I see we have an audience so I should try to educate you lads about reality.

You should all try to use your own minds and eliminate as much rubbish re what you believe. You could start with your beliefs about fat people. Obesity is a complex problem and not easy to reverse. I know bodybuilders tend to be simpleminded about obesity. They believe it is easy to reverse and you just have to watch what you eat and get active. Well, that is easier said than done. If you are a personal trainer or gym owner you know it is not easy to get results in obese people.

If you actually talk to these fat people you might be surprised at what they know and what they have done in the past but to little or no avail. Most have energy efficient systems and store fat instead of using it up. That would have been an advantage hundreds or thousands of years ago. Today it is not an advantage if you live in countries where there is plenty of resources for everyone. The Western lifestyle doesn't need as many calories as it used to. We drive in cars and go up escalators etc. Even if we go to gyms that is usually not enough activity. We have so many restaurants and fast food outlets that sell cheap, yummy food. Supermarkets have so many choices and it is easy to take home some food that might contain too many calories.

The curious thing is that the body doesn't seem to tell us how much food to eat. We get hungry so eat and many might eat just a bit more than they need and over many years this adds up to many pounds. Given enough time most people living in America will be fat.

I think bodybuilders have a duty to help others with their fitness and body composition goals. That way we spread our knowledge around. In the meantime I think most here should do some reading in obesity and try to comprehend what it is all about. You might think you know a thing or two about muscles but you obviously know very little about fat, hunger and obesity.

If more people were informed we might have intelligent debates instead of a free for all targetting fat people.

Donkey, don't be an ass.

Let me tell you a story. Arthur Jones used to build Nautilus equipment. When he was starting out sometimes he would send photos of his equipment to clients who wanted to see what they were getting. I think some clients wanted to see more details of how they worked. He found out that some of those people made copies of his equipment. He told Ray Mentzer, "The next man who copies my equipment is a dead man!" That sounded pretty funny to me. So I borrowed that saying and some of you saps fell for it. That is reverse owning to be sure.

Guilty by association IMO. Not only is he a supporter. He may well be considered a serious terrorist, a threat to national security.

Eg, if he walks the streets: Are the streets safe? Are they built to hold that weight?

Could he be trusted on a regular road?

I went to McDonald's last night for the first time since Sept and got a dry chicken sandwich, a regular hamburger and a diet coke. Somewhat reasonable, I thought. One of the fatest bitches I've ever seen driving a car, (who could barely fit in her Cavalier), pulled up in front of me and ordered first. When I got to the drive through speaker, her order was still on the screen:

- 4 double cheeseburgers
- 1 McChicken sandwich
- 1 supersize fries
- 1 supersize coke
- 2 apple pies (they're 2 for a $1!!  :) )

Sure I wanted a spicy chicken sandwich, fries, maybe a quarterpounder or 2, and dessert. But I didn't. Vince, what's the difference between me and her? Complex obesity "issues", or lack of willpower?

My mom was always slim, and after years of repeated back injuries in her career as a nurse, she suffers from degenerative disk disease.  She is in chronic debilitating pain 24-7.  The only pills that ease her pain enough to allow her to be able to, say, take a shower and drive a car, increase her appetite.  Add to the fact that she quit smoking after 30 years (yay) and then tack menopause onto that, and you have a problem.  She can't work out.  She can barely walk.  Her back problems spread to her neck and hips.  After so many years of being unable to move around a lot, she now has osteoporosis.  Due to the many years of high stress at her job, and other factors, she now has Crohn's and colitis and Type-2 Diabetes (she was never a big sweet-eater and always had low blood sugar).  So yeah, she's fat.  Her metabolism is at a crawl and that's just the way it is.  Some of the medicine she's on for her Crohn's makes her feel as though needles are being driven into her feet - so it's even harder to walk.  So when someone says "there's no reason for being fat, other than being a lazy piece of shit," I think of the time my mother, being a nurse, pulled a 3-year old boy out of the Hudson River, who had been under at LEAST 8 minutes, and brought him back to life after doing CPR for 15 minutes.  The kid had NO brain damage, and he was DEAD.  So her being a nurse has saved more than one life.  So yeah, she's overweight, and she's also my fucking hero and she's beautiful.  So maybe you should think before you write.

Good point but unfortunately, people like her are probably less than 2% of the total overweight population who got that way by ordering extra cheese and not thinking twice of it.

I work in healthcare too and I see more people in this industry who make eating choices out of convenience than anything else when a few minutes of extra planning can mean a big difference between having to grab Burger King or having a couple cans of tuna and some natural peanut butter. In a high-stress job its even that much more important.

I agree with you Vince, but the majority of fat people are ignorant.

You simply cannot biochemically sustain an extra 100-300 lbs on a "healthy calorie restricted" diet.

"Fat acceptance groups" preaching that it's "ok" to be fat make things worse in terms of health and impact on society.

Sorry to hear about you mother's health problems. I'm willing to be she was on prednisone for her inflammatory bowel disease - this will add a lot of fat + water and increase appetite tremendously.

Her case is different. But the typical obese American is lazy.

There must be lots of guys here who have fat mums, girlfriends and friends. All that hate is misguided and merely internet stirring. The truth is those who make fun of fat people are lame. It has never been okay to do that and comedians who do so are as pathetic as the knuckleheads posting in this forum.

1 in 3 Americans are obese. Another 1/3 are overweight. So, get used to living with fat people. The mum who got fat because she had health problems is but one example of obesity not associated with laziness and will-power. Most fat people have more will-power than so-called bodybuilders.

If we are talking about density I estimate that bodybuilders, collectively, are at the bottom of the intelligence scale of populations. This forum is evidence of that. The few educated heroes do not compensate for the vast ignorant army of thickheads lifting weights.

.

No they do not. Stop lying to yourself and others.

They are fat, thus they can not apply their willpower and intelligence to solve a problem that puts a huge burden on their life. If they could, they would be slim.

99% of fat fucks lack will power. They deserve the fatcentration camp.

picking on fat adults is one thing but when adults pick on fat children that's when a line has to be drawn, no one should make fun of kids.
