All this guys is doing swinging hammer curls with a slight twist of the palm at the top. I have never seen anyone strict curl (palms up the entire movement, minimal swing) more than the 50's

i can do 65 sometimes 70's pretty strict  then after that its a mess and they are hammer curls

your studies are ancient and biomechanics have come a long way, the biceps and the muscles i outlined are involved in forearm flexion AND supination, supination is key to building the brachioradialis, which adds depth and size to the lateral portion of the arm.

im not really disagreeing with you, just pointing out that flexion and supination is probably best for an overall arm workout.

biomechanics are biomechanics.  Did attachments of muscles change?  As far as studies....those were the quickest ones I pulled from my archives.

I wasnt doubting that the muscles you mentioned are involved in flexion of the wrist and supination.  My contention was that I didnt see the need to supinate the dumbells when executing a curl.  If someone really wants to do that, why not add shoulder flexion to the whole thing with barbell curls seeing that the biceps muscle crosses the shoulder joint (at two places).

Actually, I was quite impressed with this deadlift irrespective of the fact he's got a guy there "helping" him. I don't believe the guy on the floor is doing a significant amount of work so Castleberry can be accredited with being able to lift at least 600lbs on his own - still very impressive for someone his weight. As daft as it seems, this is a good lift.

im just making the point that your example of shoulder flexion doesnt relate, as the biceps do not have major action at that joint. its like saying front raises would work the biceps which it wouldn't. While supination will, along with elbow flexion.

Again I point this out to you...the major action of the muscles you mentioned are for wrist flexion.  The major action of the biceps are to flex the forearm.  Due to their origin ACROSS the shoulder joint there is some help with shoulder flexion.

Exactly!!!! I use to swing when doing dumbbell bicep curls doing 85 pounds in a way like Casselberry's form!

I use to be able to do 65 pound dumbbell curls with strict form....now since injuring myself, I cant even do 35s-40s without feeling some sort of pain. My left bicep has been strained since October 2007.

I cant do pull-ups, rows, curls without feeling some sort of pain n my left bicep...
