The hardcore BB lifestyle
« on: September 19, 2008, 06:26:05 PM »
Who knows how or why, but over the last 10 yrs, I have moved away from a day to day hardcore BB lifestyle. I still lift , take a few supplemnts and attend contests.
I just got bored of the hardcore diet regimes and never miss a workout lifestyle.
I grew tired of thinking I had to make gains and go all out, etc.
I am now content to have some overall level of fitness and some muscle.
I started to get a lot more inner peace and happiness from a more casual relationship with bodybuilding.
Sometimes I feel "guilty" and not hardcore, etc.
Overall I am a lot more happy with a more well rounded lifestyle . These days I am more psyched to plan a nice cruise vacation than going to the Olympia.
Any others relate?

Bodybuilding isn't for everyone, Howard. I'm an "all or nothing" type of person so I enjoy it.

Yo couldnt agree more although I wasnt in the hardcore game as long as you only about 3 years.  As much as I loved and miss the lifestyle it held me and my happiness back in so many ways.  I still follow and enjoy the sport I still lift 5 to 6 days a week but if I miss a workout and have a few to many beers i'm not to worried about it anymore.  I still keep in phenominal shape.

its called growing up.  as get older your amount of responsibilities tend to compound, and once you have hit certain goals that at one time seemed impossible, your interests tend to focus on the more important things in life.  I will always love lifting and working towards an impressive physique, not to mention shooting the shit on the boards with others that have followed this sordid cultish "sport"... but at 28 its not as high on on the priorities list for me anymore.... nothing wrong with being well rounded and not treating the iron game as an obsession.

Dude, not trying to be a dick here, but I've seen your pics and you're not exactly what I'd call a walking, talking example of "hardcore" bodybuilding ???

i've worked full time and gone to full school time and still had time to work out. it takes less than an hour a day. i don't really consider it much of a problem at all.

i don't see why you can't do everything else AND still work out. it's never been a problem for me.

Good thing they don't have a message board, or getbig might have a huge political void.

No kidding.  If I was single, I'd tell a girl to leave her electric bill on the table, bang me for a week, and I'll take care of it.

Think of all the hours I'd save.  More time for posting, sleeping, posting, cooking, and posting.
