Forbidden, I'm with you. Getting something when it is unexpected is so much more fun and exciting than having the expectations (and disappointments) that you are suppose to get something on Valentine's Day (it doesn't matter if you are male or female). Sometimes my boyfriend will surprise me with flowers waiting for me on my kitchen table when I come home from work, or if it is summer, he will cut the grass for me, or rake the leaves in the Fall or shovel the snow off my driveway or sidewalk in Winter. That means more to me than anything. We may exchange cards on VD but we have a pact - no presents.
