Good thread.  One of my favorites:

"The other team's quarterback must go down.  And he must go down hard."

(2) Namath to Susie Kolber on national TV, drunk, saying "I want to kiss you."

That may be the funniest for sure.  I can hear it over and over in that commercial with that Mickey Mouse voice of his.

Yep.

From Jerry Glanville when he was in the NFL, to an official during a game:

"The NFL stands for 'Not For Long' if you keep making calls like that!"

Johan Cruijff - Was one of the best soccer player evers. His best stuff is in dutch so it's hard to translate it.

Actually I never make a mistake, because it takes a huge effort for me to make a mistake.

Soccer is simple, but it is difficult to play simple.

Sometimes something's got to happen before something is going to happen.

Italians can't win the game against you, but you can lose the game against the Italians.

"I don't want to be a thief of my own wallet" on moving from Ajax Amsterdam to Barcelona.

Theismann's one of the best analysts, there aren't many good ones. Almost all of today's announcers are useless whereas he adds a lot. However, this is a classic from long ago:

"You don't have to be a genius, someone like John Einstein, to understand football."

I think maybe his dad appreciates it more. Being the son of a Hall of Famer and playing th same position at the university might make you a bit ungrateful.
