I admitted to carrying 13-14% bodyfat. That not their main issue. It's the muscles: arms, shoulders, etc... those aint fat! They want me to stop lifting and lose the muscle... got it?

If I had 4% bodyfat, they would still be complaining...

that's the thing with every guy that claims to be 14% bodyfat

the truth is your body fat is probably well into the 20's

everybody seems to underestimate bodyfat

at 14% bodyfat you should still have a slim midsection, vascularity, slim face etc

do you have those qualitites?

are you a beginner trainer?  every beginner mistakes his large weight gain for muscle when in fact it is mostly fat and water weight

Seriously... what can anybody here tell you that you don't know already.

Leads me to the conclusion that you are a showoff.

I just wanted to ask how other dudes handled their parents in similar situations. Not a showoff, just a bit bored, I didn't bring any titty porn with me:)

measurements aren't accurate

i've seen people measured at 15 % bodyfat when they were actually 25%

trust me if you were actually 14% people wouldn't be telling a natural trainer he is too big

Well, "too big" really is a relative thing. My mom, for instance, thinks Brad Pitt is "big" and anything bigger than him is "too big."

I am sure many dudes have had something similar happen with their parents. I have just come home for the first time in over a year. The last time I was here, I was 210 pounds, and my parents thought I was too big. This time around, I weigh 240 and they are going ballistic.

Nonstop questions about whether I am using steroids, endless lectures telling me to slim down and lose the muscle, my arms chest legs and shoulders are too big, how bbing is ruining my physique, how i look disproportionate etc etc...

Now I am carrying around about 14% bodyfat, and I plan on going down to 8-10 in the new year, and I agree with them when they say I oughtta bring that down. It's their anti-bbing stance that annoys me. My mom thinks brad pitt is very muscular, and that all guys should aspire to have that kind of physique. She can't seem to understand that I love lifting heavy weights, and love bodybuilding, and want to compete in the sport when the time is right...

So this thread is where you guys can give me advice on how to deal with the folks and support if you wish, or share similar experiences you may have had...
i'm 232 lbs. and your mom loves me.

I get that too. Even now. Decide it's your life and move on w/o them. They can sometimes be just as detrimental/demotivational as any hater. Love em, just don't base your life on what they want.
the difference is that your parents are criticizing your 52 inch waist and 17 inch arms.

Back to the parents issue.  To me, it's a matter of bullying.  I don't let anyone do it to me anymore.  Try looking at this book: http://www.amazon.com/Bullies-Tyrants-Impossible-People-Joining/dp/1400050111
It really helped me deal with the situation, & made me realize how much of it goes on all the time.

My parents don't bug me, but if they did, the first thing I'd say is, "I would prefer not to discuss this any further."  If they kept on, I would pack my stuff, say goodbye, & drive away.  They would get the message.

Dude, seriously, do you do anything other than post here? Does Ron pay you? Are you independently wealthy? On disability?

I'm baffled.

garreath, do you consider yourself a bodybuilder?
