why would a body add muscle under any circumstance?

cuz you FORCE it
you can train hard as fuck and stimulate all kinds of growth... but where does that muscle come from that you will grow? the food you eat

if you dont eat you wont grow

Another point for AXA to consider.

In that study I posted in regards to caloric intake and muscle growth the authors wrote:

"...muscular strength gains are a consequence of central nervous system adaptations, muscular hypertrophy, or some combination of the two."
-Rozenek et. Al. 2002

So we can suggest the body's overall response to resistance training is a combination of the two separate responses. If our caloric intake is lower than our caloric expenditure. I would hypothesis the body would favour CNS adaptation as this is less metabolically taxing. The higher caloric intake could potentially involve a higher proportion of the muscular hypertrophy adaptation. The results seen in Rozenek et. Al. (2002) supports this hypothesis.

Not so fast stud.  In a calorie surplus ok, but as calories drop protein requirement increases if you're going to keep what you've built.

I would agree with this, higher protein also induces a higher TEE so a higher overall caloric expenditure.

The diet with higher & animal proteins will ALWAYS result in a leaner, more muscular body. And it will do so in a shorter amount of time than the other diet.

you will have to take into account that the study was performed on natural individuals, not bodybuilders enhancing their metabolism with AAS and other hormones. this might altr the effect of protien on body composition and muscle gain.

Anything else? ;D

So is there or is there not a difference depending on whether someone is natural or not?

theres a difference between a gaining diet and a cutting diet AXA

gainign diet you want t have the most net protein accrual as possible with little fat accural = high energy intake + high protein intake

cutting diet you want the most possible lipolysis least possible catabolism = low calorie,  high % protein diet

ummmmmm my post he quopted was about a cuttting diet

two diets, both of eauql calories, one has higher % protein than the other, the higher % protein diet willl result in the leaner more muscular body... because when cuttting protein increases thermogensis and decreases catabolism..

in absence of glucose, fats are burned, in absence of dietary fat body fat is burned. why not eat NOTHING? you lose muscel. so you eat some protein to avoid muscle loss. thats a cutting diet. of course there are soem other things to take consideration that effects glycogen and t3 production and test production.. but getting into that now would take forever
