Yes, there will be subjectivism and it's totally up to me and the other 2 honorary founding members and the only 2 exclusive club member while being also the first inductees .. I started training my legs again after a 7 year hiatus and am now remembering how cool and easy is when you have great genetics for legs.

Is everyone short here?
I'm 5'11" which is supposed to be the average height or a tad more in my home country but to be honest I do feel pretty short most of the time... probably since most of my friends are over 6'2".. was even worse when I was living in the Netherlands where the average height for men is over 6 feet.
Every time I go to Asia or even places like Spain I feel like a giant though especially when over 220 lbs.

You've got huge arms and you're a massive guy in general, born with the genes to become a huge bodybuilder, I'd say you could have gotten to IFBB pro size if you had taken large amounts of AAS .. most likely at least. This is not something that anyone could do or even the majority ... and yet your legs are clearly far behind your upper body. Of course not every muscle grows the same and responds to training and drugs the same but someone with an upper body like yours and on AAS should easily be able to get his legs big.
I'm not saying your legs are shit and I also think that you've posted before that huge legs are not on your wishlist anyway and that's absolutely acceptable but your statement against squats in combination with the picture you've posted holds little value. You make it sound like squats are NOT the best excersise for lower body development as well as one of the if not the best excersise overall for strength, size and functionality...
My legs have been built almost exclusively with squats, during 10 out of the 12 years that I've been working out my ONLY lower body excersises were squats, deadlifts and calf raises with 80% of my energy going into the squats. I am a guy who was born with below average genes for building muscle, my body seems to fight every ounce of new lean mass I put on and I've always had trouble packing on the meat but my quads are my strongest and biggest part.

I squat or hack squat every workout 'leg'wise long time ,I believe squats in general cover all basses on leg mass if that's the desired effect wanted,low rep/hi rep /drops/painful pumps is what builds good to great legs,cover all bases and most will be set.

Squats are not the best exercise for stressing the legs and inducing muscle growth.
Think about it, how much weight can you push in a leg press compared to a squat?
What lets you down on the squat?
Its the low back, you can only squat as much as your lower back can take, not the legs.
Take the low back out of the equation and you can increase stress on the quads and hams.
That is all.

I think you hold some wacky ideas (particularly vis-a-vis Reptilians), and I still strongly differ with you on "Breaking Bad"'s quality -- or that it "glorifies" meth-cooking, for that matter -- BUT ...
That said ... :)
While you don't have gigantic wheels, they're about perfectly proportioned. With a tick more calves, I'd call them perfect, totally no homo. You don't have that stupid turnip thigh look and, even at less than totally shredded, you still have crazy-ass separation.
I know you've squatted decent numbers at relatively low bodyweights. To what do you attribute most of your leg development, Sev?

I really tried to make it clear that I'm not hating on you. I even clearly said that your legs are of course more than decent and most people would be more than happy to reach this level of development but for someone with your genes and arms over 19" those legs are sub-par and if you'd start squatting they'd be growing a few inches in no time for sure... and I'm talking about quality muscle, lean and deeply seperated beef.
Ok back to original topic... trying to find some good pics of my calves since they are really my best bodypart, even better than my upper legs but the pictures I've posted so far don't really do them justice, they are pretty big for a small framed guy with tiny joints like myself and they've got great shape and deep cuts... mhh the few good pics I've found on my hard drive are certainly not to be posted on here ... were never meant for the public, that's all I'm gonna tell ya :D Well I've got 4 cameras lying around so I might as well just take a few snapshots ..

Truth is I dont want them any bigger. I have always said that arnold type legs are the ideal..not big crazy thighs. I could easily blow them out..it's just my genes.
I do three sets of leg press. Not heavy. Three sets extensions...three leg curl.
Standard stuff..nothing insane..always heep the reps high

Great legs don't need squats. Just genetic shape, diet and proper stimulus through intelligent training. I started training my legs again after a 7 year hiatus. I will not do a single squat nor heavy presses etc. Just unilateral movements with light weights.

Its the low back, you can only squat as much as your lower back can take, not the legs.
Take the low back out of the equation and you can increase stress on the quads and hams.

Squats recruit more motor units than just about another exercise in the selection. Load factors along with higher volume means greater growth. Deep squats promote recruitment of the glutes and hamstrings. Free squats also promote better growth because it doesn't isolate like a machine.

Groink made a good point.....he doesn't like the quads of nowadays where they are tear drop fucking huge....he prefers the classic lines of the Arnold era. I personally do as well. I think that looks better than these Big Ramy/Branch type quads.

Any guy can have big quads, but legs are only a wow if the hamstrings and most importantly calves are also in tact.

Thats a good explanation of the alledged benefits of squats, however the weakest link in a squat is the lower back, Simon is at least right on that point, so your best squat is always dependant on your lower back.
So to summarise the squat isnt going to stress the leg muscles as much as a leg press as your legs bear the brunt of the exercise not the weak link lower back and that then surely leads to better stimulus of the legs.
Squats are great for overall body strength as a core stabilty exercise but not ideal for building legs.

The rest is food and anabolics given a decent genetic shape.

I do lunges and bulgarian split squats with a DB now...works just as good. That's it for quads on one of my twice monthly quad workouts.
Also, I can front squat with almost no tension on the back, but that's probably just how I'm put together. So I do front squats once per month too on the other day.
I train hamstrings like a demon though...2x/week. Your hammies can never be too big, or too strong, in my opinion. Strong hammies relieve a lot of tension from the lower back and knees (both of mine are worse for wear). And I think they look neat.
I'm too cowardly to post a pic, so this is my only contribution to a thread where real people post. ;D

I've squatted 500 for reps. I have no back issues. I'm strong as an ox. The only thing I ever got out of squats was a. Huge ass.
I did the "hardcore" tthing...wraps..chalk..w aking up paralyzed.
Then I kept learning and stopped beating the shit out of my body

high bar squats really upright as possible up and down makes for best development around the knees but allows for less weigt

If you have no structural damage but have a bad lower back from squatting, there's a flaw in your mechanics or you just flat out can't squat. I've said this a thousand times....not everyone is built to squat.

When done correctly, squats are a full body exercise. You don't have to lift massive amounts of weight to gain the benefits of squats. In fact, form is the key to success and should be your goal rather than moving tons of weight.
