Hardcore, the private room thing sounds a little weird
"A man known only as Chuang has reportedly died after playing Diablo III for 40 hours without taking a single break. According to reports, he booked himself into a private room in an internet cafe at lunchtime on Friday and settled himself in for nearly two days of non-stop gaming with no food or sleep.
Chuang was left alone in that time, with an employee of the cafe only coming in on the Sunday morning to check on him, where she found him resting on the table. Chuang then woke up, took a few steps and collapsed. He was taken to hospital, but died shortly after his arrival.
Blizzard released a statement following Chuang's death:
"We're saddened to hear this news, and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. We don't feel it would be appropriate for us to comment further without knowing all of the circumstances involved.
"While we recognise that it's ultimately up to each individual or their parent or guardian to determine playing habits, we feel that moderation is clearly important, and that a person's day-to-day life should take precedence over any form of entertainment."
The cause of death has yet to be determined, but authorities suspect that, after spending such a long time seated, Chuang suffered cardiovascular problems or a fatal blood clot.
Earlier this year, another Taiwanese person was found dead in an internet cafe after reportedly playing League of Legends for 23 hours straight."

Mega lol.
Dude was committed, thats for sure.

I wonder who the first Getbigger will be to die from meltdown or heart attack from a WYHI thread?
-
Diablo 3 sucks dick. Diablo 2 = much better. I can easily hit twenty hours straight on it and then I'll find myself having no life at all trying to get my amazon to level 99.
Diablo 2 was awesome. I waited 3 weeks after Diablo 3 came out (after the initial hoopla died down), and then asked my friend if it was worth it. The answer was no (The whole 1st week it was out he was telling me how awesome it was and how I needed to get it). Lol.

Yeah, it's bad, there are a couple of gameplay aspects that don't make it worth getting obsessed with (like D2). Most of the bad rap had to do with forcing people to be online all the time even for single player, so on the opening day when everyone logged in to play the servers crashed- ROFLCOPTER keeps on LOLING.
-
El Diablo Blanco...,care to speak on this? Or are you on the lam as we speak?

I also heard that they devalued the shit out of the gold currency, forcing many people to start paying for items with real cash, of which Blizzard takes a dollar from all purchases. Lol.

This guy died playing the game. Your lack of commitment to gaming offends and disgusts me.
-
Yeah, it's the worst thing they could have done. Diablo is basically a game you'll play forever so you can find elite gear. In D3, they basically eliminated your chances of finding any, so you could buy it at their auction house. This model is called "pay-to-win" and was apparently imposed to Blizzard from above.
They can suck my dick.
Having played neither 2 or 3, should I just play 2 or play something like Titan Quest instead?

Had to find a way to replace all the revenue lost when the WoW nerds cancelled their subscriptions and moved to D3. >:(

Far better games out there to die for. Like Resident Evil 6 in Oct. :-*

Agree all the way. True RE fan.

It depends, do you have an addictive personality? If you do, Titan Quest. If not, give D2 a shot.

Really BA? REALLY!? BO 2?

Black Ops story was acceptabel. Black Ops 2 looks like uber-fail everywhere. MW3 was all kinds of terrible.
Bf3 is where its at, and MoH Warfighter is going to rock.

Big Ach sounds like a console guy, needs to fuck off immediately.
You need to fuck off immediately and suck my cock and my Core i7 PC with NVIDA graphics mother fucker!

I'm getting a lot of enjoyment out of my gtx 670 while playing BF3. A LOT of enjoyment. It's almost sexual.

I run a 570 w/2gb ram and it runs flawlessly. Think the 670 may be a bit overkill, lol.

Well you know, I just recently bought a new system/tower and I thought I might as well be ready for the next generation of graphics so I went all out.
I'm averaging 85-110fps on all Ultra settings(depending on the amount of players), 1080p res, 2x AA on a 120Hz screen. It's fucking great haha. The 120 Hz REALLY does make a huge difference.
-
haha shut up derp your computer sucks. go play your ps3
I play both on PC and Xbox...
Xbox more so for co-op games with my friends!
Anyways, I'm shocked you were able to decipher just by those two vague specs that my PC sucks.... you must be playing on an awesome supercomputer! We should all be as awesome as you!
:-)

BF3 really is a cut above everything else right now, at least graphics wise. I run 1080p on a 32" LG LCD with the settings maxed, and it still blows me away how great it looks.
The attention to detail, (especially the sounds, the weapons, the vehicles, the explosions, all just sound so right), make it quite possibly my favorite MP game of all time. The campaign wasn't great, but the MP is outstanding.
Its very immersive.

Shockwave, you can probably tell by now that I'm a COD fan over the battlefield series. I have not played bf3 because my only experience with bf was that futuristic one, battlefield 2142 I think it was called, I have that and thought it absolutely sucked! Should I give the franchise a second chance or are they all like that futuristic one?

Dude BF3, hands down, is the best fucking MP game I've ever played. Play it on a above average gaming computer and it's an experience that blows MW2-3 right out of the water.

BF2142 is regarded as one of the worst BF's ever.
BF3 is up there. Purists will argue that BF1 or 2 was better, but for me, the combination of graphics, sound, and gameplay is unmatched. It is hands down the most immersive FPS i've ever played.
The explosions sounds and look real. Bullets pinging of things, rounds snapping as they go by your head, choppers wheeling overhead, and it looks REAL.
The gameplay itself is solid, by far better than CoD IMHO.
This is coming from someone who was a far bigger fan of CoD than BF. Started playing CoD 2. After MW1, things went progressively downhill. I cant even play CoD anymore, feel's too arcadey.
-

Just to soothe your curiosity, here is my set up, its a bit unorthodox, but it gets the job done - no problems running Crysis 2:
Sony Vaio gaming Laptop (17" but I don't use that screen) - connected to a 32" 1080p LG LCD screen, 120Hz refresh rate, wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and a wired microsoft game controller!
6 GB Ram
Intel Quad Core, Core i7 Processor, (1.73Ghz - nothing spectacular there)
NVIDA GeForce GT 425M
600 GB Hard Drive
Blu Ray Player (not that it will matter for gaming)
Feel better now?

My point wasn't to list off specs, its to prove that I actually have a PC thats somewhat capable of playing games ass wipe!

BF3 on this would probably suck.
It really gets special on Ultra - and Im not sure that chipset would handle BF3 on Ultra.
Nothing like combat on a huge 64 player map though. BF3 can be as fast paced or as slow paced as you feel like, there are so many game modes and map sizes that its ridiculous.
But its really a PC game. Everyone I know that plays it on console vs a PC says the same thing - PC all day long.

I have both and I'm not even gonna deny that... I have older games that look better on my LAPTOP than newer games do on my Xbox!
As I said though I got my Xbox more for the multiplayer element since many of my friends are on that console as well!
I'm guessing Ultra is the highest setting for BF3....
Playing Crysis 2 (Another graphics-intensive EA game :-D) on my PC, I'm able to run it very well without any problems on about medium settings.
But when I max out all the graphics, I start to see a lot of lag and just gets really annoying!
-

That's hardly the point... my point is you've got a console approach to games. Shitty graphics, linear gameplay. No wonder you've mentioned Crysis 2, you probably haven't played the original (which was PC-exclusive) and don't know that the sequel was a massive disappointment because they dumbed it down for console derps like you.
With your monolithic laptop you won't be able to enjoy 50% of what a modern gaming experience is supposed to be.
The LG 32" has a resolution of 1366 x 768, that's from 2002 FFS! That monitor is not for playing games, it's for watching tv you noob!

BF3 gets really video intensive on Ultra (highest setting), especially during MP. The maps are so huge, there is so much to render, not to mention much of the map is destructible.

Alright homeboy... there is no denying your PC specs are awesome....
Yes I never played the first crysis, and I am fully aware it was one of the most demanding games ever for PC only....
But I think saying Crysis 2 graphics are dumbed down on PC... thats absolute bullshit! Total understatement! Max out the graphics on that and you will see that it looks fucking awesome! Just because it was ported over to console doesn't mean they dumbed down the PC graphics, at least not to the extent you are talking about!
And what the fuck are you talking about 768 resolution for my screen??? my ass! 1920X1080 Here is your proof! You gonna try to tell me about my own specs dude?? wtf???

Haha, you're so funny pal, the more you write the more you bury yourself.
When Crysis 2 was first released it was derided as console port by just about everybody and graphics were only half of the problem (it didn't support DX11 at the time). The other half was the gameplay aspect, they pretty much removed 90% of the sandbox experience of the first one (which you know nohting about apparently) and dumbed down the AI quite radically just so the game could be handled by the piss poor console specs.
And in any case, why are you talking about maxed graphics? With DX11 on (and all its marvelous features like tesselation) your stone-age laptop could only play it at low settings with *maybe* 30fps.
I think you bit more than you can chew here, pal :-\

Its not the best one by far, but I was on a budget. It has all the same specs (or better) as the comparable Samsung 27" gaming monitor, and I got a steal on it as my wife was working at best buy at the time.

Fair enough, although I have trouble believing a TV can measure up to a monitor. However, it may be possible, I just haven't looked into it.

OK you clearly do know more about this than I do, I will not deny that and i will not deny the fact that gaming on a laptop is nothing like gaming on a desktop (console is a whole different issue)... but where the fuck do you come out with numbers like "you lose 50% of the gaming experience "
And dude I never got into the actual gameplay, you are going off on a tangent here.
Is my setup ideal like yours, no, I never said it was. But it works. I'm not gonna stop gaming because I can only run a game on medium settings and not high.
Again what is your point? Lol

It can. Same color depth and contrast as the monitor, same refresh rate, same resolution.
I used to think like you, but TV's have made huge strides in recent times. I didn't believe it either until I really started checking it out. Anymore they're almost the same things, the gaming TV's and the gaming monitors. Same technology now.

Impossible to topple... would have been an enigma if they came near it.
Haven't checked out part 3 to avoid unnecessary dissatisfaction.

I have the same, an ld450 32", does perfect 4:4:4 chroma and its ips, youd be paying out the ass if they rebranded it as a pc monitor.

I have the same, an ld450 32", does perfect 4:4:4 chroma and its ips, youd be paying out the ass if they rebranded it as a pc monitor.
Going to flex my e-penis with my case + i7 4.5ghz, 16gb ram and 570gtx, all fed through a projector outputting to 120" 1080p ;D

360 and ps3 really showing their age now, its tough to play the games on them when you have seen the pc version at much higher res/fps/high graphical quality/AA/AF

I just never saw the need to be honest. Computers were always used for the internet for me. Console gamer all the way. Not saying one is better than the other.

Not a gamer, don't understand the fascination. Not anti-game, but don't get how anyone could devout that much time gaming. Advanced gamers could have multiple doctorates with the time invested in gaming.

Hey Raymondo,
I just got back from the gym, my work our partner used to be a computer engineer at AMD, i told him about this discussion and his response was "Ach, I'm glad you surrendered when you did because you were on a sinking ship buddy! There was no way you were going to win this one!". I was like "yeah I know"
On another note, I'm very impressed by the setups that many of you getbiggers have. A lot of people on this board are all talk but some of you guys' knowledge on this subject really started to shine in this thread! Good stuff!
On another note, anybody here play Deus Ex: Human Revolution? That is probably my favorite game of all time (minus the boss fights)
-
^That's cause we're getbiggers---not just bbers, but we are experts on everything (like ringneck snakes not being venomous, lol)
**BTW, I don't know jackshit about what you guys were talking about, I just chilled and lurked, and gleaned some knowledge.

He got laid off a few months back :-(
What did you think of the first level of DE:HR? How far did you get?

I used to do PC gaming, back when Counter-Strike was the king of online gaming...was even in a team :-[

Played past where the base gets attacked and you get shot, then on to the level where the factory is being overrun by the enviromental nuts.Seemed good, if a little easy to just go in guns blazing.

OK you re still very early in the game.
Going in guns blazing is fun as hell though its not always the best option as the enemies increase in number and get tougher... still though I usually chose a firefight over sneaking around, would just try to find a good hiding spot and start taking out bitches one by one sorta a quasi-stealth approach I guess. You will love it, except for the boss fights those are frustrating as hell!

Wow! Can't believe this is how OMRB/SMM decided to go out. Play on playa.

My nephews play many computer games.
One of them is really good at starcraft I & II. He tried to get me into starcraft I and while it looked very interesting and fun, I was not fast enough to keep up with his army-building skills.
If I had more time to sit down and play, I probably could get better, but sometimes I think youngsters just have better skills when it comes to these types of games.
I can still outplay all of my friends (young and old) at card games though.

One of my favorite sp games of all time. What did you think of the ending or ending(s)?
-
Reminds me of a family member telling me their computer couldnt be this slow as it had "an intel inside".When I finally looked at it it had unlimited spyware, 1ghz single core celeron cpu,128mb of ram and was stored in a hot cupboard during summer.

Great success.
I still have an 800mhz Pentium one sitting around somewhere, back from my Counter Strike Beta days.

SPOILER ALERT (Deus Ex: Human Revolution)
I thought the ending was great all up until you had to press one of those three buttons. The entire last level (Panchea) was awesome, albeit really fucking eerie especially when everyone turned all zombie like! The last boss fight was probably the best one, but I had the laser rifle so that made it very easy!
I didn't like the events after you pressed one of the buttons to choose your ending, although the speeches were really cool, I thought it was kinda anti climatic, to just watch videos of humanity's history and nature was kinda meh (but the easter egg reference after the credits was pretty cool!)
I absolutely loved the entire story, it was pretty realistic if you think about it!
How much were you cursing during the Alice Garden Pods raid? :-D and did you get to save Malik? lol

That type of gaming isn't a hobby....that's an obsession. If you have that much time available to invest in a hobby then you need more responsibility in your life for balance.

Yes you will always have better graphics on a PC (Assuming its a good PC obviously). Xbox's hardware is pretty old!

Last year
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-14350216
A man whose son died after playing video games for long periods is campaigning for greater awareness of the risk posed by their excessive use.
Chris Staniforth, 20, who would play his console for up to 12 hours, died in May from deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
His father David believes the condition may have been triggered by long gaming sessions.
DVT can form during long periods of immobility and can kill if the clots travel to the lungs.
Computer records showed his son would sometimes play online on his Xbox for periods up to 12 hours.
The coroner said a clot formed in Chris' left calf before moving to his lungs.
Once there, it caused a fatal blockage, known as a pulmonary embolism.
Mr Staniforth said: "After my research I saw there was no difference to Chris sitting at a desk on his Xbox and someone on a long-haul flight.
"Sitting still is literally the danger zone. Chris loved to play and would stay up all night.
"Millions of people worldwide are playing these games for hours, and there is a risk."
While Mr Staniforth has no problem with games consoles, he wants to highlight the heightened risk of DVT associated with being immobile, and is in the process of setting up a website.
In a statement, Microsoft, who manufacture the Xbox console, said: 'We have always encouraged responsible game play through our education campaigns such as Play Smart, Play Safe.
"We recommend that gamers take periodic breaks to exercise as well as make time for other pursuits."

Videogames are simulations of reality. If your real life sucks, trade it in for a virtual one. Of course, games are nowhere near the level of reality yet, but maybe you underestimate terrible some peoples' lives are?
Anyway, just chiming in to say D3 was thoroughly average. I bought Max Payne 3 the same week, uninstalled Diablo and have barely thought about it since... MP3 was INCREDIBLE, a real breakthrough 3rd person shooters imo.

D3 is actually World of Diablocraft :)
I hope MP3 is fun, I have fond memories of the first two ones.

Yep, Deus Ex was stellar. Best game I played last year. A worthy sequel. Eventually, patches fixed the boss fights.

Is it better than Starcraft I?
If it is, where can I buy this for my nephew (Amazon, Toys R us)?

They're different games. One is strategy, the other is sort of action/adventure rpg.
How old is your nephew? Deus ex has a great storyline, albeit a very violent one; Starcraft is basically creating a small army and using it to blow the enemy up. All in good fun :)
Amazon should have both of them.

El Diablo Blanco...,care to speak on this? Or are you on the lam as we speak?
You play with me and you will get burned.

On a 30" computer monitor, you can get 2560x1600... that's almost twice the pixels of a 1920x1200 of a 32" TV.
One is twice as expensive as the other, but I suppose there's a reason for that.
Myself, I currently have a Dell 2407WFP, which I've had for more than six years. It cost £500 when I bought it and I've been very satisfied with it. Everybody derides Dell because they make their products from cheap components... can't say it was my experience when it came to monitors, so I'll got the Dell 30" as soon as I can.

"I'm gunna have to open up a can of whoop-ass on this town"
"YEEEEHAAAWWWW!"
"City folk..."
" I'm gonna barbeque yo' ass in molasses! "

How much were you cursing during the Alice Garden Pods raid? :-D and did you get to save Malik? lol
I was cursing a lot. When I was playing the Alice Gardens level I was still trying to get Ghost exp on every main mission. It took me over an hour and several reloads to clear out all the SWAT guys by sneaking around and using takedowns and silencers only. I hoarded ammo and guns so by Maliks mission I had almost maxed out the ammo upgrades on heavy machine gun. I had to reload because on the 1st try I took to long to clear out the bad guys and Malik diead ;D On second time I didnt even bother watching my hp, cloaked and starting mowing down enemy guys with everything I had.
Overall a really great game. The several endings were a mixed bag though, can't say I love that part of the game.

LOL in the Alice Garden Pods... You know how you have an option to give that hacker a gun or not so he can defend himself... well I Decided to give him one then later I needed it so I knocked him out and took it back ahahha... then I set up a ton of cover using boxes and vending machines and went all Rambo on them bitches! Killed every single guy then walked around taking my time and collected their Ammo and guns like nothing just happened! Was Great!
Saving Malik was tough though... took me a few tries, but I ended up using typhoon a lot and ran around like a mad man trying to kill everybody in a short amount of time!
Wasn't nearly as cool looking as this guy!!:
