There are an awful lot of people in bad relationships. Have a look at the couples next time you mix with them. Collectively they don't look happy and many look miserable or trapped. Socially we mate up but our genes tell us to go out and have fun. As far as I am concerned, I think marriage is a great idea for married people. Contracts should be 3 years maximum! Then couples can go their own way if things aren't working out.  Heck, 6 months is a long time if you are living with someone.

If you are trying to get a gal who isn't that keen on you then you are doomed for unhappiness because even if you get her you won't be what she is looking for. The lads roasted instead of toasted hapless Melvin here on Getbig and just about everywhere else he posted on the internet. He needed some status to impress us so he donated to a religious institution and was awarded a PhD in metaphysics. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!

Even if any of that was remotely true, it would certainly be better than a person who complains about athletes using steroids yet used them himself to win his "precious" 1970 Mr Canada title but mysteriously doesn't even remember who he competed against or how many competitors there were.  The only actual IFBB record of him competing is a DEAD LAST PLACE FINISH AT THE AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

You guys have no clue about what is going on. When I was running my gym I sometimes made 'heroes' out of ordinary but interesting blokes just to pass the time. Goodrum is a 'hero' like that. He is the epitome of some guys who go to gyms hoping to transcend themselves into someone important. It seldom happens but in the gym various dudes become regulars and contribute to the atmosphere. We have had awards for guys who bust their guts but remain the same. So far we haven't given a most delusional award but we do have a smoothie award and I have received that a few times just for fun. I usually win the stirrers award in our gym.

There aren't many threads here on Getbig that interest me. This very thread was bumped by someone just to stir the board. I originally posted it a few years ago. I was corrected in the past re 'flotsam'. The great Getbig anonymous unwashed. When I see most Goodrum threads, especially announcements of his latest condition or business venture, it is a must read. Those who have followed Melvin Goodrum's threads over the years know what I am talking about. The guy is a dreamer but not much happens that is significant. Yet Goodrum insists he is an internet legend. Right, but not the way he thinks he is! And therein lies the humour and amusement of this bloke. He is oblivious of how he is perceived on Getbig. Well, he must know....surely any average Joe would know! Yet he keeps posting his plans and they amount to almost nothing. Sure, he has an internet business but who here would buy from Vince G? To all and sundry he is a joke. 240, Onlyme and others have tried to help Melvin in business to no avail. Melvin doesn't listen to advice, he gives it. I mean, two internet diplomas and he is an expert? Come on, no one here takes those credentials seriously. He can't prove by example that he knows much. You've called my house, my office, my hotel room at the Olympia and at my competition.  That's called stalking....there's no libel behind and if you think its libel then I dare you to talk me to court.

The fact is that you're a lonely old elderly man and you are upset because you never did anyting spectacular or significant in bodybuilding and now you lash out at the IFBB and Bob Chick and making the usual excuse of "The establishment is holding me down".  Arnold didn't want you as a friend, Frank Zane didn't even know who you were when I asked him, and there's hardly any records of that Mr Canada title which tells me that it wasn't that prestigious at the time or didn't have any meaning.

The 1970 Mr Canada contest was held in Vancouver. Contrary to what ignoramuses like you and Bob Chick believe there were lots of guys enterred. Walter Milner and John Mikl went on to win the Mr Canada a few years later.

When you have won a national title then consider yourself a peer re physiques. Heck, I would be impressed if you could win an open state title. Heck, even a local novice title would be a big deal in your life.

Both Arnold and Frank visited my place in Manly at my penthouse apartment. Arnold in 1974 and Frank about 1977 or so. Arnold was at my gym in 1974 and 1980. Frank knows who I am and so does Arnold.
