Anyone who claims there is no global warming seriously does not know what they are talking about. There is abundant evidence for it in many places. Warming of the seas, rising sea levels, melting of the polar ice caps, melting glaciers, satellite imagery showing the melting that has occurred from trapped greenhouse gases, spring coming on average three weeks earlier, drying rivers, vastly increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere since the start of fossil fuel burning, bleaching of coral reefs, warming of the troposphere, and more frequent and severe el ninos.

Part of the warming is caused by one big loop. Fossil fuels have warmed the lower layer of the atmosphere causing melting ice which reduces the albedo effect (the amount of light reflected back into space),and warms the earth even more. Another factor has been the large scale reduction of forests which absorb CO2. Less forests means less CO2 absorbed by plants-thereby causing more to be released into the atmosphere warming the earth even more.

Even if we totally stopped all C02 emissions as of today..the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere already will continue to warm the earth long after we're gone. These emissions and severe changes in C02 composition since the time of the industrial revolution have been observed and noted. They are not up for debate.

The evidence is all around. Nothing so great as the power of denial.

Sounds pretty wacky to me. The thing is..There is no doubt the earth has been subject to warming and cooling in the past. In fact, the earth has had several ice ages. However, scientists can tell exactly how much C02 was in the air at certain times in the past by studying ice cores. They drill down miles deep and examine these cores to determine this because ice, I guess,traps in the particles. It's kind of like examining tree rings but much better because you can go way back in time. The difference in gigatons between what's in the atmosphere now compared to what we had in the past is astounding. Certain parts of the earth only became habitable to humans about 12,000 years ago..Which is why for most of humanity's past humans were confined to really small areas in Africa. Gradually as sea levels dropped and certain areas warmed people were able to branch out to other areas.

I don't know if there's a human way to counteract what's been done..Part of the problem is it can take thousands of years for the upper warming layers of ocean to sink to their deepest depths. In fact, they say the ocean now is basically derived from the 1970s..So, in the future it's going to warm up quite a bit. The warming will cause water expansion raising sea levels. Melting glaciers will also raise these sea levels. So, I'd say a lot of coastal cities will have to be moved inward in the future at a major cost. It will be interesting for future peoples..that's for sure.

That was in Gore's movie. They can go back 650,000 years by studying C02 trapped in ice. The levels now are the highest in those 650,000 years. Gore made a big deal of this in the movie. However, you tell me, what percentage of earth's age is 650,000 years out of 4.6 billion?

I never did see Gore's movie but it sounds like they did some research. It's true that for most of earth's history humans couldn't have lived here. This may be true in the future regardless of human efforts. Most of the life we see today is relatively new because much was killed off in the great cataclysmic event 65 million years ago. Think dinosaurs. What is not up for debate, though, is the drastic change in atmospheric composition since the start of industrial history. Sadly enough, humans are still using 1800s technology (coal powered plants) to fuel electricity. Coal is about the worst pollutant you could ever use to power an economy. In our century natural gas will be the fossil fuel of choice. Not the best either, but better than coal and oil.

pollutions is messing up our environment,, but do you guys know how big our atmopshere is? the atmosphere as in everything in nature, can repair itself anyways-ask any scientist. even if pollution did cause problems we wont see it in a thousand years.. i've never seen a real study saying that pollution has caused global warming.. what i have seen is that were nearing the peak of a warm cycle,, guess whats comming next,, the bigger problem we got is that half of north america may be coverd in ice in a few hundred years..

If you believe man is affecting the environment, vote for a party which wants to limit pollution, require standards, and investigate it.

if you believe man has zero influence on it, vote for a party which doesn't want to do anything about these things.


It ain't rocket science.  We may or may not be causing it.  But there's no denying the waters are rising, the weather is changing, and that crazy shit people predicted a few years back is actually happening.

Global Warming is mostly junk science. The Earth's climate is incredibly complex, and many mechanisms of climate change are only poorly understood. I actually read an article by a German climatologist who debunked the methodology used to determine global mean surface temperatures. It seems to me that Global Warming is mostly just a cash cow for climatologists to attract research funding from the government. The actual science behind it is far from rock-solid.

What a lot of people don't realize is that there was a similar hype over "Global Cooling" during the 1970's. The whole thing turned out to be bullshit. Why should Global Warming be any different?

Tell that to the people in Colorado !!!!! The worst winter on record. Record Snowfall and livestock dying all over the place. There is no scientific evidence of Global warming. The earth simply goes through different warming and cooling periods. It is just a matter of where you live in the country. I'm glad it's 70 degrees in New York. But anyone who has lived there for years will tell you that, it can be 70 one day and 10 below 0 the next. The winter is not over yet my friend.

Global warming is responsible for the warm temp is the east and the record snowfalls in Colorado.
