Not sure what you are saying.  Sounds like you are admitting Americans are stronger than you guys in a gym.  I think we all knew that, but why bring it up here.  By the way please show me where I said it was common.  Guys benching 405 here for reps is very common.  I would just about say every major gym here has a couple of those at least in them.  Maybe you guys should come to Hawaii and train here.  And the Tyson reference you have all fucked up like the rest of your post.  I never said I saw Tyson train.  I said my friend was training him at the Grand Waialea.  He said mike had a hard time benching his bodyweight.  but he has strong legs but ran out of gas fast.  He said Mike rad at least 5 miles just before coming into the gym and that might be why he was weaker all the time.  DUde if you are going to attempt to discredit me at least get some things right.  God do I have to treat you like I treat Squad.

Actually when visiting San Diego and then Miami last year the guys at Golds Miami and powerhouse SD were similar to my gym.
A lot of 3 plate a side benchers, a couple of 4 a side benchers and maybe 1 or 2 5 plate a side benchers, must be something in the water in Hawaii if you all bench 405 for at least 10.

Dwight is realy Dwayne Feely, Keith.

Semper Fi, Eric! You sound ike me talking and I know the guy who skipped on the payment of his Brown Derby bills (We ate thre once when I was a little kid and even then they were talking about tearing it down. What's in that exact location now?) .... I won't say his name unless you agree and offer confirmation but his initials were VP and he only played in one good movie as far as I was concerned (The Baron of Arizona).

I also feel the same about the stars of the past. There's a notable difference there that I can't quite place my finger on. I also met Jimmy Stewart while he was filming Vertigo in San Francisco and Kim too (She liked me, she realy really liked me!), but Alfred Hitchkock was having lunch in his private trailer.

Interesting to hear that your grandfather was a Marine Sniper. Some of my troops were snipers just out of Vietnam and Life Magazine came on base to do a story about their training and in-country, combat  experience and I ended up being the OIC during that short "indoctrination" around a small campfire on one hell of a cold night at CP. These reporters felt that all snipers should be put through a re-indoctrination program upon returning to states so that they would not continue to "snipe-out" the entire west coast. They felt that many of the snipers returning from Nam were overly excited about their combat experiences and could possibly be a threat on US Shores. I don't know what ever became of that story or even if it was ever published as intended. Did your GF ever tell you combat stories?

As the old saying goes, "I could tell ya a few - but then I'd have to kill ya!"

I never did meet Buck Owens and the others you mentioned but I did meet Burl Ives a number of time and he was always wiing to pull out a guitar and sing a few of his better songs. Rita Hayworth was my one shot baby sitter for an hour or so while she danced in a chorus line in San Francisco.

And I knew Mae West when she wasn't Mae West but just a sweet old lady, but within a matter of seconds she could switch personas and become another person entirely. That kind of "switch" is amazing to see in person. And Pee Wee Herman/Paul Rubens does it best of all. See it in person and you'll just about shit in your knickers.

It's a strong possibility that I was on your great grandfather's ranch at one time or another as I used to go over to San Fernando (before it grew up) and work the stunt horses with my stuntman buddies. I do recall an old swayback horse on one ranch who had appeared as a constant "guest" in one of those old Walt Disney TV shorts....... Could that have been the Spin and Marty series? That o horse had made its owner lots of money and once the TV series was over, he put him out to pasture to enjoy the rest of his living days.

We'd go out to those old San Fernando ranches and train the horses for some damn great movies, 'How the West was Won" is the main one that comes to mind and I can tel you a few interesting things about the dangers of fiiming a film like that.... especially the fight on the train carrying all those logs. (Later story).

You recall a movie with Gary Cooper adn Ruth Roman (mid 50's) called Dallas? The third star in that flick was Gil Donaldson (a family member). He played the part of Ruth Roman's brother if I recall right and all the movie magazines of the day were doing stories on him claiming that he was the next best thing in the movie business. But for some unrecalled reason, he got out of the movie business and played the part of the doctor in the old Lassie TV series. And since then, we've lost contact.

Bringing back a lot of old memories here, Eric. Old days of sneaking on movie sets claiming to be the star in the big movie shooting on the ajacent soundstage, walking onto hot sets with a message for Mr Sinatra, touring the backlots looking for Lassie (we even carried a leash and collar to convince one and all that we really were looking for a lost dog), and getting evicted a couple of times too when we were much too young to be on our own in  Hollywood. On those few occasions the guy who did the evictions always did so with a smile on his face). Later on those same guys would offer a hearty "Good morning, Mr _____!" and that was a very good feeling the first few times.

Semper Fi, Erik. First Force here.

I am not an expert in powerlifting at all.  I know what I see.  I emceed the World Records breakers for a few years.  these are just a few people that I know have benched 500+ here and I am forgetting some.  Some of these have competed and held world records before.  They all live in Hawaii.

Kerwin Uenten 148 lbs benched 500+
Derek Ito
Julian Lee (one of the first to bench 600 at a bodyweight of under 200 I think)  He still does sets of 10 with 405.
Dwight Feely (I think thats his name) benches 600+
Kiu Tuita (has bench close to 700)
Tony Leiato has benched well over 500
Jesse Jackson has benched close to 400 and squatted close to 700 at a bodyweight of around 160 or so
Matt Lamargue I think to is living here or was
Coach Francis Silva benched 600 at 211 or 208 (Did 225 for 65 at Heavy Metals reps competition), I believe Coach also did 600 at 198 at Gus meet.
and their are several others who bench over 500 who do just local shows and some who don't compete at all.

I am saying considering this is an island their are a lot of guys who can bench over 500.  And many more who regularly train with 405 for reps.  I am also saying I know the strongest guys are in Europe.  No doubt about that

There Keith, I fixed it.

You also forgot Doug Ortiz, who did 400 at 132.  Another triple bodyweight bencher.  How many other states have produced ?  There are many a four plate bencher's who don't compete.  I can vouch for that.

Nope, not even close to a triple bodyweight bencher, never bounced, definitely not a streetfighting badass.  But you sir claim to be something you are not.  You post blurry pics to delude others to think you are muscular when you are a fat slob.   Why not post clear pics.  You tease Keith about being fat, but you are an obese slob.  At least Keith was in shape once in his life, were you?  And talk about cyber stalking, I may not agree with Keith a lot, but I surely don't follow him in every post.  And I know, you will have your classic meltdown retort, buddy you need a life.  Oh, and lose some weight, fat man.

Stuntmovie-
My grandfather was a sniper in WW1 but he was not a Marine, he was in the Army. But I won't hold that against him, haha. My father was a Marine late 50's early 60's.
You sure have a lot of great stories and conections. Really neat you met Sinatra. Ever meet Elvis? I love the rat packs entertainment. Those guys where truly legends. I am a Sinatra buff, have a bunch of his music. My wife likes it too, Dean Martin as well.
My great grandfather had property along time ago, when they where first making the "Silent" western movies, somewhere near the Hollywood area, not sure where. When he died most of the property and his busines went to one side of the family who screwed my mom's side out of it. They had my then senial great grandmother sign everything over to them. He also owned a ton of property in Worland, Wyoming. Had a general store there and even had a run-in with Butch Cassidy over a wanted poster on his store. My Great grandfather removed it for him as asked.
As for my grandfather and his war record. He died when I was 3. My grandmother and father told me of his stories. One was how he got caught up in a battle in the trenches that went on for days. The Germans and the US troops did a quick sieze fire in order to swap booze and smokes late one night. Acutally talked to each other, then the next morning began fighting again. If this where true that would be crazy.
As for the Brown Derby and the man skipping out on his bill you are right. I liked him in a movie with Robert Mitchum called "His Kind Of Woman" I thought he was the perfect ham in that one. Ramond Burr played the "heavy" in it. I think Jane Russell was in it as well. I should get that movie on dvd. Anyway keep up the great stories you have a ton of them sounds like. Would love to hear more.

Eric, I never was an Elvis fan and only bought "Ole Shep" which is still one of my favorite songs of all time. One of my troops knew him from his high school days and lost complete contro of his emotions when he heard that Elvis had died. it took a while for him to compose himself and then he talked about what a great person Elvis really was outside of his show business life and how much his real friends woud be missing him.

Before Elvis passed on, I knew another guy who knew Elvis well and worked with him on some recording projects. He asked me and an old girlfriend it we wanted to go to Vegas and see his show at the current day Hilton which had another name back then. I turned him down for some reason but Jayne made the trip and had a front row seat. When Elvis left the stage, a guy in a suit and tie came up to Jayne and asked her if she would like to visit Elvis up in the Penthouse. At first she thought he was a pick up artist (she was/is a great looking lady) but two hotel security guards suddenly appeared and stated that they would personally escort her upstairs.

She happily agreed and passed through a number of Elvis friends and security personnel and lead into the huge room overlooking the city with a piano by the windows. She was asked to take a seat and offered food and drink but she poitely refused.

She tod me that within a couple of minutes Elvis came down the staircase and in what she swore was a bathrobe and slippers and politely introduced himself and asked her if she would sit by him at the piano. She said he was super polite and asked about "Bob" whom they both knew in common.

Then he asked if she would mind if he played the piano and did a bit of singing. He enjoyed doing that after every performance in an  effort to calm down. She sat there mesmorized for about 30 minutes when someone came into the room and informed Elvis about some appearence obligation that was scheduled early the next morning.

Elvis talked a bit more and thanked her for5 coming up and invited Jayne to his show the following night and then excused himself after giving her a kiss on her forehead, whereupon Jayne was escorted back to her hotel room by a couple of Elvis friends. I got a phone call late that evening ..... She was planning to run away with Elvis. She was kidding of course, but she was fascinated by his politeness and the rare opportunity to sit beside him  on the piano stool while he sang parts of songs she had grown up with.

When Elvis came to Hawaii to do a TV show that was going to be broadcast live in Japan, the Blaisdell Arena was filled to capacity about 3 am in the morning for the live telecast. I failed to go to that performance too but everyone in town was talking about it for the next few weeks.

True story there..... But another one that happened is pretty humerous. I'll tell ya that one next.

Another old girlfriend (Let's call her Cathy) lived in a huge beachfront home in Laguna Beach, California. Her dad was extremely wealthy and had beachfront properties up and down the coast of Southern California. Cathy was one hell of a sweet lady. Never saw the badness in anyone and helped anyone who asked.

She liked to travel lots and meet all sorts of prople.

One year she got a job in Harold's Club, Stateline, Lake Tahoe where she worked as a Roulette dealer. No big deal back then but she could never get the winners paid off correctly but she was an eyeful and the Pit Bosses liked her lots. And so did the customers even when they were short-changed.

One evening a guy was playing at here table and asked if she would ike to have dinner and see a show the next night she was off. So she turned to the Pit Boss and asked if she should go out with this guy sitting there with all the chips in front of him and he assured her that the casino would not have any problem if she went out with "that customer".

So arrangements were made to meet on her next night off at King's Castle Casino up in what was Incline Village, Lake Tahoe (now the Hyatt Tahoe).

As usual she was late and met by someone other than her date and escorted into a large room set up for fine dining and entertainment of some sort.

She was shown to her seat and her date came up to table, welcomed her and asked if she would mind if he took care of business while she had some cocktails and/or champaigne. She said, "Sure! That's no problem!" and then she over heard someone at the next table yel, "Look! There's Frank Sinatra, jr!"

And Kathy looked around and said, "Oh I love him! He's one of my favorite singers!"

And her date said, "Great! I'll be right back!"

And within 2 minutes he was on stage singing his first few songs to Kathy! She had no idea who the hell he was until he started singing.

True story! I think he was kidnapped shortly after that but Kathy had nothing to do with it. But she was questioned a lot!

Erik, here's a tough one for ya .... another one I knew way back when .... Sterling Holloway.

Nope, couldn't care less.  Cyberstalking and hijacking every thread Keith is on is a sign of some serious issues.  I don't always agree with Keith, in fact, a lot of the times I disagree, but I don't have to get personal and make attacks on someone.  I disagree with realkarateblackbelt on just about everything, but I don't attack him personally.   The only reason I registered for getbig was to refute somethings Keith said about a mutual acquaintance.  I decided to stay because I found it interesting, and liked intellectual discourse.  Squad seemeds obsessed with being the scourge of getbig, more power to him.  Even if I were to post a picture of my skinny, gangly body, I can at least see my abs daily.  Something Squad is 16 weeks away from doing.  Why the blurry pics, again?  Why not just be anonymous if you are going to post blurry pics?  And if you do, at least post some that are complimentary.
