Paul Chua: Wold Champion tested Positive
« on: October 19, 2007, 04:40:51 AM »
I got the following from the Bahrain Bodybuilding federation president (Mohammed Abdulla):

Kamal Salam form Qatar (85KG) was tested positive for “trenbolone” in the Asian Championship.  This is the second time he is testing positive –first time being world championship in 2003- an official from Qatar (Ibrahim Mohamed Kafod) was sent to Paul Chua to clear the matter and discuss how much they have to pay to cover the tests and let Kamal do the world championship after 10 days in Korea.

The amount is not finalized yet but new from Bahrain is that they will pay a sum of US$100000 to the Asian federation just to let it slip.  The Bahraini federation is not happy with the decision cause having Kamal in the lineup will weaken their chances of scoring.

For decades now, Paul Chua has systematically used the power of his position as Secretary General of the Asian Bodybuilding Federation (ABBF) and Vice President of the International of Bodybuilders (IFBB) to practice official corruption by selling titles and first position placements to the highest bidder. At the last Asian Games in Doha, informed sources alleged that each gold medal was sold to the highest bidder by Paul Chua for US$75,000.00

To cover up his tracks he has also through the years thrown the book at athletes and officials by suspending them or threatening them with suspension when faced with exposure.  Entire national committees have been decimated or removed and replaced with compliant officials - lackeys who would do his bidding to enable him to carry out his grand scheme of selling bodybuilding titles, a most profitable venture for him.  Compliant judges are handpicked to do his bidding to ensure that the winner is the preordained one – the one with the payola, who has greased Mr. Paul Chua’s palm.

Such a climate of fear has grown up in Asian bodybuilding that no athlete or official dares to cross his path especially with his record of removing and suspending or threatening with removal or suspension, athletes/officials and even affiliates in virtually every territory in which the ABBF has an affiliate.

However, in this day and age, it is impossible for a crook like Paul Chua to evade exposure and arrest on corruption charges forever.  It is with this in mind that the conveners of this site have set up this site to allow anyone who has any knowledge of Paul Chua’s misdeeds or criminal acts to post their complaint(s) either anonymously or with full or partial identity.  Please note that to enable us to build a case and to file a criminal complaints report with the FBI or the Singapore Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, only complaints duly signed with full identity and contact details such as addresses and telephone numbers disclosed and verified will be useful.

You can rest assured that the confidentiality of your complaint will be guaranteed by this site!

Sorry, but I just can't beleive that anyone would pay those amounts to win a bb'ing contest.  The victory doesn't justify the AMOUNT of the bribe.  There are bribes going on, but the amounts have been wildly exaggerated.  Think about it rationally.  What does the winner or his country's sponsor get out of it?  Prestige?  Ummmmm, in case anyone hasn't noticed, the number of bb'ing fans are very few and dwindling each day.  So, someone please tell me what they are buying for that amount of money.

Um, I think the winner gets something like half a million $ (US) (someone who knows for sure correct me here). So if that's the case, yea, $75k (US) isn't such a stupid looking bribe.

But if that's the case then why wouldn't they want the best of the best to compete at their contest like the top ifbb guys.  Why pay a guy 500 grand that isn't even a top ifbb pro, most of which look better than these dune dwellers?  What is the prize money and if it is 500 grand why don't more of the top guys forgo the ifbb to compete in the sand?

Hi all,

Yes, Milos was right!

I'm the Chairman of the Arrest Paul Chua Executive Committee.  Let me address some of the questions raised.  It may appear incredulous to some of you why anyone would pay such massive amounts for a BB title.

First, lets' get the dichotomy between hardcore amateur BB contests such as the Mr. Universe and the IOC sanctioned Asian Games (and SE Asian Games) clear.  You see, Asian Governments do not care too hoots for the first category - The Mr. Universe, Mr. World, Mr. What-have-you!

However, the second category pumps up the Asian Sports Ministries, because they are IOC sanctioned!  Bodybuilding Gold Medals in these games, like the Asian Games and the minor SEA Games gets these governments all worked up.  Together with Corporate Sponsors, they pour hundred of thousands (sometimes even houses and prime land)on every gold medal that is brought home - ostensibly because these events add to national prestige!  The National BB Federations too are rewarded handsomely. Win a BB Gold medal in these Games, and you're basically, set for life!

This wily crook, Paul Chua, recognizes this.  He knows that the Mr. U does not attract the larghesse of these governments, so he leaves this category basically alone - partly due to the fact that he can't control the Judging in these contests.  This explains the unique phenomena in Asia where some of the contestants (especially in the lighter weight classes) are able to win multiple Mr. Universe titles - only to lose to some smooth tyro in the minor SEA Games Bodybuilding event, sometimes just weeks after winning a Mr. U.

You see, the Asian Games and SEA Games BB contest come under the purview of the ABBF, of which Paul Chua was Secretary General.  He then places compliant judges in the Judging Panel and then proceeds to sell the Gold Medal to the highest bidder!  Rumours have it that as much as US$100,000 change hands!

Paul Chua knows that he's virtually immune from exposure because:

1.  The IFBB will protect him because he's the official distributor of Weider Products for Asia, IFBB VP for Asia and Special Assistant to the IFBB Prez.
2.  Joe Public will always demand "concrete proof" and the surreptitious nature of his crimes ensures that that is not easily forthcoming
3.  He uses the IFBB machinery such as the IFBB Pro League (not unlike the Mafia except that the latter uses machine guns) to quell complaints, which Milos (to the dishonour of Jim Manion) at the expense of his BB career, found out
4.  He sows a climate of fear by ending the career of any BB or BB official in Asia by throwing the book at them, at the slightest hint of exposure

I think that all those who've trashed talked about Milos and dragged his name through the mud, to extend an apology to this brave man (including the IFBB and their Pro League) who dares to do something that Asian BBer's, BB Officials and Associations have never dared to do - say it as it is!

Of course, The USA does not participate in the SEA Games and the Asian Games.  These games are regional games, sanctioned by the IOC.  The only way Americans can participate is to apply for citizenship in one of these Asian or SE Asian Nations.

Despite the lack of quality vis a vis American BB's, these are very lucrative games for PAUL Chua.  There are no shortage of National BB Associations offering him bribes.  Of course, there'll be some that'd offer too low, from time to time.  In those instances, Paul Chua would then reject the offer and call in the media (probably the IFBB top dogs too) to trumpet how he'd rejected a bribe, and how incorruptible he is, how terrified he was with these attempts to bribe him.... ad nauseum!!!  He is no stupid crook!

I do not know. Maybe there are citizenship requirements, so US citizens cannot compete. Etc.... Research it. Apparently something is preventing them from doing just that.

None of it makes any sense to me.  Citizenship requirements are and have always been mere formalities that can be easily circumvented.  And if these sand dwellers love bb'ing so much, why not invite the best physiques instead of just having what are basically amateurs.  Seriously, it just doesn't add up.  Maybe Mishko (aka Frank D Law) can clear up these questions.

national pride.

Still calling bullshit.  National pride only comes into play if the win is seen as significant worldwide.  National pride doesn't come into play if the win doesn't mean anything to any other country other than the country winning.  Get it?  Status is only gained if OTHER countries see it as important.  So a win in like baseball would engender national pride because other countries see it as prestigous.  But bb'ing?

Oh, and if it is an IOC sanctioned event, then no money can be paid to the winners.

So, you remove the "national pride" from the equation and the money and what do you have left?  Someone winning a contest that no one other than the people involved in it really care about.  Oh, and a very small number of schmoes.

im not claiming to be an expert on asian bodybuilding politics...but you forget that the national pride between the asian countries is big.

it doesnt have to have worldwide significance, asia is a big....... also as frankie d says the asian games is IOC sanctioned......= governments (sports ministries) will be interested......and invest money

so its def believable

read this:

"However, the second category pumps up the Asian Sports Ministries, because they are IOC sanctioned! The National BB Federations too are rewarded handsomely. you dont seem to understand that sports was and is used as a political vehicle and as a source of national pride...never underestimate those powers.

just look at olympic history...usa vs the eastern block.

look at the coming olympic games.

and yes bodybuilding is not a big "sport"..but still dont underestimate national pride

Sorry, but I'm still not convinced.  Asain pride is significant.  But Asain countries only measure their status in context of the world, not just other countries.  Every Asian country already thinks that it is superior over other ASAIN countries.  And the world, by and large, would be more interested in a rock/paper/scissors match than it would bb'ing.

And the contest cannot be IOC sanctioned if they are paying the winners.

only their status in context of the world..hahahah...epic bullshit. pride between the asian countries is very important. take japan vs china , south korea vs japan etc

as for the sums paid..i dont know if they are correct.

as for the winners not getting paid..dont be so naive....they get paid one way or another. by national federations etc.

look at how bahrain and Qatar buy bulgarians to win them medals in weightlifting...how they buy moroccans and kenyans to win medals for them in athletics and so on.

bahrain and qatar and the countries in that area are willing to and have bough many medals. saudi arabia has bought many medals in many sports. this is reality.

so emn1964 you simply dont understand the background to all of this  ;)
