The first step in fixing the 'problem' is conceding that there was a 'problem' in the first place! 

The last mod  continues to ignore the inherent problems of this board!

The last mod, it appears, did not give a toss about this board. He seemed quite happy in fact to watch it  hemorrhage. 

Why?  Because the last mod's heart was not in this board.  Yes, the last mod was just  to concerned about himself and his 'oh so busy life'.

Fact is, he  did not care about the bigger picture, which is this board's long term relevance and credibility!

What did the last mod 'bring to this board' ?  Nothing, absolutely nothing.
