Come on you pussies, today is the deadline for your vids!

FINAL DAY TO POST!

I PM'ed everyone who originally entered and got only one response (from Beast). Are you telling me that no one can beat any of what has been posted?

The deadline is supposed to be tomorrow I thought?  Oh well, guess that I will not be entering, I was going to do mine tomorrow.

Whats wrong with slow? I was being a bit cautious as well due to my shoulder and no pulling in almost a month. But I still pull pretty slow on a regular basis I think?

Maybe if I get my speed up I will get 10 reps? I know I can get 7-8 if I work on it for a couple weeks.

hey man we've been over this... force=massxacceleration..the faster you pull the more force you generate which makes the lift easier. Which is why you have to be explosive with weights on the deadlift especially off the floor. The slower you go the more work you have to do. I bet if you sped it up just a little more you could've gotten a few more reps but yeah man I hear you on the shoulder!

i noticed i'm still fighting my bnech press near my chest..i've since stopped that and my elbow feels 10x's better!

Wish I didnt even have joints, damnit! >:( ;D

I will actually be limiting my squatting now and focussing on deads. I have little use for squat, everything in strongman is a DL. I will use DL as my primary on lower body days. If I am going to waste my lower back, it aint gonna be for squats!

Will work on the speed and let you know how it goes.

That could be a very very bad idea...

Yes it could be! Though I will be doing it right. I have done this before and it really helped me in the stones and farmers. I am going to my 3 day split for a few weeks (lower dynamic, upper dynamic, events for reps OR max, recovery exercise between workouts). This is scaled back a bit from the way I originally had it configured. Oh, and I wont be completely dropping squats out of my regimen, just prioritizing DL.

Any advice is always welcome though! Suggestions?

Personally, I am hoping that Chris Mason can show you all ripped up muscle queens how it's done. If he enters, I think he has a good shot at winning his own prize, which would be hilarious.

He is after all a very good deadlifter.

I'm out guys...

I'd like to continue to train for a 500 single, will this thread be kept open?

Thanks to all the guys who did post videos; very inspiring. I managed to set a new personal record (405 x 12) while trying to make this new goal... something I wouldn't have accomplished without the added motivation.

You can do 405x12, but you can't pull 500 once ???

...I train HIT-style so I can manage quite a few reps with weights close on my 1RM.

For example, six months ago I was deadlifting 405 for 5 or 6 good clean reps... but an attempt at 455 proved I couldn't get it past my knees.

When you train HIT you don't exhaust your stabilizer muscles and can do work sets very close to your 1RMs, closer than you could possibly get doing conventional training. A good example that everyone can relate to would be the bench press. I can bench 315 max (I'm only 5'5''), but I can do a work set with 245 for 11 reps.

I'm a little shy of attempting a full 500 this side of a 405x15 work set. Any powerlifters who want to comment on this logic please feel free to do so as I'd like a powerlifter perspective on my reasoning.

Someone comment....cause to me he is either full of shit about the 405x12 or he can deadlift 500 but his parents won't let him take the camera to the gym.

I'm out of the country for a week starting Tuesday... but if the thread is still open for a few weeks I might post my upcoming attempt at 405 for 15. (13 is probably more realistic)

If I can get that then I'll attempt 500.
