That last pic & this one, remind us how much of it was artificial. Bigger difference than some other guys who are genuinely for real off or on. Nice tennis player look without the roids.

Sheepish grin because he knows it too. ;)
he probably just didnt bother training when off, gave his body a rest, it's pretty much useless at that level to train naturally.

A couple of relaxed shots.  The first one is just unreal.  Looks absolutely perfect in every way

Look how bloated Arnold is in that last pic. Ha ha ha, there is alot of deca in that physique! Go Arnie! He really is the king of bodybuilding! At his best he is untouchable - his nearest rival is Yates 93. Fuck Ronnie. He needs Kramer to put him in his place. Ooops, forgot: Jays already done it :)

Arnold and Sergio are so close, but have very different physiques. You could say Arnold looked smaller than Sergio, but he made that up with superior conditioning and posing style. In a tight battle, you go with who's most conditioned.

A personal fave.
You do realize he's in his sixties, don't you?

Oliva's conditioning at his best was just fine. The only problem is the dearth of pics showing this, from younger years. At his peak he didn't have the better photographers Weider had around Schwarzenegger did, taking copious numbers of good shots. Think about it.

Most see a lot of older pics and make assumptions.

How could there not have been photographs of one of the greatest bodybuilders in his best condition?

He was already out of the Weider loop by the early 70s, just as Draper was. After which time they were featured only occasionally in lesser mags like Muscle Training, Lurie's mag. Those shots are few and far between.

How many gym & training shots have you seen of Oliva from the early-mid 70s? The kind of Schwarzenegger gym shots that were featured each month in Weider's mag and are now common online?

Big difference in photo quality & quantity.

He was 29 when he made Pumping Iron in 1975.  That would make him 60. Do the math. Does everyone expect him to be fully jacked at that age. The man has had a stellar career in bbdg, acting and now he's a governer. I highly doubt he has time to piss let alone train.

Born in '47, pic taken late 90s during a long movie career filled with plenty of idle time to train in a huge trailer brought to movie sets filled with his own gym equipment. Didn't have a full-time job until becoming governor. Do the math, and cut out the defensiveness. He doesn't have to be perfect to be your hero.

I've never seen Sergio anymore conditioned than Arnold. He had alot of mass, but in the back shots (among others) Arnold was his father.

Let's see some of those pics. I found a couple from the late 70's, and he looks pretty average.

Great shot simply for the crowd's faces.

The crowd's faces are priceless. That was probably after he was crowned Mr. Europe.

Blame it on photo quality if you like, but I've seen many photos that are of the same quality to Arnold's, and it doesn't take an eye doctor to know where the photo quality can't bring out any more 'condition' than what's displayed.

This is one of several photos that appeared in Tomorrow's Man magazine [some claim to be a gay magazine] from the early 60's that was taken by Frank Hollfelder. Enjoy, BayGBM....  ;D

Arnold was 28! It was one of the first things said on Pumping Iron! Pay attention to what the guy that is interviewing Arnold says.
