What's considered "heavy" on dumbell shoulder presses?
« on: May 24, 2008, 07:52:55 PM »
Haven't done presses in a while and rarely see anyone doing it anymore where I train (a dellusionotary TapOuters LA Fitness stronghole)

4th set was with the 105s for 8 reps. Is that good?

Anything that gets your shoulders a pump...does not cause impingement syndrome, or, worse....rotator cuff problems.

Believe me...you'd rather have a knee replacement than a severe shoulder problem!

Well considering im repping out 75's for 8 or 10 reps your doing pretty fucking good bro.

But I believe your beastly shoulders were built on those 225lbs millitaries youve been doing for the past 5-8 years.

I did one hundred once for sixteen reps, on one shoulder...since i cleaned them from the floor i just did one dumbell at a time...No idea how much i would have done with both dumbells at once....I only cleaned both dumbells from the floor twice in my life....Hard thing to do....I do barbell now and dont even own the dumbells anymore....

Interesting, anything over 100 requires some crazing swing to get them up.

Today I got lazy and got on up while to TappedOut kid handed me the second.

All I know is its much harder to clean two hundred pound dumbells then a barbell of the same weight...Most likely because on the barbell the strong arm does most the work...

Kinda like doing lateral raises with kettle bells rather than regular dumbells.. much heavier for some reasons.

Thats very good. My last set is 75-80 for maybe 8-10. Then again you probably outweigh me by 30-40 lbs. My girlfriend can get 3-4 with 60s so I gotta keep getting better before she beats me one day.  ;D

She has always been athletic playing basketball and track during high school so I guess she may have lifted some. She got me into the gym because I didn't want to be the fatass going with the fit girl. As for the 60s yeah I help her get them up to her ears and from there with decent for she gets 3-4 last rep assisted. She's not big 5'7 maybe 135 and a gym rat.

The only thing you've ever done "sixteen" times is put another man's penis in your mouth and make it cum 16 times in one hour.

You could teach my wife a thing or two, you f'n fagg%t ;D

Those presses are going to do more for your shoulders than some fufu DBs.  However 105s are a strong lift!

Yea, dropped about 12lb... seems like the viceral fat went first, I can suck my stomach in pretty good but oviously lardy under the skin; in all fairness haven't been training at all this month either. The entire move however was like a 7 days non stop workout ;D

If you don't lose too much strength getting them into position you probably could get a rep or two with 120s.

I may pass for September... with the wedding couple of weeks after might be too much at once.

December might be more realistic. All bulked up on the wedding pics. She'll love it.
