I believe you.  My employer provided health care has gone up dramatically the last few years.  My premiums go up, and coverage goes down every year.   >:(

350+ per month here and have a 3000$ deductible.  I paid less, had a low deductible and better insurance before Obamacare.

Wow.  People think we have free health care here in Canada, but taxes are higher in Canada, so it's not really free.  However, you can be unemployed, have no income and not have paid taxes in years, and if you get in a car accident and end up in the hospital with a broken arm or whatever, you're still covered for the most part.  So yeah, even unemployed bums are taken care of if they go the hospital or visit the doctor.  When I had my motorcycle accident 16 years ago and broke both my legs and dislocated my shoulder, I was in the hospital for a month, and then in a rehab facility after that for an additional 6 weeks.  Thankfully I didn't have to pay a dime.  Although my employer health plan covered the hundreds of Percocet pills I needed for months afterwards until my bones fused.

So you think unemployed bums here in the US of A don't get medical treatment if they are in a car accident or in need?  I've know several "bums" as you call them receive great medical service. One was mailed his bill of $36,000 and he ripped it up and laughed.

STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bums and unemployed have always been provided medical care in the USA.  If anyone walks into an ER, they get treatment, whether they have insurance or not.  It's always been that way.   ???

It's too bad Trump promised to repeal and replace.  He should have let this piece of shit Obamacare die a slow and agonizing death.  People would have been out in the streets demanding the Democrat's heads.

Obamacare was a giant expensive clusterfuck that got more expensive every year with less options and shittier coverage.  It was collapsing in on itself and everyone hated it.

Now if the GOP plan doesn't miraculously turn shit into gold the press is going to rewrite history and pretend everything is Trump's fault.

Very true.  I just hope my cost goes down.  I am paying 1,200 for myself and 2 kids for OC with a 6900 deductible.

Family of 4…

Used to pay approximately $1000.00/month with a $1500.00 deductible and a $25.00 copay..

Since Obamacare, I pay approximately $1300.00/month with a $6300.00 deductible and a $90 copay.  Essentially, this is a catastrophic insurance policy.

I was initially dropped by my insurance despite Obama's promise that I could keep my insurance and Dr.  BTW, as you can clearly see, I did not save $2,500/year.

I cringe whenever i see how much American citizens pay for their insurance.
Where I live its pretty much free but our taxes are insane.
Today i was in the train and a fat lady started eating a whole chocolate cake by herself, mind you not just a piece.. the WHOLE fucking thing. I was thinking when this nutcase gets diabetus my taxes is going to pay for her shit. Thats the big downside you have to pay for other people mistakes and perpetuating idiocracy.
However you never know some shit can happen to you and you thank god you live in a nanny state.

The American Health Care Act (HR 1628) passed by the House today reduces taxes on the American people by over $1 trillion. The bill abolishes the following taxes imposed by Obama and the Democrat party in 2010 as part of Obamacare:

-Abolishes the Obamacare Individual Mandate Tax which hits 8 million Americans each year.

-Abolishes the Obamacare Employer Mandate Tax. Together with repeal of the Individual Mandate Tax repeal this is a $270 billion tax cut.

-Abolishes Obamacare’s Medicine Cabinet Tax which hits 20 million Americans with Health Savings Accounts and 30 million Americans with Flexible Spending Accounts. This is a $6 billion tax cut.

-Abolishes Obamacare’s Flexible Spending Account tax on 30 million Americans. This is a $20 billion tax cut.

-Abolishes Obamacare’s Chronic Care Tax on 10 million Americans with high out of pocket medical expenses. This is a $126 billion tax cut.

-Abolishes Obamacare’s HSA withdrawal tax. This is a $100 million tax cut.

-Abolishes Obamacare’s 10% excise tax on small businesses with indoor tanning services. This is a $600 million tax cut.

-Abolishes the Obamacare health insurance tax. This is a $145 billion tax cut.

-Abolishes the Obamacare 3.8% surtax on investment income. This is a $172 billion tax cut.

-Abolishes the Obamacare medical device tax. This is a $20 billion tax cut.

-Abolishes the Obamacare tax on prescription medicine. This is a $28 billion tax cut.

-Abolishes the Obamacare tax on retiree prescription drug coverage. This is a $2 billion tax cut.

As a presidential candidate in 2008, Barack Obama had promised repeatedly that he would not raise any tax on any American earning less than $250,000 per year. He broke the promise when he signed Obamacare. With the passage of the House GOP bill, tens of millions of middle income Americans will get tax relief from Obamacare's long list of tax hikes.

My cynical side tells me this has less to do with helping Americans and more to do with getting the insurance companies out of a bad situation.  Obamacare was failing and they knew it would be politically impossible with Trump in office to get their yearly taxpayer funded bailout to cover the losses.  They needed a way out and the Republicans gave it to them.  I'm glad that the individual mandate will go but I think any net benefit to the little guy is an afterthought to protecting the big political donor insurance companies.

I'm already out of Obama-care and as a (retired) state employee of Ga.
We're one of the states that already has other options approved by the state  ;)
I chose a KP-HMO plan now instead of the Blue Cross/ Blue shield state "Obama-care".
I found it a little bit cheaper for me and the state. But, it's 90% the same as before.

However, regardless if this new Trump passes or not, your premiums and coverage will be about the same.
The high risk/previous condition folks will be covered by separate state pools.
That will be paid for via state tax generated revenues. That's what's already done with Obama-care.

At the end of the day, quality health care isn't cheap.
Before Obama-care was passed, HMO's dropped people off roles and raised rates each year.

Call this new plan whatever you want , not much will change for the 90% of us in the middle.

List of Pre-Existing Conditions lost under #Trumpcare:
AIDS/HIV, acid reflux, acne, ADD, addiction, Alzheimer's/dementia, anemia, aneurysm, angioplasty, anorexia, anxiety, arrhythmia, arthritis, asthma, atrial fibrillation, autism, bariatric surgery, basal cell carcinoma, bipolar disorder, blood clot, breast cancer, bulimia, bypass surgery, celiac disease, cerebral aneurysm, cerebral embolism, cerebral palsy, cerebral thrombosis, cervical cancer, colon cancer, colon polyps, congestive heart failure, COPD, Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, DMD, depression, diabetes, disabilities, Down syndrome, eating disorder, enlarged prostate, epilepsy, glaucoma, gout, heart disease, heart murmur, heartburn, hemophilia, hepatitis C, herpes, high cholesterol, hypertension, hysterectomy, kidney disease, kidney stones, kidney transplant, leukemia, lung cancer, lupus, lymphoma, mental health issues, migraines, MS, muscular dystrophy, narcolepsy, nasal polyps, obesity, OCD, organ transplant, osteoporosis, pacemaker, panic disorder, paralysis, paraplegia, Parkinson's disease, pregnancy, post traumatic stress disorder, restless leg syndrome, schizophrenia, seasonal affective disorder, seizures, sickle cell disease, skin cancer, sleep apnea, sleep disorders, stent, stroke, thyroid issues, tooth disease, tuberculosis, ulcers.

Rape, pregnancy and C-Section are considered preexisting conditions though.

Crap bill. Basically Obamacare just a bit better. Just replaced a crappy system with a crappy system. Republicans alienated a lot of their base with not repealing and made the democrats even more mad. They now own pretty much all the issues with Obamacare and democrats can blame them instead of themselves.

Luckily the senate isn't going with that bill so hopefully either it gets changed for the better or stopped by those such as Paul, Cruz, etc.

Just wait until millions of trump voters lose insurance altogether.  This whole repeal thing has nothing to do with Trump.  This was all Paul Ryan.  Remember that Paul Ryan hated Trump and made it known publicaly then all of a sudden after a closed door meeting he backed Trump.  Obviously Trump ask him for his support and in return he'll help him push his Health Care reform bill.  Art of the deal right?

Sounds like a reasonable risk if you're already healthy.

Get insurance if you see a need for it.  Get a fake ID.  Don't bring any ID and give them a fake name.  Whatever.  Fuck supporting a system that is robbing everyone blind.

If the country said Fuck This Shit en masse it would force a solution.  Continuing to subsidize corruption out of fear of 'what if' is unacceptable.  Paying crazy money for something you don't need on the off chance you might need it.   ::)  Insurance.

Yes, if you have kids it's different.  Howard STFU.

As long as insurance companies exist and them and hospitals have a monopoly this country will never have a decent health care bill.  My brother got into a car accident.  The cost of the ambulance was $1250 then the cost of getting 2 stitches was $3500, plus other charges.  For a 1 hour worth of time the total bill was about $7000.  it was all covered under his insurance but it's these bullshit costs that make the whole system corrupt as shit.

Sounds like that's about 6 months worth of paying for insurance based on numbers in this thread, never mind the 'deductible.'  Who goes to the hospital every six months?  He'd be a richer man if he was uninsured and paid their retarded costs directly.

Every time you pay your insurer you're voting for them to keep fucking you.  Don't pay 'em.

Insurance is horse shit.  Go do the math.

I'm misunderstanding something.  What is it?

It works like this:

A bum or unemployed falls and splits his head open.  He is taken to the ER and gets all the treatment, X-rays, scans that he needs.  He is later billed by the hospital for $48,000.  The bum laughs and throws the bill in the trash.

Now, a working class citizen such as myself can do the same.  However, not paying the bill would ruin my credit, and the hospital could take me to court and get a court order to make me pay.  Therefore, it's in my best interest to have health insurance.

The bums and unemployed don't give a shit about their credit, and half the time, the hospitals don't even know their real name.  John Doe.

So tell them you're John Doe.  It's a shit system and it's existence is the fault of those who continue to finance it.  Stop financing it.  And that goes for the rest of you who keep on paying for the thing you're bitching about paying for.

It's only in your 'best interest' because you think they have a gun to your head.  They have a gun to everyone's head and everyone needs to say enough is goddamn enough.  It's extortion.

Don't get me started on credit.  ::)  So don't buy shit on credit.  You could probably afford to pay cash for stuff if you quit giving all your money to some insurance company.  "But muh house!"  They want to give you a mortgage.  That's how they stay in business.  And they wouldn't loan more than market value anyway no matter what your credit rating is so they can get it all back if you die of a heart attack.  The loan is secured by the value of the property which they own.  Unless you're a notorious deadbeat they're gonna give you a loan.  Don't fret about your credit score.  You're worrying over nothing.  It makes no difference.  When they tell you it does they are lying.

Yup. The corruption runs deep.  I was talking to a russian woman who was telling me how corrupt the Russian banks were and I told her that all banks are corrupt, how do you think they make so much money.  Her eyes just open wide.  Then later that night so did her legs for me.

Spoken like somebody who has no money or credit.  Let me break it down for you.

Telling a hospital my name is John Doe and not paying my bill is illegal.  I enjoy my well paying job, and my freedom.  Therefore, it is in my best interest to use insurance.  Secondly, credit is very important to me.  It allows me to get loans/mortgages to buy investment items, such as real estate.  Without credit, I would not be able to afford such luxury's and would be forced to rent for the rest of my life.

Insurance and credit are both very important outlets in my life that I am grateful for.

Fine, then pay them out of your pocket.  Most people would be money way ahead, even with crazy hospital costs.

The US Medical/ Insurance system is immoral.  You have an ethical obligation to oppose it.  Would you want your children to inherit this Your Money Or Your Life system?

If you're going to keep paying for insurance out of fear then it would be best to be logically consistent and talk up a storm about how wonderful the insurance and health care system is.  No one says that.

They basically say what you're saying.  I'm getting rammed up the ass and I'm pissed, but I'm more frightened than pissed so I stay bent over.  Maybe it's time to make another choice.

Exactly. Dumbest thing I've ever heard (I don't need insurance because I am relatively healthy).

You just never know.

My friend, who is overall healthy, woke up one morning with a pain in his side. His appendix almost burst. Had to have emergency surgery.

Cost of Appendicitis surgery:

The surgery process costs ranging from $10,000 to $35,000.

You poor, suburban schlubs.  Something is happening.  You're being taken to the cleaners and are too frightened to do anything about it.  That this cruel harvest continues is proof they've got you right where they want you.

You either need 2 hospitals across the street from each other competing on cost and quality or government run socialized medicine.  The current tide of money which continues to flow to insurers is the reason why a hospital can bill $7000 for 2 stitches.

Its delusional. Does the system need to change? Sure. But I am realistic and know its not going to change within the next year. Until then, I need health insurance to ensure that I am not stuck with a $100,000K bill after a potential car accident. It's a safety net until things do change.

If you're going to keep paying for insurance out of fear then it would be best to be logically consistent and talk up a storm about how wonderful the insurance and health care system is.  No one says that.

My current insurance is great.  Before Obamacare, it was incredible.  In 2004, I had a health insurance plan that I paid $95.00 per month.  I needed a septoplasty and polypectomy surgery by an ENT.  Total bill for the scans, surgery, meds, and follow up was around $30,000.00.  I paid a whopping $250.00 out of pocket.  2005 -2007, I had regular appointments with an allergist, and received allergy shots every week.  I paid around $15.00 per month.  Basically, my insurance was perfect.  I paid nearly nothing for the insurance, and my doctor bills were minimal.

Then, along came Obamacare.  Since it's inception, annually, my insurance premium has gone up, and my medical coverage has gone down.  I currently need a surgery on my hand, for a benign cell tumor that is between my middle and index finger.  Under my old insurance, it would have cost me a few hundred dollars.  Under the current Obamacare, it will cost me 3500 to 4000.

The whole point is, Obamacare sucks.  Oh how I wish I could get my old healthcare back.   :'(

What if I told you I can get that taken care of for you for nothing and fly you to Hawaii for a week all expenses paid?  Now that's what I call patient priority care.

Btw do you still have both your kidneys?

Not sure you understand what insurance is.  it is meant to be there to cover you out of fear.  Things that you don't know will happen.  That's why it's called insurance.

I'm not fckn kidding

That is just crazy bro. In Dutchland ( texas) its like 150 dollar per month and with that you are fully covered. No one is excluded and everybody is approved. You can not be refused or kicked out. You get the same care as a billionaire, for all its the same. Its illigal to not be health insured.

Bums and unemployed have always been provided medical care in the USA.  If anyone walks into an ER, they get treatment, whether they have insurance or not.  It's always been that way.   ???

I'm talking about having to pay for said treatment.

Single Payer is the only fiscally responsible system that will also actually provide full coverage.

Most people are morons and will never realize that though. They would rather be a cog in the shakedown game and grease the middle mans butthole known as the Private Health Insurance Industry.

Trump has always supported Single Payer.  I am hoping this somehow gets us there because EVERY Healthcare bill that puts the Private Insurance Health Industry as the sole dictators of health outcomes will eventually be an unsustainable disaster.  The Republicans are going to have to learn the hard way I suppose and I predict it will be a bigger disaster than Obamacare in terms of costs overall.

There's no competition in the health insurance industry.  There should be at least five quality health insurers in a state, but usually it's just two or three.  They don't compete any more than Time Warner and Comcast compete.

There should not even be a mandatory "Health Insurance Industry".  Lets move to single payer and then have the "Insurers" compete against that.  Republicans and other morons claim that the Private plans are better so let them support it by choice if they are dumb enough to continue to do so.  Totally fair.

What is this exactly? I know you can do health sharing through different Christian organizations where it still is insurance with lower deductibles/less monthly then Obamacare for the average person. If I didn't get it through work I would do that as they seem to be an affordable option. Or is this for wackos who think they shouldn't go to the hospital/use medicine no matter what?

I pay about 90 bucks a month in health insurance.  High deductible of 5000 and I pay 40 bucks for urgent care and doctor visits however the purpose of having insurance is to cover something catastrophic from happening like surgery or cancer.

Honestly, I wish this country could go to a single payer health system.  It would solve all of this countries problems and everyone would pay....not just a certain group of people.

the problem is the cost.  neither political party addresses this because to point this out puts a spotlight on the real owners of this country.  everything is getting more expensive because the purchasing power of your dollars is being diluted by the Federal Reserve.  In an age of automation, cheap oil and massive increases in efficiency and innovation prices should be going DOWN!   Yet, year after year our money supply is exponentially increased as the Fed chases a magical inflation number.  Since salaries don't keep up at the same pace products and services get more expensive.

It is a much better/affordable option for those who don't have it through work. $150/month for the top package with only a $500 deductible.

???  Guys are talking about $15,000/year.  Wouldn't you rather your employer gave you the $15k/year which you cost them and you choose what to do with your own money?

Maybe there'd even be some left over for health insurance after you afford the across-the-board cost of living increase precipitated by businesses having to charge more to offset a more expensive workforce.

Either way, insurance companies conjured $15k per person into their pocket while life got $15k/year more expensive for you.  Abracadabra.

Health care cost more or less depending on where you're at.  With single payer, we all pay for healthcare in taxes to the state and in return they apply for the healthcare.  By doing that, not only does everyone pay and not just certain people but the state would be in a position to negotiate much better rates with private insurers.  In addition to that, the state would likely require everyone to get preventive care to save money and that keeps cost down and saves lives because its a lot cheaper to treat a disease early on rather than waiting to the last minute and throwing all of your money at the disease in vain to save your life.

Single Payer is what's really needed....but if the GOP passes this bill, my consolation for it will be that I can go back to selling my DMPO plans to people.
