i actually did shake his hand in 2004, he has a strong handshake...whats your point? ronnie is a multi olympia title holder...he wears gloves...he does half reps...he has a treadmill next to his bed...so what....

youre comparing one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time to 175lb girls in the gym...there is no comparison.

my point was that gloves will only give u a better gripp on pulling movements, thats how i feel ,u might have a diffrent opinion, its alright ;)

LOL there is one guy at my gym that does this...He said because he uses thumbless grip on those, he thinks the straps add some 'grip' to the bar....

well i use gloves on trainning back i admit. My hands used to sweat a lot, and besides the fact that it prevents you to loose your grip on the bar, it makes a lot less painfull on exercises like deadlifts. On a side note, never saw chalk or anything like that in any gym here in Brazil...

on a second side note, i guess that Ronnie is silly to wear gloves AND straps to do deadlifts giving the fact he is a Pro and should always show how he is 'hardcore'  ::)

Using gloves will actually make your grip a little stronger outside of the gym but wearing them you have a weaker grip. It is equivalent to holding on to a bigger bar.  You won't be able to pull as much weight with thicker bars.

I started using gloves when I got a small metal shaving from a bar stuck in my hand.  It's still there.

Only acceptable answer yet.

Also, Ronnie and the gang where NAME BRAND gloves, straps, wrist wraps....they are usually paid to do so, especially in photo shoots.

I've actually used straps when DB Pressing (commented on earlier).  Weird I know but they really took some pressure off my bum wrist, more so than wrist wraps.

Who cares if you wear gloves?  I wear them, and when I am done working out, I wear them the rest of the day just so people know I workout!

I feel totally badass in gloves.  I wear ones with the thumb cut out and the other four fingers cut off just before the second knuckle.  Sometimes I dip 'em in broken glass and shadow box, until the gym manager comes over and makes me quit.  I'd hit him, but he's kinda tall.
Everyone is fair game.

I want to know what hte point of wearing gloves in the gym is unless you've got super sensitive hands...

If you ever had to use your grip or muscles to do any sort of heavy lifting or movements...are you going to whip your gloves out of your purse or just walk around with them on?

If it's because your girl bitches about your calluses...tell her to stfu.

U must been reading lot of ANIMAL PAK ads lately, I really feel sorry for u,.

I'm new to this board, so no disrespect to anybody, but who cares what anybody else around you is wearing, I could care less about what kind of gloves some dude is wearing and what exercise he is doing while wearing them, the only thing I am focused on is what I'm training and getting the best possible workout I can each day. Call me crazy, but I just don't pay attention to this crap.
