After the Ironman and Arnold, I want to see the debate: Flex vs. Phil, how do they compare?

There is no comparison. Flex in 1993 was miles better. Flex 2nd in Mr. Olympia his first time, Heath wasn't even top 3 at the Arnold. Just look a the difference in condition.

Aside from a lack of absolute mass and condition (due to his FSGS kidney problem) this is about as perfect as a front double biceps can be. Could you have imagined Flex competing in the 80s?  :o

I agree with you. But this new and improved Phil might give Flex's legendary 1993 combo of size, shape and conditioning a run for it's money. We'll see.

Phil can't compare.

Never will be able to compare to the Flex of the early 90's.

But he's probably gonna be able to beat the Sultan of Synthol that Wheeler became.

Flex has for a long time been my favorite. But its not fare to compare this two pictures. They has totally different lightening's. Flex Wheeler was pretty tiny in 93 MrO. He does not look as good in videos than he does in pictures. Today Phil Heath is way more muscular.

Compare pictures from different locations should never been done, because it can never be fare. Comparing should be done on the same stage, is the only fare thing, and that will never happen in the case of Flex Wheeler and Phil Heath.

From 2 years from now, I think Phil Heath will be the best thing we ever have seen on a bodybuilding stage. He will be the man taking it to the next level, like Coleman did.

A 93 flex wheeler would probably not been abel to get top 6 at the todays MrO or even top 10.

The O lineup last yr was bulls##t.  How soon we all forget?  It was so bad Kamali could have got a top 10 spot.  Find the threads after the show and see what people were saying.  Glad I saved my money.  Flex of 93 would have placed 2nd.  Jay would have got him on mass alone.    Phil can put on all the size in the world, and it's the same package.  In other words Ronnie has a s##t load of Os but Flex still has the nicer physique.  The game goes to the muscle packers and Phil will go to 260 if he has too even on his narrow frame.  It looks like.  Who are the drug gurus here?  His jumps are fast than anyone I've seen recently.  Shawn could have turned pro probably a year earlier than he did back in 87 and he didnt make the crazy jumps that Phil is making, nor did Flex.

heath looks really good.  I really don't see anyone beating him at the arnold-the only ones who will come close are Vic who's probably out cause of a "knee injury" or maybe if he's totally ripped to the bone Dexter...I mean totally shredded, that's the only 2 I see coming close.....

Nah, I think you were over-hyping Phil and just got lucky.  ;D
You were one the of the ones hate'n on me when I posted his pics before he did his first national show. Phil followed through and did his business, I was just the messenger you wanted to shoot.

It's my business to promote & market people and if you view it as over-hyping, so be it.

I do the same for many other people but as I think we can all agree there are very, very few guys who will ever look like Phil. I've been one of the few fortunate people who have seen Phil since his first show and watch him progress along the way. Ya, I'm lucky to live in the same city and to be able to call Phil a friend but you create your own luck.

A reminder of one of the first pics people saw of Phil (taken before Jr. Nationals):

U must be kidding. Flex from 93 would look like a tooth stick among the guys at MrO 07.

Go back and look at the 1993 O, where he came second, and some say should have beat one of the most dominant Mr.O's of all time. He compared favorable well. And that was at 218 pounds. Yeah, he's light, but he gives an illusion that he is bigger. His waist was smaller than Shawn Ray's and was almost as big as Lebrada's. His arms were bigger than Dorian's, and his back detail was phenomenal. Bodybuilders have only gotten bigger, not better, and you see that quality difference.

That Flex shot, is the shit, and look at the line up, Vince Taylor, and Paul Dillett, who would make Jay look like boy. Yet Flex won at 216 pounds, kinda lets you know what the deal is.
