who trained the hardest - ronnie coleman or dorian yates?

of course Dorian, his mentality and focus toward training was like 100%,
while Ronnie trained hard but he was still having a bit of fun in between sets

Ronnie was better on the more basic lifts . Dorian was more mahcine like overall.
Hard to say who really did train "harder", both were classic hardcore , no frills style of trainers.
I have both the Coleman "That's Incredible " and Yates " Blood and Guts training videos.
Ronnies 2 resp with 800 along with all the incredible barbell lifting is incredible.
But for pure training value I would say Yates was more effective.
Most normal guys would get injured or NOT grow as much traing like Ronnie did with the loose form and heavy basic moves. Yates style is something ANYONE could use and make gains.

Arnold had the best overall form however , as seen in Pumping Iron.

He also never took anytime off (perhaps 2 weeks at most), Ronnie on the other hand took months off in the year.
Just because Ronnie was stronger dosent mean he had more intensity than Dorian

Dorian's heavy set was Ronnie's warmup  Doz was a pussy in the gym, making noises while lifting baby weights.

Dorian was shoulder pressing the 150s for reps and was able to bench over 500lbs back in 91/92. Ronnie did the 160s weighing probably about 50lbs more in 2003. Dorian was barbell rowing 455 before the biceps tear with perfect form. Go in the gym and row a weight up with no swing or momentum. Coleman had stronger legs, I think Dorian was stronger on upper body.

Heavier weights don't equal higher intensity. Ronnie's form on some exercises was abysmal.

No one trains you harder than Leroy Davis - I've seen it first hand.

We are debating which multi-Olympia winner trained the hardest......interesting to note both trained at what most of us would consider the shittiest, dirtiest, poorly equipped gyms we have ever seen.... dorian's training caused him to suffer major muscle tears very early on in his olympia career (94).

Ronnie didn't start to do damage until his 40's.

Ronnie not only trained harder, he trained more effectively since he didn't tear the shit of his body until he was entering the twilight of his career, unlike dorian who only won two titles before he became the one armed bandit .

Max Effort=Max Effort whether you bench 315 or 550. Wev'e all done drop sets, negatives, supersets,giant sets, HIT style, volume, DC style.....you name it. In the search for muscle growth I would imagine anyone here who is serious about BBing has done some sick fucking shit and has killed his body to the point where he can't move the next day.
