Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, the reputed "Constitutional scholar," just today said on CBS's Face the Nation that he went to Iraq to talk to important leader that he expects to be "dealing with over the next eight to 10 years." So, does this "Constitutional scholar" not realize that there is this little thing called the 22nd Amendment that holds a president to only two, four year terms? Um, that would be a grand total of only 8 years, Barack, not 8 to 10. Of course, the big question is, will we see this idiot gaffe race through the MSM as it would if a Republican had said it?
Obama has had some bad gaffes but you're right, they don't get much coverage. Everyone who is publicly speaking every day is going to have a lot of screw ups but Obama has some that approach the Bush level.
Here are a few choice blunders I found (there are a lot!):
"Well let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's."
"Israel is an ally of ours. It is the most important ally we have in the region, and there is no doubt that we would act forcefully and appropriately on any attack against Iran nuclear or otherwise."
"If I talked to Iran, I'm going to tell them, 'You should develop a nuclear weapon. It's going to set off an arms race in the Middle East. You have to stop funding terrorist activities.' "
"Our troops fight and die in 20-degree heat to give Iraq's leaders the space to agree, but they aren't filling that space."
"I would immediately call the president of Mexico, the
president of Canada to try to amend NAFTA.. "
"My father served in World War II, and when he came home, he got the services that he needed." [Completely false]
"I had an uncle who was one of the -- who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps." [Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviets!]
"On this Memorial as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes, and I see many of them in the audience here today." [he sees dead people???]
"The time has changed for come."
"The Time For Come Has Changed."
