Above post = truth. Many a fighter back in the day, was just happy to collect the paycheck from fighting Tyson, I don't believe many if any thought they would win. Buster Douglas was even surprised with the outcome.

last guy i saw in an ma comp just using primarily shoot was kerr and don't forget 1. he was extremely quick (probably the most explosive and powerful shooter i've ever seen) 2. he was taking heavy doses of morphine and other pain killers to cope with eating strikes on the way in and 3. (most importantly) he NEVER faced a striker anywhere close to the timing, accuracy, power, balance and speed of foot and hand. no way on god's green earth would kerr shoot in on prime tyson with ease. no chance. no amount of morphine or steroids can stop your brain telling you it's time to go to sleep. tyson had perfectly timed and placed uppercuts, hooks, power in both hands, lateral movement (most striking opponents to kerr were straight ahead and up and down heavy weight kick boxers = lunch meat for kerr where one foot in air just meant easier take down..

i totally agree (as i have previously stated) that tyson is dead on the ground with a good grappler, but the theory that you just walk in and take prime tyson down is typical 5:30pm class bjj propoganda. the only guys i ever here completely dismissing a phenom like tyson are the delusional 3 times a week bjj champs that have never been in a full contact bout in their lives. they get deluded by their own hype.

Unless you can prove that no way no how would a grapler be able to take tyson to the ground, then you have no argument. All Tyson can do is throw punches. He is hopeless on the ground. In fact, Tyson is at a severe disadvantage when it comes to fighting MMA strikers like Crocop, because these guys can strike with their legs which Tyson can't, and the legs can strike from a greater distance than the arms. Answer me what would happen if Crocop landed one of his roundhouse kicks to Tyson's ears. Answer: he would be knocked out unconscious to the ground. You are also assuming that it is a certain thing that Tyson would lend a punch on the grapler before the latter takes him to the ground, and that is a big assumption. Rickson fought over 100 fights against boxers, and he managed to get them on the ground each and every single time before the boxer could lend a punch on him. You make big assumptions and leave it a that. You have proven nothing, really.

How can you prove that he has no ground game? Because you've only 'seen' him box? How do you know he can't deal with a grappler?

Look at it this way... When Tyson was Prime... I didn't see anyone stepping up to take him on... Hell, it's 20 years later and I STILL don't see a lot of people trying to step up to Tyson... That fucker is STILL scary.

Why not one of these guys do it NOW... he's old, can't possibly do any damage, and he needs to get paid, but I haven't seen anyone step to Tyson and say... PLEASE.
