Let me set the record straight about Orville
-not a nice guy at all
-borrowed lots of money from training partners and friends and conveniently forgot about it
-had one of the guys mentioned by Special Ed drive him to and from the gym every day for months, train with him for the O, only to never   even thank him
-got kicked out of more than one gym for being rude to paying members
-left his tiny 1 BR apt only to train and go to church, otherwise played video games and read comics all day
-married Kiki only because she promised to take care of him financially
-moved to NJ after his surgery and never fully recovered
-asked the former owners of Steel Gym to pay all his travel expenses going to the O and never mentioned the gym in an interview or thanked the owners
-did the same thing to the owner of Hardcore Fitness when competing as an amateur

There was a thread about Orville about a month ago over at MD. Had some information that usually doesn't show up on boards, might want to go check it out.

Steve Namat, what proof do you want? Just do your research and talk to people in the know.
It's mindbogling to me, how ignorant some people are when it comes to the pro's. Trust me, there are a lot more out there who live day by day and are as lazy as Orville was.
What goes around, comes around. Ever heard that saying? That's what happened to Orville.

OK, I know what you mean.

But for example I came from a small county where I was the #1 bodybuilder and I heard all the stories about myself... When you are on the the top or near the top in something (somewhere) then the stories are coming from everywhere...

i wonder if prince even enter a public gym these days with sleevless shirt or t shirt and not a big baggy tommy xxl  long and warm wintery made of towel material shirt typa thing ;)

take it from a pro,,its the worst feeling of the day to enter a gym and see someone that is more muscular and cut and/or bigger  than you,, wether its a pro or just a joe shmoe,,especially when your life is bodybuilding,,

now think about thomas,,in getbig famous words he must be owened countless times by every day gym rats on a weekly basis :D

then again he probably "trains" in his home gym,,that he built because he couldnt stand the "toxic" number of people in the gym :D,,too many people take the equipment away from him,,it hurts the intensity! :D

gotta love prince ;)
good boy,,,,,,NOT!

I love how GH15's English actually used to be better and has gotten WORSE over the years. Should it not have been the other way around?  ::)

Orville did work for the Trump Org. as a security guard for a few years, but I believe he was one of several security guards who worked at the Trump HQ on 5th Avenue at the front desk and lobby area. From my conversations with Orville, I do not believe he was part of Trump's personal security detail. It is extremely doubtful that this security position provides any financial benefit today.

Orville trained at several gyms in Brooklyn and Manhattan, including Steel Gym on 23rd, Hardcore downtown, 5th Avenue Gym in Brooklyn, and Golds in Brooklyn Heights. Other notable Brooklyn Heights Gold's Gym patrons: Nick Lachey, Beyonce Knowles, and Special Ed.

Orville was a quiet guy and very private. When he told friends that he was gonna win the Night of Champions in 2001 and someone (me) posted that online, Orville got very upset.

Orville was married to a very nice professional (non-industry) woman. She worked full-time and was very $upportive of Orville.

When I hung out with him in 2001, he told me his contract with Iron-Tek was paying him $12,000 PER YEAR. At the time Iron-Tek was owned/controlled by Steve Weinberger. Orville could have gotten much more money from another company but he was loyal to Steve. In May, 2001, Orville won the Night of Champions ($15,000). He surprised many people by taking 6th at the Olympia that year ($25,000). He never parlayed his placings into a meaningful or lucrative endorsement contract. 2001 was by far his most lucrative year as a Pro in terms of contest earnings. In 2002, he only competed once and took 9th at the Olympia.

Orville used to use Victor Munoz as his contest-prep/trainer/guru. During the taping of Battle for the Olympia 2000, Victor wanted Orville to give him a "plug" as his trainer and asked Orville to do this to help Victor's PT business and reputation. Orville refused, stating that he felt it would look amateurish for a 'Pro' to admit to having a 'trainer'. After that Victor no longer worked with Orville. I liked Victor and his training methods a lot and he went on to help Victor Martinez and Wong Hong get their pro cards and achieve great results.

I lost touch with Orville sometime in 2002. People who would know more about him would be Weinberger, Victor Munoz, Victor Martinez, NPC National contender Kert McLean, who also trained at Gold's at that time and was in the loop, and former NPC National contender Ron Brown who trained at Steel but knows everything about everyone.

Special "The Source" Ed

Great info!!!  If not for Special Ed, I would be serving time in PRISON as we speak.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing but was too ashamed to admit it. I'm not into comics but there is a hell of a lot of books I have on my list that I'd like to read if I had the free time.

sounds like you knew him very well. I failed to mention him being an asshole because my mother always said not to speak ill of the dead. Desmond Miller reminds me a lot of Orville in terms of his delusions, his arrogance, his Caribbean heritage and his massive laZiness, relying on his wife to hold down a job while he hones his Xbox skillz.

All you need to know about Orville is the Munoz story. Victor is a decent guy who was helping Orville for free. All he asked in return was for a simple plug in the BTFO video and Orville wouldn't do it. My dealings with the Burkes revealed a very paranoid and self absorbed couple convinced that everyone was screwing them over, which I've since learned is a common trait in those who themselves are not to be trusted.

Namat, don't everkid yourself into believing you can make a living or career out of pro bodybuilding without spending significant time at Weinberger's Powerhouse Gym paying tribute to Steve. From Orville to Victor Martinez to Kevin English to new pro Jeff Long, the road to Success for any non magazine guy goes through Steve. Find a good steady job and don't give it up for the $4,000 show money at the Olympia

Wasn't he working for Trump Towers--Security and he was getting a decent paycheck? So he could afford a car, rides, etc...or are they not paid well?

I imagine he was paid pretty well.  It may be difficult to make a lot of money but it is not difficult to spend a lot of money.  Perhaps he was a big spender?

Special Ed = true getbig millionaire [even though he is humble and to my knowledge has not said this].

True, he seemed kinda cheap though, something about his upbringing in Jamaica...saw a pic of him with Don Turmp in Flex one time. From what I read it seemed like he was doing well with his job...his wife looked kinda rundown though (meaning way older than him)...maybe truth to him sponging off of her.

It's possible.  I don't think everyone in this thread is lying.  He came across as a nice guy in the BFTO 2000 DVD but then again, it's not hard to put on a nice front for a short segment.  Still too bad what happened to him.  I was looking forward to him giving Ronnie a run for his money although looking back, I don't think that would have happened.  Still, great size and shape.  2001 was a great year for him.

i don't think he really could have given Ronnie a run...Orville had that thick skin look, like Vic Richards. The fact that he had high lats and a very small waist gave the illusion that he was wide mofo and big as hell. I don't think he really could have improved much, wasn't he already in his 40's?

He urinated and defecated on his bedsheets when he came out of his coma. The nursing staff had to clean him up.

I've done that more than a few times after a night spent drinking rum.

It's nothing to be ashamed of.

well now there is some doubt about it..........but yes, 5 or so years ago, he was a man with muscles. No doubt about it at that time.
