Same thing happened to a friend of mine. She got the flu shot (last winter here) and then one week later came down with the flu.

Pass by any CVS or Wallgreens and you'll see signs that say: "Free flu shots"

Never had one and never got the flu just a rip off from medical doctors. See doctors are in on all kinds of shit to make money you have to decide where to draw the line.
Sometimes it is the doctors who encourage folks to get these shots, but more often then not it is the pharmaceutical companies who push them. They are offered at the Safeway pharmacy in our neighborhood all the time, no doctor necessary. Not only flu shots are hawked, so are shingles shots now. Like how many people do you know who've had the shingles? It seems like a scam to me.

You are right, in that the pharmaceutical companies regularly call on doctors to tout their latest meds. Of course, profits are much lower when it comes to generic meds, but the shit name brand stuff they advertise on television, etc. that will cure whatever ails you regardless that you didn't even know you were sick bring in big bucks for all.
I bet there are a lot of folks who go to their doctors asking for drugs they don't really need and there are a lot of doctors who are willing to accommodate them with a prescription. Case in point, most people don't really need HRT live a healthy life and yet we get it when we whine to our doctors hard enough.

I used to think the conspiracy theories about vaccines were crazy but not anymore. One simple thing changed my mind: Why do the pharma companies make vaccines WITHOUT the mercury component in the preservative if it is not harmful? Why spend all the money manufacturing them with and without if it is not harmful. For the tiny fraction of people that ask for the non-mercury variant? no way.

ive gotten the flu once every 5 years or so... i got a flu shot two years ago because our company paid for it..... the next day i felt so bad sweating numb body... but it went away the next day when i woke up

Even if it was free or I got paid to get the flu shot, I wouldn't take it. It basically pumps the flu into your body and gives you the flu. There are many different strains of virus's/flu's circulating. More negatives to getting the flu shot than positives.

I seriously am beginning to agree with Chiro... that many of these companies put out products to make you sick and get you into the cycle of medication where they can make money on your ass... because they sure aren't when you're healthy.

Tell you the truth, the more I learn, about the FACTS OF THE MATTER, not opinions or biased shit, the more I am appalled at what is going down behind the scenes. I need to qualify my opinion. I have never had the flu. I am naturally immune to smallpox since the vaccine never takes on me, (despite several vaccinations, I have no smallpox scar). My wife had chickenpox and shingles. I never did. I suspect it is just something I am naturally immune to. BTW, neither or our children have ever had chickenpox. I don't remember either of them ever having the flu either. Hmm, maybe I should have fathered a tribe of flue and chickenpox resistant children.

I still feel pretty shitty. The worst part is the nights when I can't sleep because of the fever and coughing. When I wake up, my sheets are soaked in sweat. I usually start feeling a little better as the day goes on, but then its like I am back at square one the next morning

When you have kids, you get the flu shot, like 240 said. It's not just to protect you at that point. It's to protect them as well. I never used to get it either, until a doctor I trust made it clear to me that is was unsafe for the kids for me not to get it. My wife works in a hospital as well, so she has to get it as well.
Ironically, I got the shot this year, and I got the flu anyway. I'm about 2 weeks into it (nearing the end of it now) and it sucked bad. BUT I did not transmit it to my wife or kids. That, to me, is why I do it and have the kids get it.
I am not comfortable with it at all, but this year, I saw why it is important. Like someone said above, injecting hormones > danger then flu shots. Even pharma grade. But you'll see when you have kids. Your opinions change a lot.

In all seriousness... I have. Along with vaccines etc. To be honest I'm one of the biggest haters of pharma around. My wife works for a cancer hospital. I am convinced they can cure that shit but don't want too. So trust me, I am with you.
I have a child hood friend who is an MD... someone I trust. He says the benefits outweigh the possibility of it being harmful for the kids. The flu for a 1 year can be deadly. Tough decisions to make. If you have kids some day you'll understand.
But being Chinese, wouldn't you just use acupuncture anyway????

I am no expert on the flu, having never had it. But it seems to me most of these viruses only last a day or so. There are other more serious illnesses that cause night sweats. If he isn't feeling been darn soon, he should see his doctor.

Absolutely, it wouldn't hurt to see the doctor for peace of mind. I do know that flu's/virus's are getting nastier and lasting longer these days.
