gayer than I work from home too, I guess its genetic my dad always kept a gun by the door. I got the same gun he gave it to me, he died last year. It's a sawed off shotgun just as in the Arnold Terminator movies.
Gayer than, our parents have a lot of influence on our lives. My parents would have probably killed each other if they'd had a working gun, their disagreements were that insane.
In one house we lived in, my dad found a pistol in the attic. Both of my parents treated it like it was a bomb. As it turned out, the chambers were all sealed up and there was no way it could have ever fired live ammunition. Never the less, mom and dad gave it to a friend because they were wise enough to realize that gun violence would have taken their disagreements to a new more horrendous level.
My mom had no problem using a knife to make her point. She stabbed my father and my stepfather during arguments. Fortunately, neither suffered wounds which were life threatening. Sometimes the enemy lies within.
