I know it's been on for a while but I never watched it, just cause it seemed so retarded...anyway, saw it for the 1st time last night real late...couldn't sleep, so had to do something, Lol!

I've never had Elk but Deer is some the the best meat i've ever had when cooked right. very good for you as well.

i give 2 or 3 Doe to charity every Thanksgiving.

Looked up the nutritional value of GAME Elk.

Higher in fat ~8g for 4 oz. and 26 g. protein with ZERO carbs. Probably more dark meat I bet....

Yes, I've had it plenty of times...not in years but growing up yes I ate it...it's the law in TN lol!

But the stuff is not that tasty IMO. It's similar to beef, at least that's the closest similarity, but it's much much tougher then beef....kind of stringy, chewy...not all that great IMO. No, not gross or nasty, but if I had a choice between a deer steak and a beef steak, there is no way on God's green earth I'd pick the deer steak.

Maybe it's more of the idea of just eating what you killed...kind of an extra satisfaction out of that...maybe.

Not to start the whole insanity about hunting that we had on here a while back...remember that, lol! But I grew up hunting, had my first gun at 8yrs old...just a single shot 4/10 but I loved it lol! Anyway, I grew up hunting everything in site...and if I wasn't hunting, there was a good chance I was still shooting something, stray dogs/cats birds just to shoot them etc.

OK, so my point, in retrospect, this was idiotic...nothing wrong with hunting IMO, but just shooting everything in site for no reason, pretty gay and I know I'm not the only one on here that's done/does/did this.

Anyway, I don't hunt anymore...haven't in years....prob at lest 6 or 7. Honestly, if I was to go deer hunting right now I don't know if I could do it anymore...getting soft in my old age, lol! OK, not too soft, I'd still have no problem shooting someone point blank in the face if they broke into my house,.

It wasn't cooked right if it was chewy. it's tough and stringy by nature but it's only chewy when over cooked, most people over cook the hell out of deer meat, that's called jerky...

Try cooking it SLOW and keep pouring the marinade on it every 5 minutes. i like to bake it in a marinade.

The best way to cook deer is in a stew. i make a venison stew that is identical to beef stew, in fact most people can't tell they are eating deer...fooled a few girlfriends that way...

I'll take a steak over deer any day of the week but i enjoy deer a few times a month. most people don't care for it.

Deer and varmint hunting is part of the landscape where i live...but we don't need to go over that again...

I eat everything i shoot but coyote isn't very good...
