Hi all,
Yes, Milos was right!
I'm the Chairman of the Arrest Paul Chua Executive Committee. Let me address some of the questions raised. It may appear incredulous to some of you why anyone would pay such massive amounts for a BB title.
First, lets' get the dichotomy between hardcore amateur BB contests such as the Mr. Universe and the IOC sanctioned Asian Games (and SE Asian Games) clear. You see, Asian Governments do not care too hoots for the first category - The Mr. Universe, Mr. World, Mr. What-have-you!
However, the second category pumps up the Asian Sports Ministries, because they are IOC sanctioned! Bodybuilding Gold Medals in these games, like the Asian Games and the minor SEA Games gets these governments all worked up. Together with Corporate Sponsors, they pour hundred of thousands (sometimes even houses and prime land)on every gold medal that is brought home - ostensibly because these events add to national prestige! The National BB Federations too are rewarded handsomely. Win a BB Gold medal in these Games, and you're basically, set for life!
This wily crook, Paul Chua, recognizes this. He knows that the Mr. U does not attract the larghesse of these governments, so he leaves this category basically alone - partly due to the fact that he can't control the Judging in these contests. This explains the unique phenomena in Asia where some of the contestants (especially in the lighter weight classes) are able to win multiple Mr. Universe titles - only to lose to some smooth tyro in the minor SEA Games Bodybuilding event, sometimes just weeks after winning a Mr. U.
You see, the Asian Games and SEA Games BB contest come under the purview of the ABBF, of which Paul Chua was Secretary General. He then places compliant judges in the Judging Panel and then proceeds to sell the Gold Medal to the highest bidder! Rumours have it that as much as US$100,000 change hands!
Paul Chua knows that he's virtually immune from exposure because:
1. The IFBB will protect him because he's the official distributor of Weider Products for Asia, IFBB VP for Asia and Special Assistant to the IFBB Prez.
2. Joe Public will always demand "concrete proof" and the surreptitious nature of his crimes ensures that that is not easily forthcoming
3. He uses the IFBB machinery such as the IFBB Pro League (not unlike the Mafia except that the latter uses machine guns) to quell complaints, which Milos (to the dishonour of Jim Manion) at the expense of his BB career, found out
4. He sows a climate of fear by ending the career of any BB or BB official in Asia by throwing the book at them, at the slightest hint of exposure
I think that all those who've trashed talked about Milos and dragged his name through the mud, to extend an apology to this brave man (including the IFBB and their Pro League) who dares to do something that Asian BBer's, BB Officials and Associations have never dared to do - say it as it is!
