Hey guys I've noticed that now that I have more responsibility at work (office job no manual labor involved) It's a lot harder to stick to a low calorie diet.  I used to be able to go all day without eating but now that I have to focus that just doesn't work.  Have you guys had similar experiences?

I think most posters on this site are either college kids that don't work, go to class and train.   Those that work may not have intensive jobs or much responsibility.  For those of us that do work, have career responsibility, are married, have children, mortgage payments and all of life's responsibilities won't be able to maintain that diehard gym lifestyle as it's a very self-centered existence.

I think a lot of the posters on here are college kids that think, "how hard can it be to work 9-5, eat 6 times a day and then train after work?"   From that limited perspective it isn't difficult, it's when you add reality and the rest of life that it becomes hard and you have to work that much harder just so you can work hard at the gym each week.

OK well I have no problem with you here, I mean I like you, we've exchanged PM's and whatnot...but if you're gonna come along after everything I post and be like, "Yeah but you won't live to be 110 doing that stuff," well, that's just a pain in my ass.  And consider that if you're gonna look more like what you're indicating that you do, that you might have to bite the bullet and actually lift some traditional weights and add a little protein to your diet.  The diet you posted is a housewife Nutrisystem crash diet, seriously.  Wake up and see where you're at with all this.  Oh and one-legged doorjam squats won't do a damn thing for you that equates with real-world progress.  Yeah, they're probably hard.  I'll give you that.  But wtf are you doing them for?

what's a doorjam squat?

I don't think I need to lift weights.  I worked up to some pretty heavy lifts and I can tell you that the BW work I do now puts way more tension on my muscles.  I also always try to get the USDA recommended amount of protein (yesterday I fell a little short but the day before I definitely had a little bit more, so on avg. I'm probably ok).

As far as longevity goes, I have never criticized guys on gear for their choices, they want to sacrifice some longevity for being big now, that's fine by me.  It's not that important for me to be huge now so I won't sacrifice health for it, I'll wait for Myostatin inhibition or better yet Acceleron

Why would you eat cheesecake everyday?? When you start a thread named "hard to diet when working hard"...

my diet strategy is to reduce calories.  The Cheesecake is very satisfying, but more importantly it tastes awesome

Yeah this is exactly what I'm talking about.

If you're just killing 8 hours at work surfing the net, it's easy to keep a diet.  That was the main way I lost so much weight, just zone out at work all day and go hungry.  It's a lot harder to do that though now that I have to be focused all day.  I can't get shit done when I'm starving.

That and when your responsibilities increase at work you'll be forced to find quick ways to eat and that ain't often clean bb food sources....that's fvckin Wendys.   Sure I'll go somewhere like Wendy's and get a few double hamburgers plain and dry, scrap a bun or two, clean off as much meat fat as I can and get in my protein, but that's not gonna be an option all the time.  Yeah, when work slows I can pack my lunch every morning for the day, but when projects and deadlines increase, your energy levels diminish and it's truly difficult to keep that up like you'd like to be able to.

thats funny, im the complete opposite. if i sit around with nothing to do i tend to think about food and eating more, if im busy i dont give it a thought and as such eat less that way

There is a good cheesecake place downstairs from my office Junior's (if any of you have ever seen Making the band, this is the place that P. Diddy has the kids run to get him strawberry cheesecake) and I tend to get into a habit of eating the same thing everyday for lunch.

most days my other two meals are pretty healthy.

for breakfast I have: Vanilla Puffed Wheat™ - POINTS® value: 1

Simple, delicious and sugar free, Vanilla Puffed Wheat is sure to satisfy with its natural vanilla almond, and mixed berry flavor, combined with a crunch that will keep you coming back for more.

This stuff is very tasty and healthy.

and for dinner a lot of the time I will have some chinese chicken breast dish or some kind of fish dish.

As a fourth meal I will sometimes have an ice cream sundae with low fat ice cream low fat cupcakes and cocoa pebbles.

you should try buying the big crates of a couple dozen eggs andhardboiling a bunch of them. just put them back in an egg carton and put them in the fridge at work....

back when i had a "real job" this is what i did, i also kept a few cans of tuna in the cubbord in the breakrrom.

well I don't keep any food in my office so with out any demands placed on me I just zone out in front of the computer and ignore the hunger.  Once you learn to ignore it it will go away after a while.

either this is hyperbole or you have body dismorphia issues (or both).  There is no where in the world where the average man is as fit as me.

Thank you, but been there and done that.   I was told at my last job to leave the eggs at home cause people were complaining about the smell each day.....that and they make me fart.   The tuna I still keep with me most of the time at work.

wow that is actually a pretty awesome nutritional profile for a whole cup of cereal. the cereal i use to carb up with is 52 % fiber, and its still 25 grams of carbs(well, including the fiber) for a half cup...but its just plain old bran flavor. i am going to try this cereal on this weekends carb-up...thnaks, shifted
