If there is any promoter I'd beef with it'd be Balik. As Shawn once stated the THE PRO IRONMAN prize money is still (about) the same but the ticket prices have risen dramamtically. Shawn's is still a success it handles not only IFBB athletes but also NPC!!!! I see his show moving up there to the ARNOLD in a few years but like I said before...Ya Gotta Crawl Before You Can Walk!!!!

The Peanut Gallery is a tough crowd!
Sadly, the people that are complaining, never bothered to come to Denver. Everyone in Denver, Amateur and Pro, loved what we brought. Did I say it would last forever, no.
Did I get challenged by people at Ironman to put on my own show, yes.
Did I do that in grand fashion and across the board, yes.
Am I satified with the two year show, yes.
Would I change anything, NO!
Can I walk away and be satisfied with what we did in Denver YES!
Will I....................... ....

Will the show be on the calander for next year,.......................

Shawn why bother answerring them??? From what I hear the Colorado show was GREAT the last 2 years! I wish I went but I am too busy to go when the time comes. Don't lett'm get ya down.

Did I do that in grand fashion and across the board, yes. How grand was it?
Am I satified with the two year show, yes. This could be your downfall. If you were satisfied with losing money.
Would I change anything, NO! This too could be your downfall. If your title sponsor is unhappy losing money then you should change.
Can I walk away and be satisfied with what we did in Denver YES! Walk away thats the best thing you have said so far.

Exactly! Shawn seems to be copying the very same explainations he shat on when offered by Keith. Feels different when the shoe is on the other fioot, huh Shawn?

Ron, Shawn, and all of Shawn's nuthuggers seem 100% convinced I wasn't at the Colorado Pro I or II. Interesting how they can be so certain without hacking into my American Express account to see if I was in Denver.

Probably the reason the thread was cleaned up is because some of you choose to, instead of discussing the topic, you spew out a post or two of hatred that has the whole thread gone. Instead of trying to support the industry, some of you clearly dont care, and that is too bad. I give a lot more respect to people who actually come and go to a show or an expo, than to one who thinks he knows, but says it is a failure.

It is easy to criticize from the seat of your ass instead of actually going to the show. As I have said it before, I have more respect for Billy Guns and Vince G for going to the O, than others who love to complain but never go.

As for Goatboy, get your act together, and try to say something positive. At least go to a show, and stop complaining about the world.

I attended the first show and enjoyed myself tremendously. I wasn't there in 2007, but heard it was even better.

Although not a commercial success, the Colorado Pro *is* an event that the majority of fans and competitors in attendance enjoyed.

In order to bring it back, they would need to modify the business model and plan on growing it over a period of several years.

In my opinion, using a more sensibly-priced venue and decreasing the prize money while focusing on increasing the size of the NPC portion would make this show viable within 3-5 years.

I met Lee in Dallas - Lonnie was breaking his balls a bit after a LONG show and he struck me as a pretty cool guy. At a glance, he looks a little like actor Jean Remo (The Professional, Da Vinci Code).

Ah, here we go. In terms of the fans, the Colorado show was a success. In terms of making money, it wasnt. Until you actually put on a show, put your own money down, get sponsors, and more, it isn't as easy at it sounds. Kudos for Shawn for putting it on. Once you see what needs to get done, you have more respect. Shawn learned the hard way. As an athlete, he was critical of promoters, and raising the prize money. But now, being on the other side, he understands more.

I have no problem with people talking about Lee Thompson - I have a problem with people accusing him without proof. It equals to slander, so don't. Lee and I get along fine, I think he is cool, and yes, he is friends with Shawn Ray, as well as friends to a lot of other people. Lee is the chairperson of the NPC in Texas, and has been very visible lately, in terms of being at a lot of events. He is a dedicated person to the sport of bodybuilding, and has worked hard to build it up in Texas, and goes all over, unpaid. Does he have problems with people? Maybe? Are others jealous of his rise to chairperson? Perhaps? Does he have conflicts? Sure - many people do.

You don't like the guy. Fine. But when things comes to talk about family, and other private events, it crosses the line. For everyone.

Ha - but Shawn, it really is raining out here. Time to take the automatic sprinklers off for 24 hours!

But there is a lot involved in a show - insurance, venue, people, security, unions, fees, hall costs, sanctions, prize money, advertising, actually getting sponsors and so much more. People just figure it is so easy - but it isnt.
