Looking fucking huge. Lots of fat, but plenty of muscle if you don't over do it.
-
Grilled chicken with ketchup?
Odd.
-
Are you trying to get lean again? Come on man...get some will power.
-
its amazing you dont hold more fat in your face and head
-
your diet sucks
;D
A Ccccccccccchmed (in my best achmend dead terroist voice)
-
Carbs too high.
-
Are you trying to get lean again? Come on man...get some will power.
I've been trying to get lean.... this is what I've been eating for a few weeks now. And doing HIT Cardio 4-5 times a week for 20 minutes.
But every couple of weeks I'll fall off the wagon and eat like shit... (This weekend was a good example) then feel like I'm starting over again!

The cycle with a cheat day. Simple as...well...pie. LLLMLLH <--- thats my routine.
-

Yes its really strange. My face and neck always tend to stay pretty lean/thin regardless of what I weigh these days!

I would drop meal 3 and substitute dinning on pussy instead
-

Yeah I sorta thought about that... like doing keto, no carbs for a week, then 1 day eat whatever I want (High carbs), then no carbs again for the rest of the week! But I dunno, everything I read these days keep preaching that no-carbs is not necessarily a good idea!
-
For someone your size, daily cal intake is too low. Why don't you start out at something like 3000 cal a day on regular workout days and 2500 cal on off days and see how you feel?
-
Could you post a breakdown of your calories per item. Just glancing at the amount of food, i'm having trouble believing it's only 2500 calories.

I don't go zero....I go about 75 - 100/day. Thats all. If you have seen my log, you know I don't pussy around with the training. I have some information on carb backloading if you are interested.
-
you look short

Yup - here is a link to the breakdown of the calories per item: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k50msmu034eu81u/2013%20BIG%20ACH%20cut%20diet.pdf

How do you figure that? I'm 6 feet chief :D

Way too much food.

What bread are you using on your sammies? Are you getting cheese? Your single chicken breast for meal 5 is very low. A normal 3 oz chicken breast has 280 calories.

Whole wheat bread - no cheese. Just lettuce, tomatoes, and 1 pack of ketchup.
Where on earth are you buying 3 oz chicken breast with 280 calories??? There's no way lol

Sorry, got my numbers mixed up. Normal chicken breast 6 oz = 280 calories. So you're eating less than half a chicken breast for dinner?

Hahah the expression on her face, priceless.

An uncooked 6 oz chicken breast, boneless, skinless grilled is 150 calories bro!
-
looking good ach
-
I seriously dig these numbers. I would drop 20 grams of fat and add 45-50 grams of protein, but using something fairly close I've gotten in excellent shape. Full approval rating.
Macros come out to about: I like:
203 g Protein protein 250
318 g Carbs carbs 300
51 g Fat fat 30

diet is crap especially if you are trying to get lean. you have some good size but looks to be a lot of fat/water.
-
You can always change this diet to a more aggressive version..
-
Your diet looks 'creative', but your fat types suck with those 4 whole eggs & grilled chicken. The same applies for your carb sources, like ice cream & gatorate. You also overdo the supps. The ones in meal #1 are OK, but 10 grams of creatine during a cutting phase?!
Sorry, but your 'diets' looks look the one of a kid.
-
1. Have you based the total calories on your BMR?
2. I would drop your carbs even lower to 200g tops. Substitute the footlong for a 6" sub, and order a huge bowl of their salad each time (that will knock off 50G of carbs for your 2 meals there).
-
An uncooked 6 oz chicken breast, boneless, skinless grilled is 150 calories bro!
Just go to taco bell man you got fat at your current condition, will you compete anymore bulking up is for kids all you do is have to lose again whats the point?
-
Those number will only get you so far, they are not good ratios for dieting to get into lower double digits bodyfat, you will plateau soon.
I would adjust them to 250 grams of protein and drop the carbs to 250 and then of course further into the diet adjust them again, 300 grams of protein and 200 grams of carbs.
-

you can get ripped on taco hell, just as long as you keep total cal intake below maintenance levels
-

True.
-

The general rule is a gram of chicken breast is 1 calorie, that has always worked. So 6 oz = 6x28 = 168, so ya 168 calories.
-
As long as many of his food sources suck, there's no need to discuss the macros in detail
-

Come on bro, you'd be as hungry as shit though. Big Ach doesn't strike me as the type of guy who could spend hours being hungry, but stay disciplined until his next tiny taco bell 600 kcal meal.
-

i'd be hungry as shit if the cals where coming mainly from sugar (colas, candy, etc) but not from fat (fries, cheesburgers, etc) fat keeps me fuller

Totally agree bro, i'm the same but it's because I am getting pretty lean now (on fairly low kcals) and you are already shredded. Someone like Ach @ 240 pounds / 18-20% bf is not going to 'feel full'

Fries & burgers are also loaded with simple carbs, and way too much sodium as a 'bonus'.

Guys, have we not learned anything over the years? Take it from another Southern Gentleman, a calorie is a calorie.

I don't want to open up a pointless discussion but I have yet to see concrete evidence that a calorie from a gram of protein can in fact convert to fat and ya I will get a 1000 people on here who will say ''Of course again"' but I have talked to a few experts including a few PHD guys who insist that it can not,
I also believe it can not and I had a discussion with Scott Connelly (name?) founder of MET_RX who said that some of his research team were concluding it can not and few biologist who also believe it can not, so not so far fetched if you ask me and if this is true then 'a calorie is a calorie'' is not true.

To prove this hypothesis we should find a trusted protein brand, with 0% carbs and 0% fat and make dj181 drink 20 shakes a day. If he stays around 100 pounds, then we know all the excess protein was excreeted out.

I already tried this and your body simply reject this, at first severe constipation and then diarrhea from over using your digestive enzymes and then massive gas cramps, your body simply can not go through with it.
I tried this for 7 days and ate 3-4000 calories of protein only foods and I dropped more fat that week then any other week I have ever dieted in, but people will claim that half of my calories were not absorbed because of severe diarrhea, either way I still believe that no matter how much protein you eat you can get fat off of it.
Also keep this up and your kidneys will go so really a mute point.

Never said that you would be healthy off of such a diet. ;) But, there have been cases where people have lowered cholesterol Etc... while eating nothing but fast food. A calorie deficit is a calorie defict. Health benefits are arguable.

Hey guys - loving all the discussion on here.
I pretty much used this site to calculate how much I should be eating: http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/
As you guys see, my main focus is calorie control.
The Gatorade is primarily in there just as a post work out meal to restore glycogen levels. I don't take it on my days off from the gym.
Yeah, the low fat ice cream cones.... I could probably do without those... but its just something that helps keep me sane! Like a small treat in the middle of the day and at the end of the day after eating my chicken and broccoli! ;D

You're too much focussed on calorie intake, choose good macro sources first. Add things like fish, brown rice, oat meal and olive oil to your diet.
-
Currently I have undertaken a diet where I aim to get carbs from green vegetables. And I don't overeat protein anymore since it makes me feel slow, and I'm sure you can get fat from proteins. Feels great so far.
-

on the subways sandwiches...why not get the 6" but with double meat? This way you cut the carbs in 1/2 and increase the protein a little.
-
Sorry, but I don't think so, see reply #30
Your diet looks 'creative', but your fat types suck with those 4 whole eggs & grilled chicken.
Where do you figure that fat from whole eggs is not good? Egg yolk contain a good amount of omega 3 fatty acids.
The same applies for your carb sources, like ice cream & gatorate.
I'm with you on the ice cream (but in retrospect, those only make up 60 g of the 300 g included in the diet). The bulk of my carbs come from the whole wheat bread from my subs.
Can't agree with you on the Gatorade though, since its there post work out.
You also overdo the supps. The ones in meal #1 are OK, but 10 grams of creatine during a cutting phase?!
Sorry, but your 'diets' looks look the one of a kid.
Why do you figure 10 g of creatine is bad during a cutting phase? Creatine can be taken during cutting without any problems. Hell I've even been as high as 20 g of creatine 4 weeks out from a show and didn't see any sort of ill-effects.
-
on the subways sandwiches...why not get the 6" but with double meat? This way you cut the carbs in 1/2 and increase the protein a little.
Thats an interesting observation... Never thought about that. I feel like I'd be pretty damn hungry though a little bit after! But its something I can consider.
-
.
Love that broad's revulsion.
-
Do you really need two ice cream cones a day? Total waste of calories. Pure garbage. You think, it's only 300 calories total, but after 10 days that 3000 calories, after 100 days its 30000 calories, in a year it's over 100000 calories. It adds up to a lot of wasted calories fast.
-

OTH, my views tend to line up very closely with yours on this subject. But, don't you think 300g protein is way too much for a fat natural like ACH (no offense buddy!) ? His body isn't nearly as efficient with glycogen turnover and protein synthesis as guys juicing.
-

Agree hence my orginal question about what he's basing his BMR on....if it's true lean mass, then he shouldn't need more than 200g protein daily (around 1g per pound LBW) and 200g carbs.
-

Do I really need them.... well no lol...... Is my lack of willpower sickening to the point that I feel I need them.... yes ;D
I would like to, at one point, cut them down to just 1 a day.... and then eventually none..... But My cravings just start to kick in and I go a bit crazy.... I've said this many time, my main problem is discipline. Hell even during contest preps I've had my moments of total breakdowns and binge eating in the dark hoping not to be caught by my wife ;D

No offense taken. I've been as high as 400 g of protein per day, 300 g actually sits very well with me, especially when I'm dieting. In the past, contest preps for me have always always been: High Protein (300-400 g), moderate fats, low to no carbs.
But I guess you can say I'm trying something new. If we are to believe the research is correct.... a calorie is a calorie.... then controlling caloric intake is my first priority.... my second priority is staying within my listed macros which are distributed as, high carbs, moderate protein, low fat.
A big question I have is.... Is 2500 calories where I should be right now????? Is it too much??? Is it too little???? I've never been able to properly assess where I should start with a diet when it came to caloric consumption.
And to be clear.... my goals are not to be super lean or anything like that.....
I'm 19-20% bf right now at 234 lbs.... I would like to be 12-15% and sitting at around 220 lbs!!! Nothing unreasonable here!!! But I am hoping to maintain as much muscle as I can (or even gain some) while shedding this fat.
Also, would it be a good idea to add in a fat-burner right now? Or is it too early?

This is what I'm saying. Even with juicers I don't think the protein needs to get too crazy...you body just uses food so much more efficiently. The more I learn, the less and less protein I feel I need. 200g is still a TON of fkn protein for almost any bodybuilder muscle champion.

2500 calories, fill it with whatever you want, day in and day out= Lean Big Ach.
Couldn`t be any easier my friend!
You don`t need any Fat Burner, Protein Powders (unless convenient for you or you like them) or anything.

Honestly, when I'm on 2500 calories, I'm not starving at all.... but I do start to get a bit hungry before my next meal... and I'm definitely craving shit food (But that could just be my lack of discipline there lol)
-
The If it fits in your Macros is pointless waste of time in my opinion and TOTALLY unnecessary.
Just keep track of total calories, nothing else. By default your Macros will be totally fine. No need to be shit brain about it at all and that is what happens with IIFIYM. Its completely pointless.

Good advice Adam, i'll mail him some maldon sea salt so he can celebrate with some home made toffee and vanilla ice cream with salt flakes to finish :D

Around 2800 is about right for you to continue to lose fat, see if you drop too low the body goes into a fasting state and tries to hold to fat for survival.

How in the hell is your body going to go into a 'fasting state' on 2500kcals ffs?
Forgive me if the sarcasm is lost on me, I need some reeces peanut butter cups and chocolate ice cream (cups warmed in the microwave obviously)
-
Do you think 2500 is a good start? Do you think its too much? too little????
Honestly, when I'm on 2500 calories, I'm not starving at all.... but I do start to get a bit hungry before my next meal... and I'm definitely craving shit food (But that could just be my lack of discipline there lol)
Perfectly fine. You will come down easily to the 180s and below into near contest shape if given enough time at 2500. You won`t even have to change the calorie level.
Even better, if you DON`T do that Stupid IIFIYM diet, and just keep track of total calories instead, your Macros will have enough variance day in day out, weekly, monthly that you won`t ever have to change anything.
The IIFIYM locks you in a pointless state of homeostasis as the Macro Range is severely limited and the little variance could, and I emphasize could, cause you to have to lower calories rather than keep them high.
By a continued variance-ie- just keep track of overall calories- You will ensure that homeostasis for fat loss will be avoided and you will not have to lower calories.
IIFIYM has a lot of problems and it really is a pointless exercise in my opinion unless you are experimenting with Asperger`s Syndrome and want to know how they live.

Just go rake some leaves every now and then in addition to your weight training. You aren`t laying in bed all day I hope? ???

Because Ache weighs like 230 or something if he weighed 150 no problem.

My post was directed at Mr Nobody who stated 'anything under 2800kcals is going to make your body think it's starving and store fat'....
FWIW I cycle over 100 miles weekly (on a road bike) weight train 3-4 times per week and regularly have sex with my wife and beat my children (jk) , so i'm far from sedintary ;D

When I say Aspergers Syndrome is synonymous with IIFIYM-If it Fits in Your Macros Diet- Here is what I mean:
IF you are doing this, than something is wrong with you. Not only is it pointless and unnecessary, it is wasteful and is clearly bordering on mental illness in my opinion. If this kid posted here, I would DEFINITELY put him on the Comprehensive Getbig Moron list.
-

Yes......BUT Ach's 230 pound frame is not going to metabolise all his calories - ONLY his lean body weight needs calories to function, i.e. the bodyweight minus all fat.
-
That video is pure LOLZZZZZ.
Throwing out perfectly good food because "I don`t know the MACRO Nutrients" ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
That video is pathetically hilarious every time I watch it. I can`t stop. hahhahahah

Definitive; now Comprehensive. I can't keep up. ;D

i got ripped this time around without doing any hard cardio
and i'm rather shocked that i did, coz i really believed that hard cardio was required, but it ain't

What kind of world do we live in where people throw away food because "they don`t know the MACROS"?
??? ??? ??? ???
What a deluded human being. This is just as bad as Bulimia/Anorexia.
-
From here on out IIFIYM Diet will now be referred to as MACROPHOBIA or Fear of not knowing Macro-Nutrients.

This part of 'bodybuilding' is definitely somewhere on the mental illness scale, WTF?

BigCyp, looks like I better go get a dumpster and start Clearing out my Cabinets and Refrigerator, because the MACROS might not match up to the MACRO calculator. God forbid that happens. ::)

YES!!! The War on Macros must be fought with decisive precision. Might I suggest an Industrial Wood Chipper for complete Victory over the Carbohydrate Front. I can assure you anything tossed in, won`t make it out.

Where do you figure that fat from whole eggs is not good? Egg yolk contain a good amount of omega 3 fatty acids.
It contains O3's, but not that much, see the list below. When you selects foods, you also need to study their negative parts, such as the cholesterol content. Testosterone is derived from cholesterol, that's the good part, but don't overdo it.
Grams of omega−3 per 3oz (85g) serving
Common name grams omega−3
Herring, sardines 1.32
Mackerel: Spanish/Atlantic/Pacific 1.11.7

Flounder 0.48
Grouper 0.23
Mahi mahi 0.13

I'm with you on the ice cream (but in retrospect, those only make up 60 g of the 300 g included in the diet). The bulk of my carbs come from the whole wheat bread from my subs.
But you consume those ice creams every day, like it's 'normal' food. C'mon, you're not a child anymore with a superfast metabolism.
Can't agree with you on the Gatorade though, since its there post work out.
C'mon, calling it 'post wo' is a weak excuse. Add a small dash of fruit juice to your water, inner- & post wo, and you will be fine.
Why do you figure 10 g of creatine is bad during a cutting phase? Creatine can be taken during cutting without any problems. Hell I've even been as high as 20 g of creatine 4 weeks out from a show and didn't see any sort of ill-effects.
Because you're holding water as a result of it, esp in those large quantities. Creatine is for strength, good during your off season, but in a cutting phase it's rather a matter of maintaining your mass, while getting shredded.
-
Carbs too high.
This.
Try carb cyclling. I like about 4 days low carbs (100-150 g per day) and then a higher refuel day (300-400).
-

where'd you come up with that figure?
bodyweightx12
actually that is a good starting point

Agreed.... I don't think 4 eggs is overdoing it!

No argument there

Weak argument. Fructose post work out is total shit. Gatorade has Dextrose and Sucrose. Thats very important for glycogen replenishment, thats bodybuilding 101

Creatine holds water intracellularly - within the muscle... I've never cut out creatine during contest prep and always been dry!!!
As Layne Norton stated:
Here is another anabolic property that creatine holds and this is its ability to hydrate muscle cells. When muscle cells are hydrated a few things happen. The most notable being an increase in protein synthesis. The second being an increase of ions into the cell. Since the cell is holding more water, it can also hold more ions since the ions will follow water into the cell in order to keep the concentration the same. When more ions are present in muscle cells (the most important being nitrogen) muscle protein synthesis also increases.

Well I don't your body weight but just seeing the pics I made a guess, I been training people and diet information for years. So I say around 2800 is you maintenance level. Take up or down pending your goals.
-
OK Big Ach, we may disagree on a few things, but I hope you reach your goals in life, whatever they are.
Do you have any competition plans in the future?

No contest plans right now.... Maybe in the future. Too much going on at the moment! But I haven't closed that door yet!
Thanks for your input! Its much appreciated.

lol
i don't even know what the fuck i weigh as i don't own a scale
but my girl said she'll bring over her scale tonite as she's coming to me for a nice chicken, rice, and veggie dinner ;D
i'd say that i weigh 75 kg (a buck 65) but maybe i'm @ 80 kg (a buck 76) ideal bodyweight for me @ 6% is 80-82 kg
-
anyways, rating your diet, it's a 2/10. Two whole subs, that's a lot of bread and shit calories. just saying it's only a calorie is moronic when considering the insulin response to the sugars and carbs and the body processes it.
That chicken used in subway subs is so over processed who knows if the protein in it is even salvageable anymore.
Too much processed crap in your diet. Overall the health impact can be a negative on you.

Eating chicken, rice and veggies with a woman, now that's a prime example of living the dream 8)
Believe me, you're way to obsessed with stats, just eat like a horse, train like an animal & sleep like a baby.

How's the diet going?
-
drop fat intake down to a couple handful of mixed nuts a day.
Drop carbs down immensely.
Drop protein down to 30 grams 3-4 times a day.
You need a lot less calories Ach. I'm basically where you want to be at in 3 months. We have/had the same proportions and build. I believe you're natty too, correct? I am..
