Haneys structure and overall shape shits on anything i saw first hand at this years olympia, if he was at his peak now and using todays chemichal arsnel, he would have won hands down.

there wasn't very much scientific about Hatfield's approach either really, his main idea was to eat for what you're planning to do not to recover from anything.

Squad's 100% right on this, Hatfield is well known in powerlifting circles for his Snickers bar diet.

Are these from his 1987 British Champs guest posing?? Was there and he was incredible (looks like it, but I have never seen any pics from it)

Funny thing - Wayne Demilia told me in 1989 that "Haney has now added too much muscle to the human frame"   -  Little did he know eh?!

Haney's limbs appeared smaller due to the sheer mass of his torso.
His chest was a mound of criss-crossed muscle fibers unlike anything Ive ever seen, thickness beyond belief.
His back was wide AND thick, the above rear lat spread pic next to Labrada and especially Strydom illustrates what the pretenders to the throne were going up against. Both their backs combined couldnt emulate Haney's thickness, detail and width.
Haney as someone else mentioned, when compared to a competitor really stood out, and it was usually lights out.
Even in his worst ever condition, 90, the drug tested show, Labrada couldn't take it, even though I would 've liked to see Flea Labrada win...

To me he very clearly represents the last of the classically muscular physiques that looked good. The kind I'd want to attain something close to (in an ideal world where I didn't have to take anything and had insane genetics ), or  a smaller version of.

There was a time when shoulder to waist ratio actually meant something important and his is amongst the best.

Had he competed another year against Yates, it could've gone either way, at the time, DY still had all his limbs, and had a new level of size and granite-like-hardness.
But, Haney was, Haney.

I'm no more ' sad ' than you posting on Yates , again pot calling the kettle black and Ronnie has to do with how far the sport has fallen since Haney since you asked  ;)

His highest contest weight was in 1987 where he weighed 259 pounds, so YES, 275 pounds sounds realistic for his heavier offseason's and closer to 260 pounds offseason when he showed up about 10-15 pounds lighter in competition. For a guy who measured 5'11"-6'0", he was pretty massive indeed.

Dave, put down the crack pipe bro.
