Yeah sorry I forgot this is getbig.

How is a college grad with $40-$50K in student loans who gets out making $35-40$K (average salary for a college grad) supposed to afford to live on his own?
Apartment with first and last months rent or a hefty deposit
car
work clothes
food
furnishings to live on his own i.e. bed, plates, knives, spoons, maybe a telephone
car insurance
health insurance

Thank you sir

Very possible, first though lets address the 40-50k in college loans depending on how many years they where in these ppl must not have been working during college? If the do have 40-50k in loans then chances are they werent living with parents anyway.

I think it is very possible, of course you arent living in the lap of luxury and your not going out every week but shit sacrifices have to be made. You will make do with what you have if you really want to, maybe you have to sale that 30k car and buy a hyundai or kia etc...but you can make do.

So your saying college kids should live with their parents? LOL.  Did you live with your parents.  When my kids are 18 year are out of my house and either work, college, or military.  That's how it should be.  That how I was raised.  None of this living with your parents bullshit while in college.  That's the whole point of college, to make young people independent and self reliant.  That's the whole problem with college nowadays.......they turn kids into reliant, needy, indebted consumers.

Hey mm have u ever traveled to Eastern Europe or ever been outside the US besides vacation. Russia is a shithole run by the Mob and petro dollars. Their military is third rate, regardless of size. There are very few opportunities to advance regardless of education, unless u pack up and move West.

As for our education etc....look its not my job to make sure eveybody gets an education. We need ditch diggers as well. To many people are in college as it is. Why do I care if some kid can't afford an apartment or a Honda. Most "poor" Americans have no idea what poor is. Travel overseas...those people can't even afford dirt. And guess what, unless u work ur ass off u arn't entitled to shit here. If u want a socialist utopia move!

For someone who's supposedly traveled abroad you have no idea how ignorant you actually come off.  You think everyone wants to move to America because there is so much opportunity here?  Haha you are clueless.  Maybe 20-30 years ago.  But these days there is opportunity all over the world.  And you call me the socialist?  You'd probably love to see America divided into the rich and the poor.  All the ditch diggers you could ever want and all the good ol boys you could ever imagine to go off and fight your endless wars.

Haha Hereford you should really shut your mouth..........someone who puts football before his country..........a true American!   ;D

That's the debate isn't?

How much does the government need to be involved?

I say as little as possible.

The problem is at what point do they need to get involved to stop the suffering?  And it what areas?   As far as home loans..... Are they bailing out the mortgage companies because there are no others to take their place if they go under?   As far as the people who got the loans.....  they shouldn't be bailed out IMO.   Maybe helped.  But not bailed out.

Maybe u get them more time...but if I can't afford the new loan payment today...what makes it better 3 months from now and then if I get bailed out...why won't i try again ina few years. Whats bullshit is that normal people who make decent money and have no issues will have a harder time getting loans because of this. I move all the time and will be buying another house in the next 2-3 years or sooner. I have actually used an arm because I get more house in a better neighborhood and then move way before the rate goes up. But if u can barely afford an arm and then have zero way to pay for the adjusted rate, u have no right nor business owning a home.

Agreed.

Maybe they don't need to get bailed other than exception from any credit damage.
