I do know Ben and Joe but not your reference to any connection with Mr Hunter.

Regarding young and upcoming stars of today ......  Amanda Bynes and Freddie Highmore are on top of my expectation list as well Channing Tatum providing he gets a great role within the next 12 months.

SOrry, Steel, I can only get ya a Toofer in Las Vegas. Get here and I'll get ya as many as I can providing I don't use them first. In that case, how about a couple of free pulls on an $11,000,000 slot machine. So far, I've won $32 on that one and it only took me six free pulls.  You old enough to enter a casino?

If so, maybe a Toofer at the Cherry Patch.

I'm sure that Tommy Wishbone will vouch for that one.

OK, Big, since you are "jaded", you can't read this no more! What does that mean anyway? You Chinese descent or what?

I dont know what kind of gyms you ve trained at onlyme but i go to a gym in west london which is run by mark cullimore the most succesful british powerlifter ever before andy bolton and there are 3 british champs and 2 strongmen and olympic lifters like Delroy Mcqueen a commonwealth games gold medalist, that train here and none of them can do the lifts you claim are common as shit where you train. Andy Bolton has been in to train too but never when ive been there.
Also why is it whenever someones mentioned you know what they lift!?!I asked a long time ago what Mike Tyson might be able to lift, of course you said you d seen him or your friend had seen him squatting 2 plates a side explosively and that he struggles with 315 on the bench.

Stuntmovie:  What do you do in the entertainment industry?

Squadfather:  You sound excatly like a stalker scenario; stalker becomes enamored with his victim, the victim does not reciprocate the stalker's love, and the stalker turns violent.   Not too long ago you used to talk about how Onlyme was awesome. Then he called you "fat", and a "Loser"....and look how many threads you've started.   Is your heart broken?  Did the Lay's potato chips not fill that void?  Keep lifting, you're looking shredded!

Not sure what you are saying.  Sounds like you are admitting Americans are stronger than you guys in a gym.  I think we all knew that, but why bring it up here.  By the way please show me where I said it was common.  Guys benching 405 here for reps is very common.  I would just about say every major gym here has a couple of those at least in them.  Maybe you guys should come to Hawaii and train here.  And the Tyson reference you have all fucked up like the rest of your post.  I never said I saw Tyson train.  I said my friend was training him at the Grand Waialea.  He said mike had a hard time benching his bodyweight.  but he has strong legs but ran out of gas fast.  He said Mike rad at least 5 miles just before coming into the gym and that might be why he was weaker all the time.  DUde if you are going to attempt to discredit me at least get some things right.  God do I have to treat you like I treat Squad.

If this is the case, then Hawaii surely has the strongest benchpressers in the world, much stronger than anywhere else.

The funny thing is, that I don't see Hawaii lifters dominate the benchpress competition scene.

Do you have any idea why that is, onlyme?

Really, see what team wins at the big show in Texas.  Look in the record books at how many Hawaiians are in there past included.  And are you telling me because a guy can do reps with 405 he should be dominating bench press competitions.  Just wondering if that is your logic.  I hope not.  If it is maybe you should stop while you are ahead.  There are plenty guys who are great benchers who don't compete.  Instead of trying to prove me wrong which you won't, sell your car and take a trip to Hawaii for a couple weeks and go to the gyms.  Then you can come back on here and apologize to me publicly.  Tell then believe me there are allot of guys who rep with 405.

Keith, tell them about Paula Suzuki Kaiser. She can outbench 95% of us GetBig members. She and John are doing a contest there now.

Big, I met Debbie Rynolds only once in LV when she owned a small casino/hotel on the side street leading to the Convention Center. If I recall right she was in the process of selling it to he WWF but the sale fell through for reasons unknown to me. She was talking to Rip Taylor at the time. I was invited on the set of How the West Was Won while she was filming, but once again I was in another part of the world. Met Rip (Rep?) many times on Waikiki Beach and once at the oldest restaurant on Hollywood Blvd. Name that restaurant.

Big, wasn't Imitation of Life with Lana Turner and Sandra Dee? I hate to cause Squad a hemmorage but I did meet and speak with Sandra Dee in her prime. Kim Novak too. She thought I was a real cool kid. And Joe Dimaggio and Dominic (his bro), but Marilyn Dimaggio was not at home at the Beach Street residence in San Francisco when I stopped by one afternoon. She was making a movie in La-La Land.

No, Big, I'm not really in the entertainment business but my family is and once in a while I get a call to get my ass on one set or another to do something semi-important - Stunt coordinator or assisting with some of the major special effects you might have seen. Latest was the Silver Surfer. Some of my family members are big time in the business (NY and Hollywood) and one in particular has been continually busy since The Grinch Who Stold Christmas. Once in a while I'll visit a set and make myself useful whenever possible. I've only worked in front of a camera once as a kid in Pal Joey with Kim Novak and Frank Sinatra and I screwed one scene up a bit that required a couple of retakes. Funny screwups at the time but it cost them lots of money.

My best bud in the Corps was one of the originators of the Stuntmen's organizations back in the 60's. He  and his first wife got married in that old tank you still can see in the Universal parking lot as a publicity stunt for the studio. They got married underwater wearing wet suits made to look like a tuxedo and a wedding dress. I was supposed to be the best man but I was in some war someplace and coudn't break away. Jack passed away while filming a scene for The Sword and the Sorceror jumping off a cliff in the Topanga Canyon someplace. At the end credits they dedicate the film to Jack Tyree - A Recon Marine. (Rah!!) and they actually used his death scene in the final cut. In the original he gave the Recon Yell and it stayed that way for years. I've heard they cut it later on. I've never been able to find a copy of that film.

That Hollywood restaurant that I mentioned above is Musso and Frank's and you can meet a lot of old time stars there if you are really interested in doing so. Or try The Grill off Rodeo Drive at lunch when and where some major Hollywood contracts are signed, sealed, or delivered. If you see Keith in one of these places, he likes Key Lime Pie.

Oh yea, gotta mention that Steve Reeves stopped at Bockbuster and purchased a copy of Hercules while I sat in the limo. When he came out he autographed it and gave it me as his way of saying thanks.

And Tony Curtis autographed a copy of Some Like It Hot for me many years ago. He said  that they had a BLAST making that movie and had a hard time getting through the scenes because everyone was laughing so much.

And last but not least, I drove a major star to his first interview which got him started in the business.

Fun times with very interesting and talented people. And Keith just so happens to be one of them. No bullshit in that respect.

Really, see what team wins at the big show in Texas.
Sorry, I don't know about any "big show" in Texas.

The Benchpress World Championship changes venue from year to year, this year it was held in Thisted, Denmark, eg.

Look in the record books at how many Hawaiians are in there past included.

Currently, USA has got two world record holders in benchpress: Christina Newman and Deborah Ferrell. None in the men's.

BTW, I am not sure if Anthony Clark was Hawaiian (for some reason I believe he was), but his reverse grip benchpresses, done without proper judging, were never recognized. If he competed, he competed in federations with liberal rules.

And are you telling me because a guy can do reps with 405 he should be dominating bench press competitions. Just wondering if that is your logic.  I hope not.

No, that's not my point. And that's not my "logic".

But my point is that if you got several guys in every major gym doing reps with 405, as you claim, there is of course going to be a few standouts in this crowd, a few at every gym even.

Instead of trying to prove me wrong which you won't, sell your car and take a trip to Hawaii for a couple weeks and go to the gyms.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong, as a strength fan, it gets my attention when I see your claim, that's all, since it's so far from the norm.

Tell then believe me there are allot of guys who rep with 405.

I'm sorry, I didn't quite get this.

Stuntman and Onlyme,
You guys have great stories for this board with your backgrounds. Would love to read more. I myself am somewhat of an "old Hollywood" buff. My grandfather was a business man back in the 30's and 40's. He worked in L.A at that time for a company that took over failing companies and, restructured them to become managable again. One of the job's he was assigned to was the original Brown Derby restaurant, the old hollywood stars hangout. He took over the managment of this establishment for some time and found a few reasons why it was failing. One was several stars where not paying their bills. One such star was notible for playing in "B" horror films and had his most famous laugh dubed into the "Thriller" album. Anyway, he would buy rounds for everyone and then walk out without paying. My Grandfather played cards with this man as well as Clark Gable and some other notables of that era in the restaurant after hours. He also told the men to pay their bills. My grandfather was older than them and quite an imposing man, he was a sniper in WW1.
I myself met several big names in the 1970's. I was a young kid, my mother was a reporter. I was young enough to not really care too much about meeting them yet knew enough obout them to pay attention when I did.
I met in 1976, Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Stewart at an airport in central California. Ronald Reagan threw his hat in for President (failed) Jimmy Stewart was his supporter. I can remember how excited my father was. My Mom informed us that John Wayne was to speak there as well and that we where to meet him as well. My father was a huge fan of his and could not waite. When we got there my mother was informed that John Wayne was too ill at that time to show. My father was disapointed yet still in awe of James and Ronald. I can Remember seeing Jimmy Stewart staring at me as I sat on my father shoulders during his speach.  I was no more than 10 feet away from him. I kept telling my Dad that he was staring at me. He said "I know be quite". After we met with Mr. Stewart and Reagan, my father told me that the way Jimmy Stewart was looking at me that I must have reminded him of his lost son from the Vietnam war. Whom was a Marine, like my father and, like I was to be as well.
I have also met with Buck Owens and the entire "Hee Haw" gang backstage during a live telecast. I can still smell the booze from his room in the back. I also met Johnny Cash by total luck at the local fair. My good friend and I have always been fans and went just to see him and while we walked around waiting for the show we bumped into him with his body gaurds walking around all the kiosks. My friend saw him first and when I saw him I said, "Shit!,Johnny Cash!!" I will never forget his smirk on his face as he looked at me and said "Hello" with a nod and I said "Hello" back.
I can honestly state that after meeting "REAL" stars. It is really hard to see what all the fuss is about these so-called stars today. It's hard to realize for me that all the greats have died off over the years and will most likely never be replaced. I have never asked for an autograph from any stars and would most likely not in the future. They after all put on their pants one leg at a time like the rest of us. the only difference is fame and fortune, and that is not always permanent.
I have other intersting stories to share if anyone cares. I have a great grandfather who let Hollywood film westerns on his property during the silent era in trade for his apearence in the films. I Have a great cousin who worked directly for Walt Disney, an artist who helped design Disnyland etc, etc.
BTW, I am not telling any of this to brag. I am a normal Joe, just interesting stories that is all.

I am not an expert in powerlifting at all.  I know what I see.  I emceed the World Records breakers for a few years.   These are just a few people that I know have benched 500+ here and I am forgetting some.  Some of these have competed and held world records before.  They all live in Hawaii.

Kerwin Unten 148 lbs benched 500+
Derek Ito
Julian Lee (one of the first to bench 600 at a bodyweight of under 200 I think)  He still does sets of 10 with 405.
Dwight Feely (I think thats his name) benches 600+
Kiu (has bench close to 700)
Tony Leiato has benched well over 500
Jesse Jackson has benched close to 400 and squated close to 700 at a bodyweight of around 160 or so
Matt Lamargue I think to is living here or was
Francis Silva benched 600 at 211 or 208
and their are several others who bench over 500 who do just local shows and some who don't compete at all.

I am saying considering this is an island their are a lot of guys who can bench over 500.  And many more who regualry train with 405 for reps.  I am also saying I know the strongest guys are in Europe.  No doubt about that

And to tell you the honest truth, of all the greats I've met in my lifetime, the greatest I can remember was the black bathroom attendant who worked so many years in the Las Vegas Sands Casino. He was a gentleman who could have won many many votes for President without any fear of questionable shenanigans from days gone by.

He was a man who always gave you a towel along with sage advice. He would know what to say by just looking at the expression on your face or the way you took the towel that he presented so graciously.

Why aren't i surprised you hang out in restrooms?
