keeps me looking the way I want.

I never said eating better was bland, I actually think meats are the tastiest of foods, but you do need to cut out on cookies, pizzas, ice cream and all that in order to control calories and satiation better, specially if youre not taking fat loss drugs.
In the end, the habits you create for yourself will make you, I just dont want to eat sweets and pizzas anymore, Id have one every once in a while but all in all my new life style is satisfying for me.

My breakfast every morning:
5 Egg Whites
1 Whole Egg
1oz Fat free cheese
(usually make scrambled, or omlette. I will throw green chilies in there or jalepeno peppers)
2.5 oz ground turkey made like breakfast sausage (with cayenne, sage, fennel, and salt) - if I am too lazy to make the breakfast patties I will scramble eggs up with turkey
1.5oz frosted flakes with splash of Silk milk
Metabolic....seriously, I eat ALL that shit on my cheat day....I am actually leaner now than I ever walked around at non-contest. So many people ask "why sacrifice it during the week, why not just eat a little every day"....because I like to play chemistry set with my body in regards to the calorie cycling....and what insulin and leptin responses are with change in food quantity/type

Shit,that`s a damn good meal for bodybuilding purposes and not dry or bland in any way shape or form.
The only time eating super strict is a true necessity is before a contest....then a strict regimen should be followed to look your best onstage.
Eating a nice steak,with rice,cottage cheese, and some green beans is far from a sacrifice.

I respectfully disagree....I switched to doing that starting the very day I swore off competing October 2008. My clean days are 1900cals, my cheat days are the same, up till last meal. My cheat meal is usually about 1200cals. My cheat days have swelled from 6000cals to now about 8500cals. I am STARVING monday morning when I wake up.
I do cardio 4x per week...in the morning...just because i like to watch some TV and catch up on taped shows. I train 4 - 5x per week. Nothing special....

u know wes i stay low key here,,,but in all honesty whether ur using or clean why get on stage at anything less than 100pct the best u could be,,i mean every detail covered,,,i've seen drug guys on stage thick but smooth,,,just diet hard and let chips fall where they may,,if ur shredded and get beat buy a guy with better shape but less conditioning than u well thats how it goes,genetics for shape beat u ,,or u might be shredded and beat a guy bigger but less stellar conditiong well then ur efforts paid off...

At times,I`ve looked better competing than at other times,but regardless,I always did the best I could to look as good as I possibly could.
After all,you are really competing against your last best conditioning/showing....you have no control over other competitors and how they will look anyway.

I dont consider using large amounts of two stimulant with synergic effects natural at all, then again, I dont give a shit about the distinction either but it is important to mention as the hunger supression and beta receptors agonism makes a world of difference when losing fat. I too can get away with eating whatever (just had an Angus Bacon for shits and giggles) if on the EC, I, and most people, cant when doing it completely natural because satiation/protein/calories is hard to balance and takes a fucking long time. Not to even mention that your body doesnt hormonally like to be rippedlean.

what are ur lifts? do you find volume is more effective or strength based like pure natural hero does is more effective?
My best lifts are:
Bench: 135 kg (Im sure Im good for more now as Im training with as heavy as 120 kg)
Squats: 180 kg x 3
Deadlift: 190 kg x 3
I feel both strength and volume is important in order to gain mass. I always focus on lifting as much weight as possible with good form, and preferably in the rep range 4-8. The rep range depends on what Im training, but I dont like high repetition too much, and usually never go over 10 reps. On the basic exercises I like to stay around 3-6 reps max. I also focus on using as much volume as my body can handle, and as much as is needed. I started early on experimenting in the gym and know exactly how my body reacts to certain exercises, sets and reps so I am very confident whenever Im traning. And third, I try to keep up the intensity as much as possible, and never rest more than I need. But I make sure that I have rested enough so that I am cappable of lifting the same weight or more in the same rep range.

I am sure some will say he is on a titanic sized load of shit. Its not hard to stay within 3weeks of a photo shoot. A photo shoot is NOT contest ready. He stays lean, so think about it....2 1 /2 weeks of cleaner eating and maybe more cardio, then do some fucking carb manipulation last few days. Sure, he could be on clen and other shit like that....

recently i got down to sub-8 but it was a "wet" sub-8, and i'm pretty sure that if i had used ECA i would have been a "semi-dry" sub-7 instead

Old pic, but its the best shape I got in during my "career". Could of been harder, but it is what it is. I was on a diet for like 7 months and was pretty fed up at the end. Can it be done? Of course it can, but you have to sacrifice A LOT in order to get there. Basicly dont have a life.

In the off season i lift as heavy as i can doing training programs like pyramids, 5*5 concentrating on basic exercises. I train for 2 to 2 and a half hours per workout three to four times peer week.
Diet is a lot of meat, tuna, eggs, and i eat as much sweets as i want. And i eat three times per day.
In the definition mode the exercises are still basics and i like pyramids so the first exercise of the each muscle group is pyramided, to perserve strenght and hardness. Other exercises are done in a faster pace with medium to light weight and for a pump.
I then train 4 to 5 times peer week depending on how i feel, duration is about the same as in off season.
Diet is as in mass mode but of course no sweets and quite spartan and i eat 4 times per day, as some of you said you then have no life. :)
