A softer version of Brandon Curry with smaller legs
Something to get excited about
::)
-
He could've came in harder. Whole competition was lackluster..Too bad Nick Trigili pulled out last minute after all that shit talk
-
Potential top 3 at Nabba Universe
7 -15 at Ifbb World amateur championship
-
.
-
Lat asymmetry? Kinda reminds me of Dennis James. And why is the Physique Competitor winner more impressive?
-
Pecs need to be bigger but other than that he looks decent. Edit.... Chest is disgusting
-
also superheavyweight winner Ryan Pateracki, so this guy is also a pro now...
-
and that guy Anton said I wouldnt even place at the nationals, superheavys would be my class and this guy looks bad from the back.
-
Super heavies was embarrassing
You look good Ro
-
Bigro looks way better than the winner.

Nick would have won the whole thing. I wonder what really happened to him.

Two (2) IFBB Pro cards were awarded in every single weight class, in every single division. ::)

Agreed. I believe they gave out almost 100 IFBB Pro cards at this single show. That's counting bodybuilding, board shorts, fitness, figure, physique, etc.

pro card should be given to OVERALL-winner only like 1980s & 90s

I know some hilarious shit about Kevin Jordan but would be wrong to shit all over the guy.

This is getbig..you'd be wrong not to share :D
-
Spill the beans Chiro or prepare to feel wrath.
BTW is he half Hebrew?
-
Yup..he's a brother
-
Yup..he's a brother
Facially he reminds me of this 5'2 170 hispanic dude who used to compete back in the mid 90s...Avado or something like that.

is Chad Nichols his contest prep guru?

Sorry to say bigRo but you wouldn't, you're way too thin. Your pic looks good by itself but would be exposed for lack of size, against those guys. You have a good physique but need another 20lbs of muscles to compete at that US nationals.
-

I hung out with Nick last month, he looked really good, very focused, strict on his diet. I though it was his show to win. Not sure why he pulled out but from the pics of the other competitors & how he looked a month out at 270+ & very conditioned, I didn't see anyone that would've beaten him. Hopefully he bounce back & get his card next yr.
-

so I would not place top six in superheavys yet that lump of turd would win? mhm ::)
-
Placing at Nats is top 5 not top 6. If by lump of turd you mean Nick?? If so, Nick has much more muscles on his frame than you & even he needs to fill out more. check the ego, if you can't take criticism that anyone who knows anything about bodybuilding can see, then you're in the wrong sport.
-
I meant the guy who won the superheavys this year. If you honestly believe that is a better physique than mine maybe your in the wrong sport. Nick Trigili would take me, I don't doubt that. And yes I agree I have plenty of growing to do to go for pro, but here in europe the judging is a little different usually its more for quality than quantity.

Do you mean conditioning when you say 'quality'?
-
not just conditioning, balance shape structure...
-
not just conditioning, balance shape structure...
It's kind of hard to place these guys when no one is in proper shape and no one looks
real pleasing. The overall winner isn't in shape but the structure is good compared to the rest.
Probably a pretty good decision. Who would you have win the overall?
-
I would have to look through the pictures properly at MD and get back, probably still Kevin due to his mass but his legs were out of balance with the upper body and the back lacked details from behind, nice glutes though no homo lol
-
Two (2) IFBB Pro cards were awarded in every single weight class, in every single division. ::)
Yep! That's what I've been saying all along , looks like anyone can be a pro nowadays .
Guess they are trying to get more competitors to compete in the ifbb
Half of these guys wouldn't have been able to do shit in the NPC's in the 90's or early 2000's....
All soft glazed donuts!!
"All juice!! All gear!! Heavy eating!! Light weight training for 5 yrs!!"
-
My buddy Jonathan irrizarry looked pretty good though 8)
-
Agree with BigRo, winner Patteracki looked like crap in the Super heavies, Nick would have destroyed if he competed! Kevin Jordan has a Pro upper body but needs to bring his legs up! Danny Hester finally got his pro card!
-
Danny Hester is the best aesthetic among the new pros.
-
-
is Chad Nichols his contest prep guru?
yes
-
Middleweight Thomas Anderson should have won the overall title, he has more potential to do well in the 212's than Kevin Jorden has in with the big boys. Great all round physique, very impressed.

you're confusing a better physique (structure for BB'ing) with being able to beat the SHW winner today. Heath has a better structure than Branch but there was a point where Phil simply wasn't big enough & wouldn't beat Branch, he didn't hv enough muscles. Now that Phil is filled out, its a different story. You would NOT have beaten the SHW or place top 5 at Nats, you don't hv enough muscles. No matter how conditioned, structured or whatever else you have over him.
It's the same judging criteria here as in Europe. The difference is Europeans don't have as much muscles. When no one has size, the criteria shifts to other factors. The biggest names to come out of Europe in the past 15 yrs are Yates, federor, Wolf & a few others. These guys were bigger than anyone else & dominated there with their size as well as condition, structure, etc. Also, it's easier to get super lean when you're not as big. However, when you stand next to someone with a lot more size, even if your condition, shape, structure is a little better, you'll disappear next to them. Best example of this is big Ramy at the NY pro, 2nd - 5th had much better condition than him.
-
yes size is important.
I wouldn't be worthy top five at this years SHW National class?...utter bullshit. 6ft 240lbs on stage is not small! And dont bring this check your ego shit to me, I am as humble bodybuilder you will get but that doesn't mean I cant speak my mind.
-
2 things 1st rudy no nationals for u big man why not?and 2nd big ro looks great shape, balance ,totallook,he reminds same as chris cook from eons ago ,same look /balance,ro gets in better condition than cookbut as u said he needs size ,cook had that over ro same look but bigger ,ro could head there too as u said with more size.cook had good total package.

I thought Joel would take SH but he just can't seem to nail his conditioning. He should have gotten the nod over Patteracky IMHO for his overall balance, muscle density and size. What happened to Nick last minute is vexing to say the least.

that pic tells u a bit smaller than winner but nice lines and taper ,winner big but block waist'square',genetics go one way or other, and packing on muscle to overcompensate only goes so far that could be top 5 but not winners circle here it won so be it..

waddup bro?? No Nats cause I was afraid I'd run into a guy like bigRo who'd crush me with his amazing condition at 6 foot & 240 ;D. Jk. I'm pro bro. That's why no Nat's.
yes size is important.

I'm shorter than you, bigger than you & I needed more size. Check your ego bro, it ain't bs. You need lots of size regardless of what your height/weight. Flex & Nasser were the same height, Nasser was 280's & swore flex was only 220's. Height/weight doesn't tell as much as pictures in many cases. You're pic says you need a lot more size. No disrespect but if you take it that was, so be it.
-
Not taking anything personally Rudy, but I did take a look at the pics of top 5 SHW and the only guy who I thought looked better was 2nd placer Noel and even he was not in condition from behind. Peace.

I can accept that. Not debating your physique/structure, just the size right now, once that's packed on no debate about how you'd do at any top show. Good luck in the future bro.
Rudy= IFBB Pro
big Mike.

I wondered if that was Danny Hester. He was Bill Philip's poster boy back when I was teen, looked awesome

I met Danny at this time. Bill Phillips was actually drug testing him to keep his contract with MM. Danny was claiming he would already have his Pro card if it wasn't for the testing

I will try to find a better comparison but winner also had that torn bi that stood out. Joel still got his card and if he maintains his aesthetics and comes in shredded he could be a good pro. He really should have come down to heavyweight and been a shredded freak with superb lines.
Aaron Clark is one new pro that comes in shredded!
-

i dont think so.
they dont have 20lbs muscle over him, they have 10lbs of waterbloof and 10lbs of gut and god knows what over him.
the back of the overall winner has all the marks of a shitty back, high lats, thin lats(hell mine are thicker from behind and mine are pathetic), the whole back is soft soft soft like a fresh turd.
they got nothing on ro, and ro has way dryier conditioning.

I couldn't place top 6 in Canada at 235 lbs. and i'm under 5'10
-

agreed. A lot of thick quality muscle.
-

what's wrong with you, bringing logic into a Getbig debate ??? Besides, it's 4 - 5 times the number of competitors.

Quantity, not quality...

ppl say you only look better than the heavyweight, i think you look better than the overall winner.
either way, the guy who said you wouldnt place top5 at usa npc divisions is full of bs.
as for the argument that ppl are small in europe, lol, i dont think so, not sure if the one who said so has been to european shows.
its easy to outweight others when not fully dry.
harder to get as lean when bigger?hm yeah how comes, one might ask.
there are those typical conpetitors in europe with the striated glutes but soft backs, this is nothing special and this doesnt mean the guys have more size, which is a relative term.
in 3 months is arnold classic, a guy i know will compete there, and i dont see him outmassed by any american,if they even attend.

The amount of praise you've received on Getbig is swelling your ego BigRo.
Your physique is amazing, but not as good as you think.
Until you stand next to those guys don't assume you are just as good.

Obviously not. ::)
People can speak their mind and still be humble. You however, have not.

These guys don't look as bad as people think.
It was a solid class.
However I'm not sure what is going on with so many weak chests nowadays.

Indeed and it sucked for nationals. Also with USA's, NA and Nationals talent is getting watered down some.
When Arron Clark won his card in the heavyweight class he was 202 and beat guys with well over 20lbs on him. Until people stand side by side on stage it's awful hard to speculate on how they would stack up.

exactly. I've seen lightweights that on their own look like Mr. O. when the overall comes out , wow, that's him?? no way.
also, remember how much better guys used to look at the ironman, when they were actually peaking for the Arnold the following week? all the extra drying out and sharpening up couldn't make up for the difference in the lighting being worse.
I always wondered why Arnold didn't hire the lighting guys from the Ironman.

You also bring up another good point. Joel competed in an NPC show the week before nationals and took second. I think that helped him guage his dry out and see how he looked on stage. So many pro's and amateurs pick one show and that's it. No better way to track progress than to get on stage next to other competitors and adjust from there.

the shitty thing here in Canada , there is only one show a year I was ever allowed to do, the nationals. i'd get so pissed at screwing it up I wouldn't try again for a few years. but I never hit my peak onstage. always looked better from 3 weeks to 3 days out than I did onstage.

Hazbin, so many unbelievable Bodybuilders missed their peaks, Rory Leidlemeyer, Matt Mendenhall, Edgar Fletcher just to name a few off the top of my head! All should have been great pro's!

I won the overall once , the heavyweight twice, and the masters once so they said I couldn't do them again.
Western Canada's was a good level show that I may have eventually won, but they eliminated it in the mid nineties.
here's my last chance at winning the westerns, 1995. 5'9.5 239lbs. second place.
I think the jump from provincial to national is too big. plus it seems you have to do the nationals each year to place better.

In those pics that Joel guy looks real good, a bit bloofy but good development and shape.
A couple of weeks ago a friend showed me some video of him and asked me what I thought.
I said he looked good but suspected he might be a "gym physique"... but he did look good here.
-
Agree with BigRo, winner Patteracki looked like crap in the Super heavies, Nick would have destroyed if he competed! Kevin Jordan has a Pro upper body but needs to bring his legs up! Danny Hester finally got his pro card!
Sweet! We've been friends for 20+ years. I didn't even know he was doing the Nationals.

more ifbb pro cards should be issued to top European,Asian....bodybuilders. not just in USA only.

Hester had/has one of the smallest waist/narrow hip structure I have seen on a bodybuilder.

The amount of praise you've received on Getbig is swelling your ego BigRo.
Your physique is amazing, but not as good as you think.
Until you stand next to those guys don't assume you are just as good.
calm down, i seen right before me guys of that size and bigger, hell i seen mr olympia stage competitors right before me, one guy i personaly know,he bigger than rhoden, if you measure just the size, rhoden just has superior insertions etc.
anyone who thinks ro wouldnt be competitive on an npc stage is delusional.
as ive said, soon is arnold classic, good opurtunity to go for everyone and setltle that right there.
ro is 240 contest ready with tight waist, the others are 20lbs more with thicker waist, yah maybe bit bigger some bodyparts but he wouldnt be dwarfed.at all.
rami looked dwarfed at the o,from lighter and supposedly smaller guys

I was quite expressive in all my posts yesterday it was just the moon and the stars nothing to do with an engorging ego now I have my bluestars and my own appreciation thread. I stand by what I was saying mainly that there's a mythos around the USA national stage that obscures some peoples objectivity when viewing these physiques and that pro cards are obtained to easily. Of course they would look better in person than in pics but the lighting was not bad. I am not saying I would make a good pro instead,no, plenty more development needed for that.
-
Obviously not. ::)
People can speak their mind and still be humble. You however, have not.
How do you know? I respect Rudys opinion and worth as a bodybuilder. Would I have toned myself if I knew it was a pro speaking to me? Maybe, but then that would not have been sincere of me.
And Bikini no offense intended but you come across sometimes like a man. Peace.

I hung out with Nick last month, he looked really good, very focused, strict on his diet. I though it was his show to win. Not sure why he pulled out but from the pics of the other competitors & how he looked a month out at 270+ & very conditioned, I didn't see anyone that would've beaten him. Hopefully he bounce back & get his card next yr.

more ifbb pro cards should be issued to top European,Asian....bodybuilders. not just in USA only.
musclecenter, I LOVE YOU BRO , NO HOMO, But I do not understand why you or everyone is saying this, seriously, pro qualifiers in Europe do not yield 1000 entries like the pro qualifiers in the USA so they should not get as many pro cards.
NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY EVERYONE
THE USA GIVES AWAY THE LEAST AMOUNT OF PROCARDS OUT OF THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD
YES, THE VERY LEAST AMOUNT..
For example here in Canada, they give 2 pro cards a year away in the open mens division and if you look at the total entries in the men's open division in Canada, it is around 1000 entries per year
so one can say they give away every year 1 pro card per 500 entries.
Now in the states, it has 350 million people and so many love bodybuilding, like in the tens of thousands per year so the number of pro card per entries is actually lower then any other country. The entries would be even higher then 500 entries per year per pro card.
HTH
-
what's wrong with you, bringing logic into a Getbig debate ??? Besides, it's 4 - 5 times the number of competitors.
;D
-

to be frank, most of the asian bbers do not have the bone frame to compete with the ifbb pros.

i dont think BigRo was bragging- actually if anyone takes it as that i'd say the issues lays more with their own insecurities than his.
he was just speaking his mind, which he is entitled to- why shouldnt he be? and who cares if he thinks he can crack top 5 at the Nats- thats bragging? id say thats self awareness.
anyway that being said, objectively its hard to say what anyone would look like in comparison to another till you get them beside each other on stage.
i see a guy who at 6' 240 has great symmetry for a white guy, and he packs on very dense lean tissue, which is kind of good to see given the way things tend to be going.
i'd like to see what hed look like with just 10 more pounds. 10 pounds when you carry it as well as ro does would be a shit ton of muscle.
im staying away from the whole pro card argument. imo it depends on who shows up that day. theres always some freak nobody has really heard about that seems to come out of the woodpile so you can never count on anything, but ro w 10 more pounds and i dont think we'd even need to be having this conversation.
cheers to all.

Ok here is the deal with the NPC guys, when your on heavy slin some of your lines may be distorted and aesthetics are compromised hence in a 2 dimensional picture you may not look as good as you would in real life, live and up close.
So where am I going with this?
The European bodybuilders are more aesthetic and have superior qualities which when viewed in a 2-dimensional picture they look extremely impressive, now that is the difference from the NPC guys.
What does this mean on a bodybuilding stage, well it means that the NPC guys are fucken enormous in live view and their 3D affect is insane, they would dwarf the European bodybuilders in a real life stage and this is not clear when comparing pics, that is why all the European guys thing they would best the NPC guys but live in person it becomes a whole different stories.
Now having said that I still think big row is top 5 at the NPC nationals, maybe even top 3 but my lord these guys in real life at the NPC look like enormous monsters and when viewed in picture they look like shit.

does shawn rhoden count as npc level? ;D
seen him, and other than legs,(and gut!),he didnt realy dwarf the euros.
yeah on stage, it depends from how far or close one views, from some distance the more shredded guy will look better(upclose),from afar, the shreddd guy will be somewhat dwarfed and look flat, while the big guy will look just lean enough and huge,
ppl can say what they want, but on european shows, almost everyone of the placing guys will have a proper xmas tree.
there was this one short guy, huge, shocking huge legs, general big size, striated glutes, but other than that looked soft.i was looking at him and asking myself the whole time, wtf is wrong here, somethings off.
when dexter jackson says insulin makes his quad separation fade, i can only imagine what the other guys must be doing, bc on them almost every line fades away, lol.

well Rhoden came in from the north americas and so did Dexter (that show favour aesthetics over size) and not the npc nationals but nevertheless he is an exception, I am talking only on averge, there are some massive euro dudes of course, just look at Rami

When u talking about slin use does it apply to pretty much most competitors regardless of class weight? For ex. How bout welterweight guys and even middleweights? A lot of them are having that blurred look as well, but figuring those guys are what 165-176, is slin really necessary? I mean that's attainable with just juice I presume u don't even need to touch GH
-
why the fukk do these guys have ugly GH guts and they are not even pros yet? disgusting shite and the current BB scene is utter rubbish compared to the 90s.

well more or less, reason why the lighter guys are on slin is because the trainers-coaches-gurus, whatever you want to call them are the same ones that prep the big guys and we all know how they recommend slin like if its the holy grail. Keep in mind slin will add volume even at a light weight so these guys come in real puffy even if they are a middle weight

UR RIGHt..they all use same stuff difference is a 5'6 middleweight weighs in say 173 and then carbs up 180/185 depending on there process that's still a big amateur bber, after pro they have to pack it on to be 212 guy, then u have a 5'6 lightheay/heavy 198/220 stage weight huge, depends on how much size the frame can grow .some real freaks out there...
