Man, I'm almost without words.  Some of you have been through so much and some are still going through the fire as I type this.

God bless all of you!

Addiction is so powerful and naive folks like myself can't appreciate what some of y'all have experienced.  Would be arrogant of me to presume that I understand it all.

I sincerely pray that the Lord burden your hearts for him and know that regardless of your beliefs deliverance from addiction is possible in him.  Despite my overwhelming ignorance in this thread topic, I can say what I just did with certainty.

Again, I love y'all with a love grounded in Christ and pray that God blesses all of you that are struggling or have struggled with these circumstances.

Me neither.  Never understood the desire to.  Nor do I know any girls 20-30 that take heroin.  I must be strange.

I've never smoked weed either, but I have been around a lot of people who have done lots of drugs. I guess it's because I lived a boring life until I got divorced.

So peer pressure was nothing when I was around it.

No one has ever even tried to press me into doing anything. It just doesn't work like that.

For all you guys on this thread with addiction problems I wish you nothing but the best. I have seen it with my own brother, which indirectly lead to his death 3 years ago....     Stay strong.

I agree that you shouldn't jump off straight to nothing like that. Either lower the dose over time or find a weaker substitute to take the edge off for the interim. There are some OTC medications that help, if you truly have no other recourse. Try loperamide (immodium). Take a high dose of it, like 20-30 pills. Loperamide is an opiate and it will seriously eliminate most WD symptoms in a high enough dose. Most doctors will give you a hard time about prescribing any narcotics if you explain that you are trying to kick the habit, BUT most will prescribe catapress to help. This is a blood pressure drug and it helps because many of the worst WD symptoms are a direct result of the high blood pressure you get while kicking. Other drugs you might have laying around that you didn't know could help are trazadone/remeron/seroquel for sleep, and tramadol is a weaker painkiller that takes most of the edge off as well. Also see if you can get neurontin/gabapentin/lyrica. In a moderate dose this takes care of all symptoms. I'm not suggesting benzos if you are past the acute period.

I'm not saying pick up another habit as alluded to by Raymondo, and note that some of the recommendations I made are still opiates, but nowhere in the league of even vicodin, let alone roxy. The point is weaning yourself off so that you actually stick to it.

30 Immodimum AD a day is helping me through the worst! Thank u so much
