I don't get it  ???. I thought that woman would love to get their hearts romanced and pampered on this particular day? A nice romantic candlelight dinner, a bottle of red, a night of passion, if you life in a warm place you could take a romantic walk in the beach, and yes JAG....chocolate ::) No? Sorry to say, but your male counterparts need a tune-up if they can't take the time to make their lady feel special.

I can understand all the hype associated with Valentines Day, but what I am saying is that it would mean sooooo much more to me if my man did something as romantic on any other absolutely any other day of the year!!  It isnt like my man doesnt want to do I have just "let him off the hook" so to speak so as he doesnt feel pressured into performing on the 14th February ha ha!!  I am a fairly simple girl and it doesnt take much more than a few kind words to make me happy.  To me it is like sending Christmas cards to absolutely everyone in your address book when you havent even bothered to contact them at any other time (shallow).  But having said all that all you ladies and guys that love the 14th February I hope you have a gorgeous nite, I really do mean that.  It just isnt for me is all.

Playboy, it's like this. If a guy ignores you, or takes you for granted 364 days out of the year, having him 'fulfill and obligation' on 1 day out of the year doesn't make it special. It's like some burden he begrudgingly does. Don't get me wrong. If the guy is wonderful, and goes all out to make things special it's appreciated, ...but it's hard to feel romantic when it only comes one day out of the year. We women like to know that we are in his thoughts often, so sending a rose on a day other than Valentine's Day can be very special.

The sad thing is that acts of love have zero value on Valentine's. Be spontaneous when confessing your love.

Which comes to the question...."WHY ARE YOU WITH THIS PERSON?"

If the person is not treating the way you want, 364 days of the year...why be with that person. I wouldn't be. I would sooner be alone than be with that person...

My thinking exactly. Why are they with these men??? I also agree with the ladies in saying that that treatment should happen all year round. In both ways too. Men like to feel special once in a while too  ;)

I think you're right Playboy, it does work both ways... and it's often more fun to please someone than to be pleased. Plus women are often more creative and better at organizing such things. I have a hard time coming up with the "best" valentine, but up there is definitely one of my own doing... called the man at 10:30 a.m. and lured him into meeting me at a certain restaurant for lunch, which wasn't easy as he was busy at work, then when he arrived, brought him instead to the hotel next door where I had booked a suite that morning.  We only had forty-five minutes...  the rest of the afternoon I kept hearing "what the hell happened to your hair?" By 5:30 p.m. we were both weaving in and out of traffic like crazy people, racing to get back there. (Just in case you're strapped for ideas this year guys, that was a good one.)

Probably the biggest downside to Valentine's Day for women is that at some point, some year, you're bound to receive a purple and red lingerie item.  :-X

Buff, when is your show?
April 21st in Bellevue Washington. The Emerald Cup is my warm-up show...I didn't want to do it because I wanted more time off to get fat (ha ha) but my trainer is insisting. Then I have the USA in Vegas in July. My last one for the year will be the IFBB North American or Nationals.

I do but I am a figure competitor.  Used to be an under 52kg bodybuilder but I like the shoes and sparkly bits ha ha!!  I do miss my more muscle days though and the heavy training.

Forbidden, I'm with you.  Getting something when it is unexpected is so much more fun and exciting than having the expectations (and disappointments) that you are suppose to get something on Valentine's Day (it doesn't matter if you are male or female).  Sometimes my boyfriend will surprise me with flowers waiting for me on my kitchen table when I come home from work, or if it is summer, he will cut the grass for me, or rake the leaves in the Fall or shovel the snow off my driveway or sidewalk in Winter.  That means more to me than anything.  We may exchange cards on VD but we have a pact - no presents.

Yeah it is so silly really, the whole valentine's day thing.  I am getting my legs waxed on valentines day ha ha lol.  That is exciting for me lol and painful.

Crikey, it seems I compete all the time, though not bodybuildingly...

I love St Valentine's Day, it's on the 14th and my birthday is on the 21st, one week later.

...so I send out lots of cards and get hundreds in return.

Roses are red
violets are blue
i wanna
make love with you...

and that's how come most of us don't exactly care about the next big dateline in the frigging calendar which comes up in the Christian calendar.  It's a 45-day Hindu festi at the moment.

to be honest, tonight is more important.

...tonight is a new moon which is void till the early hours, which is a great new moon.

& the chinese new year is Feb 17-18 or something...
