At the time I did 500 for 1, I did about 55 really quick reps with 220 (100kg), with a bit of a bounce on the last few. Maybe 40 real clean reps.
hahahahaha, another internet 500 pound bencher. ::)

no number of reps with 225 equate to a 500lbs bench, I've only seen like 2 guys in my entire life put up 500 and they were beasts.

lol....actually bench shirt doesn't make you stronger. it assist you with the poundages. I don't think the world class benchers who use shirts are lazy at all. If you've been to a competition, it'll make more sense to you

You personally must have never benched 225.  If you can bench 225 25-30 times you can press 405 pretty easy.  Moron!

i've never seen it, the last time i did reps with 225 i got 24 and i can only bench a very, very hard 380, every other guy who did comparable reps with 225 did almost the same as me.

Personally I am on the same page as you 23 reps is my most with my max being 375.  But I personally work out with a guy who benches 30 rep max w/225 and has a 435 max bench.  It is different for everyone.

I know jeramy freeman can bench 500 for about 10 reps.

he told me he could get 225 for around 70-80 reps if he trained for it.

he got like 54 reps at the gakic contest....he strained his pec on rep 15 but kept going.....he had to stop before muscular failure

Toney Freeman also had the worst form out of anyone there. I can't believe they let him away with it. Most people could probably do it his way.
just push some weight!

Differentiate between the two, please.  Because it sounds like you're saying that you can bench as much without as with the shirt.  I'm not criticizing, but there's NO WAY that 500 raw = 500 with a shirt.

I don't see how anyone could equate muscle stamina to strength when it comes to maximum output. There are two kinds of strong. Total weight and muscular endurace. You can get a lean guy that can curl bench press 225 all day long but put him under 500 and he'll choke. I'd say try getting 500 off the bar before you ever consider even trying to press it. BIG difference. Just ask your body when you crush your cage.

Bench shirt is like having someone help you with the lift, the force you get from the bottom is extreme. I've only used single ply as I'm competing in the IPF. IF you use double ply I cant imagine the force you get.

How many presses on "3" on the Nautalis machine equals 500 pounds?

This is one of the dumbest arguments I've seen in a while...there is NO equation of reps=max rep.

This would be like a sprinter taking his time in the 100 meters, and trying to translate it into how fast he would run the mile....

depends on the shirt. a denim or similar stiff material shirt relies on your own body compression and then aids in the "throw" off the chest. the stretchier types give you more of a spring. and it's all pretty moot unless you have spot-on form and a strong lockout. i've seen a few guys put on tight-ass two ply shirts and be unable to touch their chests, then not be able to move the weight back up either.

u can't really compare the 2 lifts.  2 totally different muscle fibers and energy systems are required for a high rep bench and a single.
