newbie has cardio question
« on: March 17, 2007, 09:16:11 AM »
here's my first post on getbig, hopefully it will give you all some background:

http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=134921.0

I just finished doing 30 minutes of cardio. I got my heart rate up to 172. I used the cardio program on the treadmill. The peak is a level 6.5 speed, I presume it's the built in "interval" program on the machine. Forgive me if this sound weak, people have recommended doing HIIT. How exactly do I design a HITT program. Someone recommended: sprints for a minute, then walk for 1, sprint for 1, walk for 1 ,for 20 minutes.

Someone else said do 45 minutes in the morning,  before that take an aspirin and caffeine.

Kinda confused...

It's HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training.  There's many ways of doing it, that's why you've seen various recommendations.

interval training is awesome, i do not think i ever did 20 mins, for me it was usually 1 min sprint and 2-3 mins of jogging, 3 to 4 intervals like this and you're done.  props on your weight loss, btw.  awesome transformation.

Here's the original article written by Shawn Phillips in the old Muscle Media...

thanks triple_pickle! I'm only in the first phase, I still have a ways to go. It definitely feels good to be at a normal body weight tho.

Who told you about the cafeine and aspirin?

You should kick him in the face cause it's dangerous to take that combination in the morning.
