Despite the vascularity, he won't win any shows in 2017 with those underdeveloped wheels.  Not a chance.

Kevin is really going out of his way lately to try to make people believe his legs weren't as bad a what people witnessed at the Olympia.

They will never look like they did in the 90's and early 2000's again. If starts squatting heavy again he will end up with a serious injury. Can't do that shit in your 50's.

Exactly.  And I can guarantee you that when his legs still look like melted candlesticks next year, he will play the "I was injured" card again, this time blaming it on heavy squats, or claiming he aggravated a previous injury.

Post by: Fortress on September 27, 2016, 09:51:29 AM
He's got that ever-more-vascular/vanishing-separation-and-cut-muscularity appearance to his wheels. No matter how much he balloons his thighs, this will not change. And like many oldtime weight trainers, his knees no longer look "slim".

It's over. If he competes again, he'll be larger but appear considerably worse than this last O showing.

Like some others here, I've been around for a long time. I know how this goes.

Kevin NEEDS to accept that it's over, stop fucking around and pursue other things. Forget the in-the-spotlight nonsense, all together.

(In a very sad sense, he's on his way to Branchland.)

Yepp, kevin seem to max it out...with gear and training...could end up bad. Accepting age isent that easy...

Well. Lets give him one more chance, he might look a little bit better than THis years Mr O...but...he will probably just enter the stage with more veins n blurry muscles with no separation...getting old suck if your not a professor or priest!

Wouldbe nice to see a bigger kevin enter the pro stage though!

I was squaring 315 for 20 reps  using the Smith Machine into my 50's. Kept my legs big and full. I would do 4 or 5 sets of leg presses working up to 10 plates on each side. Then I would go over to the Smith machine do 20.reps with either 135 or 225 sometimes. both. Then crank out 20 with 315. I would sometimes get 2 20 rep sets with 315.depending how spent I was. Worked great for me.

End of this charade .

WooOSHHHHHHHH

He obviously needs to change up his leg training. Think he would get better results doing higher rep more controlled movements. He could get a lot more out of doing the same weight on the Smith Machine by changing his stance and foot placement. Can focus more on the muscle, and not have to worry about stabilizing the weight. But what the fuck do I know.

315 is fine. Kevin was talking about squating in the 400''s for reps..

So Kevin was benching & squatting 405 1 week out from the Olympia... and then started claiming injuries? Yeah right.

In 1994, Dorian tore his bicep while performing barbell rows. He said that he pretty much had to stop training his upper body. He still retained most of his mass during that 6 week period. He still competed. And he won.

Levrone was benching & squatting 405 leading up to the 2016 Olympia, which means, he was healthy.

The guy needs to reevaluate the way he is training. It obviously is not working for him the same way it did in his 20's and 30's. That is if he is truly serious about competing again.

Yup...Old people think that because they're sore in areas they never been sore in the past that it's an injury...Kevin isn't touching those numbers if he was injured. Fact of the matter is he wasn't injured and could walk into any department store and buy skinny jeans off the rack and fit into them...

Four plates on a Smith isn't 405. Three ain't 315, etc.

The Smith machine is a fantastic piece of apparatus on which to seriously injure oneself. Its very design makes the body exert force in an extremely unnatural fashion.

Kevin is a lousy squatter.

His leg pressing is pathetic.

Levrone's wheels are a blurry, veiny mess, and his knees have gotten thick.

He is still likely on a boatload of gear. In every other social media post he is selling crap just like the rest of the 'fitness pro's".

Is he special because he used to be great, went on a pile of gear, ate/trained/dieted and got on stage with a special invite? I must be missing something. It did give the Olympia more hype I suppose but it was the same old politically driven Olympia.

Agree, about the Smith machine. My point is whether it is 3 or 4 plates on each side, it is more than enough weight to stimulate growth if done properly.

great idea mr white, especially for his 50 collar uncrowned king  shirt, he could have  a new one made with his body from this years olympia

I don't. Keep lifting (even though we know he's not truly passionate about the activity). Take the occasional pic.

But stay off the goddamn stage.

i really think the reason he will compete again is kevin doesnt have much money,  he will pull the con job , and people will believe he can place high

it will keep him his job at md,  and he will hope that more people will buy his crappy supplements, but the supplement market is so crowded, i dont even know how many

pros have there own lines, and there shit is so over priced, i cant even believe there are idiots out there that will pay double or triple for a pros supplements.

this is the only hope kevin has, kevin has never worked a real job or probably had to get up like most people he has no concept of what the real world is.

hes been roiding and being taken care of by people since he was a teenager.

great idea mr white, especially for his 50 collar uncrowned king  shirt, he could have  a new one made with his body from this years olympia

and right below his   picture it reads 16th place 2016 mr olympia, the king wasnt crowned this year .

this will motivate the marlynd muscle machine to train harder , up the does    and finally become the king

He def needs better colors but the number 16 would be perfect on the back. He competed in 2016 and finished 16th. I'm sure he could provide a a video discussing this coincidence. He's such an inspiration! ;)

I agree it's likely Kevin doesn't have much money. At 50, he's probably looking at a financial struggle for the last half of his life. What can he do, besides push fart powders? The dude has never really worked, I'd imagine. Maybe a Summer job in his high school days ... I don't know.

I don't wish hardship on the man. We've met and, although not an individual of much "colour" (in personality), he wasn't unpleasant.

He's delaying the inevitable. He needs to earn a skill and stop fucking around.

hey fortress also i remember, cause i was a dork in highschool and bought all the flex and muscle and fitness magazines like a dumbass. kevin was married and after his successfull rookie year he went a bit overboard on spending like flex wheeler.

flex did a kevin life style part,  he was part owner of a gym had a house on a lake and one of those very expensive speed boats , flash forward a few years later, his wife divorces him, his contest placings were lower and lower, i dont think kevin was endoring much back then either, there were fewer opportunities for  guys then .

I remember going to my first bodybuilding show, NPC Southern States, back in 2001. Kevin Levrone was the guest poser and being a naive high school kid catching the bodybuilding bug, I was excited to finally meet a top IFBB Pro. I only went to the pre-judging, so it wasn't crazy busy outside of the auditorium where the booths were, and I was surprised to see Kevin behind a table with nobody around him. Literally nobody was there, so I went up and paid for an autograph. One would think he would be appreciative and maybe even take a couple minutes to talk to me since he wasn't doing much of anything. He probably said 5 words at the most. I wouldn't say he was a dick, but he definitely didn't have much of a personality or seemed appreciative. For a consistent top 5 contender, he marketed himself so poorly

That's a shame. No doubt I've met nicer guys within the "sport". Jay Cutler was signing autographs at a nutrition store by my house around the same time and it was a similar situation with no one at all being around. As boring as people say Jay is, he talked to my brother and me for 5-10 minutes and was actually really cool and down to earth.

Fairly recently (say, 10 years ago) a friend and I spotted a meet 'n greet poster at a local nutrition store featuring Rich Gaspari. For a hoot, I suggested we go.

So here's a dude decades past any sort of (limited) public relevance, no one outside of the owner and manager is there, and The Dragonslayer is being all stand-offish and rude towards my bud and I.

We're like, This scene is lame (I actually said, out loud, something to this affect), and we bailed. Some useless Gaspari pre-workout sample packs in hand.

I don't get some people.

Had a similar experience with Kevin also guest posing at the Southern States. May have been the same year not sure. Asked him if he would take a pic with my wife. Said wait a minute then motioned for her to come over for me to take it. He was very quiet and stand offish. Probably only did it because my wife was attractive.

Also had a similar situation to that when Mark Alvisi opened his supplement store down here and Gaspari was there. The group I was with wanted to take a pic with him all together and he was real hesitant at first and not friendly at all. Ironically Bob Chick walked by my friend and I and even said how's it going haha. I shouldn't be hard on the guy because he seemed like a naturally friendly guy but the Mirage ice machine jokes and the stretching pictures are too good to pass up on.

Intensity brings mass.

Correction: HIGH Intensity (HIT) brings mass, which is comprised of low reps, heavy weights. Blitz the muscle in as short as a time as possible. Get in and get out and repeat that same muscle 1 week later and you have MASS (growth). Ask Casey Viator, the Mentzer brothers, and Dorian Yates.

It's 315. Also, his technique is mostly low back. Guy's no expert squatter.

Dude had built some serious wheels early in his career, so he knew a thing or two about heavy squats.

Not necessarily. Like many/most responders who're willing to exploit this with gallons of juice, he would have built muscle despite using poor technique and/or exercise selection.

A great many of the world's biggest and best bodybuilders are very modestly knowledgeable when it comes to weight training.

Seen it, in person, time and again.

Watching that video, it's obvious Levrone was never a master squatter. That he might have been capable of huge amounts of weight at some point only points, again, to the deal with great responders with a willingness to use.

Well said.

Had a similar experience with Kevin also guest posing at the Southern States. May have been the same year not sure. Asked him if he would take a pic with my wife. Said wait a minute then motioned for her to come over for me to take it. He was very quiet and stand offish. Probably only did it because my wife was attractive.

3 things i don't get

you wanted to meet him, he wasn't trying to meet you so why is it his job to carry the conversation with you?  you know some things about him, he knows nothing about you so what did you want him to say to you?

you wanted him to take a pic with your wife, which he did yet you seem to be mad about it, why are you mad?

why do you and many guys want your woman to take pics with bodybuilders?  i don't get that at all, i don't mean any disrespect but is the pic sort of living out a cuckold fantasy without actually letting him bang your wife?  i've seen it many times, guys having their girl take a pic with the bodybuilder i don't get it
